Very true. That is probably why they are watching to make sure we don't do something silly, like discover anti-gravity and interstellar flight. We could also feature prominently in their programming, like our nature shows. Thanks to our technology and love of showing people at their worst (the videos showing accidents and stupid people hurting themselves) the show would be really cheap to produce as the aliens could just hang out in orbit and pirate our own broadcasts.
