I tend to agree. I would like to find out a couple of things from the aliens. First would be how long ago they were at our equivalent technology. Second, how did they survive from then until now. Third, what do they think of us as a species. I can't answer the first two, but the fact that if they are around and they haven't landed at the white house probably means they don't have too high of an opinion of us.

It'd be neater if they were UFO's.

I would ask them if their homeworld had ever been visited by aliens, and if it was, were any of its people abducted.

I have only just seen the Larry King programme on CNN. Overhere in

Europe there is no " fuss " , I think our medias have not reacted at all

on your latest sighting. I think There has been no official sightings

overhere in the last... 10 years or so ? I guess they don't react

because of the lack off evidence and (credability?) of the footage.

How come there is so many sightings in America ? I saw a documentary

once, that suggested it is in the sub contience of the general

population. If you talk a lot about it , and see many films on the

subject, then you will more awere of it , and more likely to observe

something, and declaring it was a mysterious thing ?

These militatry flares that are given as the explanetion, are they

classified as well? Do any of you have any hyperlinks to footage and

explanation of those ?

I guess it is an aspie trade to bee open for any explanation to for

example conspiransy theories, without settling for any of them as the

answer ??

Hi,

and welcome to the forum Henrik.

I am from UK (dx Aspergers)and I have in the past seen 'odd' things

in the sky - however I not often discuss such with many people as I

am seen as weird enough as it is.

On one occasion there was another with me when I saw oddly behaving

lights in the night sky - didn't have any particular explanation (not

saying there wasn't one though) and like I said I haven't spoken to

many about it.

I am not particularly obsessed with UFO's or aliens either, but

sometimes the subject is rather fascinating - I am quite happy for

logical explanations of things. As for conspiracy theories I guess

they are sometimes interesting, but way too many people take them way

too seriously (sigh).

That might be a part of it, but I think there is another reason for it. Since the 1950's UFO and alien movies have been a staple of pop culture. Add to that that some people will jump on the "I saw a UFO" bandwagon to get their name in the paper or their face on TV.

Now, in the strictest sense I have seen UFOs. By that I mean I have seen odd things in the sky. Most of those turned out to be aircraft and the like on closer observation. One or two I am not sure about, but I'm pretty sure they were helicopters at a long distance or something like that. No definite alien spacecraft though.

I agree with that it would be interesting to know if they were real or not. It wouldn't particularly bother me to know that there were aliens out there, especially if they had no inclination to bother us. If they did mean us harm, well, there wouldn't be a whole lot we could do about that anyway.

I'm wanting UFOs to be real for a different reason. I think it'd be cool if there was intelligent life on other planets and we were being visited by high tech flying saucers. I'm perfectly satisfied with what Earth has to offer like snakes; but when I read comic books and see exotic alien creatures, I wish those creatures were real. God bless, Irelan

" Has anyone here ever seen a UFO?

God bless, Irelan "

Seen? No. Heard, yes?

However, it needs to be kept in mind that we are not talking about

flying saucers here, but something that flew over the suburbs of

Chicago and landed in Lake Michigan. It is theorized that it was a

meteor that failed to burn up in the atmosphere, but we will never

know for sure because the object itself cannot be recovered from the

depths of the lake, it's precise point of penetration and trajectory

being unknown.

It crashed overhead like a bolt of lightnight, and others reported

seeing it. I did not. I was inside the house when I heard it.

The article about it appears below...

Blue-green glow and booming noises are thought to be from a meteor

By M. Gibbard

Tribune staff reporter

Published August 17, 2004

An object believed to be a meteor brought a fireworks show to the

area early Monday, lighting the night and causing sonic booms that

had some people marveling over the wonders of nature and others

scrambling to call 911.

The bright lights and noise arrived just after 1 a.m. and were

especially prominent in the west and northwest parts of Chicago and

the suburbs, police said

Meteor showers are common, especially during the annual Perseid

showers this month, but this was different, experts said.

