NinnaTerry,

Very interesting comment. My daughter has a ton of earwax buildup too!

Wonder why and is it common in autistic children? any others out there. Hers

is like a bright yellow in color also which is strange. She is also very pron

to ear infections which is uncommon in kids her age. (13) S.

Hello Ninnaterry,

ALA is alpha lipoic acid. I have been on the Mercury list also and have

learned a great deal there. I will post a summary of ALA for you. =)

We also had to hold our Missy down when we first started with all of her

supplements. Then I switched to the Kirkman line and also with her off of

all dairy completely for a full month she seemed willing to drink her juice.

I was pretty persistent, only this sippy cup of juice w/supplements or no

other drink for the day. Works very well with her. (of course we had the

usual no way attitude in the beginning but it did not last long)

Hi Ninna,

you sound like a wonderful grandma. I know there are quite a few of us

" grannys " who are very involved with our special grandchildren.

I also believe some of 's progress has been from a variety of

interventions - but I can honestly say that the best progress we've seen

is from chelation.

It's really hard to get my Tammy (9) to sit down and watch any video or cartoon type program. She went through a short spirt with Barney, (but my husband and teens just about went crazy)The only thing she used to watch was a tape of the nutcracker ballet that my oldest daughter was in. She loved classical music, and likes to play on my piano...even making up her own songs with 2 hands and chords. I just got connected with a music therapy group, and have had a therapist out 3 times now...she brought lots of little instruments, drums, and a guitar. For the entire 45 minutes she was here, Tammy just kept picking up the little instruments and tossing them back at her! I was just about to call the woman this week and tell her that I think Tammy is too sensitive for the instruments she is bringing for rhythm, and that I just wanted her to try singing and playing piano with her instead, but I got a call from the therapist first...she said that she had just gotten her nose broken by some kiddo ramming his head into hers! She decided to quit teaching! (poor young thing!) Anyway, we are going to get a new music therapist and I am hoping this one will be more responsive to Tammy and her auditory senses. If I ever get Tammy to set through a 30 minute PBS program (without resistance) I will feel like I've really accomplished something! Sure would be fun to be able to bring her to a theatre someday...oh well! dream on!

love, bj (the mom)

HI, its ninnaterry again, I was thinking about how all the girls love music and Barney videos. I was wondering if the other girls were like Trista. She only likes videos with real kids in them. She doesn't relate to cartoons or even Disney movies. She likes animal programs on Tv.

What they might mean is that the brain has the most change of help with

therapies in Early Intervention. Usually children unless they are Aspergers

get dxed with at least a developmental delay. The Aspergers kids throw them

off since they do not talk late.

,

The first time we had to do breathing treatments was last August. Caelan

had a bad infection and was wheezing but mostly just coughing until

vomiting. He had an oxygen level around 92 which is not terrible but it

should be around 98-100 in a normal person. He went on treatments and was

much better. Then again every time he gets a bad cold or URI. This all

came about from when he was 4 months old and had RSV. He was very sick

then, wheezing and vomiting mucous from coughing so hard.

He is on Pulmicort respules .5mcg one time per day. Then when he has

trouble every 4 hrs he has albuterol solution by nebulizer. I usually give

him .25ml albuterol but if he's really bad we do .5ml.

Hi! Just a note of encouragement! We have 4 children. Our 2nd child, 1st dd is the one with autism. The rest of the children are fine.