" Any time you hear a meteor, it's rare because that typically means

the meteor didn't disintegrate until it got close to the ground, "

said Bart , director of the Cernan Earth and Space Center at

Triton College in River Grove. " It has to penetrate very deeply into

the atmosphere. "

In Buffalo Grove, Franchi Jr., 27, was hanging out with friends

in his back yard in the 100 block of Forest Place when something

streaked across the sky, bathing everything in blue-green light.

" I've seen shooting stars before, but this was something else, "

Franchi said. " It was amazing. It lit up the entire back yard. "

The fireball broke into three pieces and flamed out, he said.

Shortly afterward, there were several loud booms.

" It was distinct. It was very deep, like a bass, " he said.

Don Kunde of Northbrook was stargazing in his back yard when he saw

it.

" This thing was huge. I thought it was a plane on fire for a

second, " he said. " It was hundreds of times the size of a shooting

star. "

The sound and light brought calls to 911, said Penny Mateck, a

spokeswoman for Cook County sheriff's police.

Calls came from Leyden, Norwood and Elk Grove Townships, she said.

Norridge police also received calls, said Chief Ghiloni.

" We responded with squad cars and ambulances, but there was nothing

located, " Ghiloni said.

Monday's meteor event was no match for one that hit the south

suburbs in March 2003, but it is relatively rare to have two so

visible incidents in a short period of time, said Mark Hammergren,

an astronomer at the Adler Planetarium.

" From any one location you might expect something this bright every

few years, maybe every five or 10 years, " he said.

In the 2003 incident, the sky blazed with light seen from Wisconsin

to Ohio when a large meteor hit the atmosphere and exploded.

Chunks of space rock rained down on Park Forest and Olympia Fields,

knocking holes in roofs and leaving chunks of ancient debris for

collectors to pick up. Some of the meteorites weighed several

pounds, and one is on display at the planetarium.

Those finds, too, are rare, Hammergren said, and it could be why

astronomers have not heard any reports of specimens this time.

" Most often, the object coming in burns up, " he said.

Also, from the reports the planetarium received of the meteor's

position, it is quite possible that any rock that survived would

have ended up in Lake Michigan, he said.

Without physical evidence, it can be hard to tell exactly what

people saw, but astronomers have received numerous calls and e-mails

about lights and noise in the early morning, so they are fairly

certain it was a meteor, he said.

The reports of loud noises also point toward the heavens.

" If there were sonic booms, that's a good sign there were meteorites

dropped, " Hammergren said.

There is also the chance that the object was not a rock but a piece

of space junk, said.

" [We have had] no reports of anything we know of falling to the

ground, but there's lots of pieces of spacecraft up there, and not

all of them are American, " he said.

In Waukegan, authorities had a more earthly explanation for some

bright lights residents reported overnight.

" We think it has something to do with the Batman movie that's being

filmed downtown, " said Cmdr. Dan Greathouse.

Meteors are pretty neat. My great Uncle Lorenzo had one that landed on his farm. I wish one would land in our yard. I'd try to get a sample of it after it cooled off if one did. God bless, Irelan

Thanks for the welcommings :-) I am glad to find " a good handful " of

It's morning here and I got to go to work. Some of of you arrise the

same worry that I have, that is if there actually is intelligent life

out there, and it is more devoloped than us scientificly and

technology wise, what makes you think that they would be friendly ??

-just think of how one population here on earth can wiew another

population, or on a smaller scale, what neighboors that never spoke to

each other, can think of each other...

I don't think I have heard of your green / blue light sonic boom that

you mentioned neither, but it makes me think of an alleged meteorite

hit, I think it was in Russia, the then Sovjet Union, many square

miles of wood should have been flatened....

Batman movie...? would they stage a real huge explosion when they

could just make it with computer graphics?

I know it just can be shot down as an old conspiracy theory, but i

tend to believe in that USA's military is working wery hard to find

new technologies to give them the upper hand in war, all thogh the

most mystery thing i think of, that we have seen for real, is the not

so mystical atombomb, and the (cant remember its name right now?)

black jetplane not wisible on radar, that was revieled in the balkan war.

Did any you have some hyperlinks to facts about those huge military

flares that is put as the reason for your latest sighting? I guess you

had a similar sighting some years ago in Phoenix ? (I've seen that in,

I guess, a Discovery channel documentary)

I must admit all this gives me a creepy feeling. Did you see that film

clip in the Larry King show, from Sweden, with the black craft just

over the top of the trees? yerk! I think I would'nt have the nerve to

stand and observe and film a thing like that, I'd panic either

freezing or fleeing wildly... But then again, that piece of film is so

shaken.........

Sleep well or have nice day were ever you are in the world, I

There is no guarantee that they would be. Mostly likely intelligent life will rise from an at least partly predatory species, like humans did. They would probably have a degree of aggression to them. However, we have very little to offer them. Some people speculate they might want natural resources on earth, but there is vastly more mineral wealth in the asteroid belts than on earth and they wouldn't even have to bother about us to get it. Conquest would probably not be an option either, unless they were truly desperate for a place to live. Besides, if they were an ancient species, they could have taken us out centuries ago when there weren't as many of us and had little technology. Sightings do go back to at least Egyptian times.

I don't think I have heard of your green / blue light sonic boom thatyou mentioned neither, but it makes me think of an alleged meteoritehit, I think it was in Russia, the then Sovjet Union, many squaremiles of wood should have been flatened....

That would be the Tunguska (sp.) blast. It is believed that either a comet fragment of stony asteroid blew up in the atmosphere and leveled a tremendous area. Such strikes are surprisingly common at several per year. During the 1991 Gulf War, such an impact occurred over the Pacific Ocean, at the same latitude as Northern Saudi Arabia. If the impact had happed a few hours later, it could have exploded over the war zone and possibly been misinterpreted as a tactical nuclear attack.

There are two such planes. One if the size of a fighter and the other is a large bomber. Very interesting technology, but not fool proof, and countermeasures are already being designed. The planes are also very expensive to maintain because they need to be kept cool, for the sake of the radar absorbing panels, much manpower intensive maintenance is required. The big bomber is practically a "hanger queen" because of all the maintenance it requires between flights. It is believed that there is a new, hypersonic bomber in the works. Most interesting is a story that they have figured out how to drop bombs while traveling faster than the speed of sound.

Very early morning here, woke in the mittle of thee night...

Thank you VISIGOTH for your welcoming and reasuring carming view, on

what interest eventual aliens might (not) have in us and our planet :-)

But I'd like to hear more views on that question : >>...that is if

there actually is intelligent life out there, and it is more

devoloped than us scientificly and technology wise, what makes you

think that they would be friendly ??

-just think of how one population here on earth can wiew another

population, or on a smaller scale, what neighboors that never spoke

to each other, can think of each other... << - or I'll put it another

way : I have a hard time seeing the exitement people seem to have

about getting contact with other " intelligent " life in the universe.

-just look to ourselves, the human species, for instance; wich

problemes we have in merging and accepting eachothers way of life, or

just take AS in NT world, >>whoops wrong planet<< ha' ? .....

Hair raising knowledge, there was a metorite blast at the time of the

first gulf war, funny how little details deviding things from

potentially getting cataclysmic...

-like stories from the older cuba misil crisis...

scaring that we aint' able to observe and warn against meteorites

fully yet. And strange a metorite eksplosion have'nt really harmed a

populated area yet...? you say it happens several times per year, do

you have an hyperlink to show that?

The bigger plane you mention, is'nt that the " flying wing " bomber?

tough plane thogh, flying out of the same base, pilots able to live

with their family.

Dropping bombs at supersonic speed..? :-) *LOL* a little conspirating

at our mix of subjects here ... : metorite blasts...? sure it is'nt

supersonic planes dropping bombs ...? :-)

To see what time it is arrond the world in order to what time you can

hope for specific person to reply: http://www.oz7skb.dk/verdensur.htm

If you feel like it, you should be able to embed it on your eventual

website via this site ? : http://www.clocklink.com/

I've been giving this some thought, and I rather doubt that space

travelers would be friendly. To develop inter-stellar travel would

take an enormous expendature of resources and wealth. Even if the

aliens had no such concept as wealth or money, the effort to research

and develop space craft of the kind needed to visit earth from afar

would be huge.

It is doubtful they would embark upon such a project unless their

intent was ill will towards those they found...unless of course these

aliens were so wealthy in terms of time and resources as to be able

to develop such a craft.

Yes, thats a plausible scenario too Tom, and then they're trying to

get get radio-contact and what else, I do'nt think that's particulary

smart...

Mimi seemed to accidentaly have risen a subject within this one, but I

reply'ed on it anyways, BUT my reply did'nt jump onto the group front

page, like all my other replys?

gotta' go to work now, here it is again:

Re: did anyone see the BBC absolute zero?/Re: UFOs? Nope. They were

fighter jets

I can't do math for real neither mimi, and I don't read books, neither

fiction or informative litteratura (not that I could'nt pick up

reading if I felt like it, but my mind tend to wonder on , daydreaming

whilst reading) and yet I watch and listen a lot of documentarys ,

news , and other , espacialy for NT's boring things. So , a programme

like that you've linked us to there, yes, I mighr watch it i I fell

over it whilst surfing the channels on my TV-set.

I've seen the first section tou linked to one time, at first I was

impressed of " the worlds first airconditioning " , but then it just hit

me ; where did he get the ice from in the first place in the mitle of

the sommer 300 or 400 years ago?

Maybe we don't have contact with aliens yet because they're smart

enough to know better than to have relations with us, professional or

otherwise. LOL.

That's what I think. It could be that they are like Star Fleet and they think we are just too primitive, or more likely we just simply aren't worth the bother of contacting. My guess is that if they are around, they have a sort of observation blind of sorts where they can watch us. One reason why UFO aren't seen like there were in the 1950s could be that we have so much broadcast noise now that they can simply watch our TV and Internet from space. If so, that probably convinces them that were aren't worth bothering with.

Maybe we don't have contact with aliens yet because they're smart enough to know better than to have relations with us, professional or otherwise. LOL.RavenCo-AdministratorWho's never won? Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music.

You are forgetting two other motivations: exploration and survival.

If could be that they learn how to travel the stars are go exploring. It wouldn't take many ships if all they wanted to do was look and weren't interested in expanding. A fairly small fleet with the right sensors to pick out star systems with interesting planets would be all you would need to scour an ever expanding area of space.

Now, they could also be interested in survival. You would start with the mode I just mentioned, but when suitable planets are found, colonists are sent out. The reason for this is the more systems you species lives in, the more likely it will be to survive some kind of major catastrophe. Any number of things like a radiation from a supernova is headed for the home world to a planet ruined by war could be a motive. Then again, maybe they would be just like us and expand simply because they could.

In either case, I'm not sure earth would be worth the trouble. There are so many humans, they'd have to wreck the place to get rid of us. It would be much simpler to find another suitable and uninhabited planet to land on.

True. Our economies would be so radically different, about all we could trade would be irreproducible luxuries like certain kinds of wine and other such drinks, spices and maybe art. Not sure how they would covert that to anything they could give us though as far as units of exchange. After all, how much Cognac would someone have to trade for a new liver, say. Its a really complicated things, worse than a high tech American trying to trade with a stone age tribe.

I agree with you.I think if there were anything like the Star Trek Federation out there, they would probably avoid us until we developed interstellar travel. At present, given the way the world is, we have nothing good to bring to such a hypothetical federation that a federation of that type wouldn't already have. TomAdministratorWho's never won?
