Orelindel,

The Broda school of thought says your basal temperature (taken just

at waking with a mercury thermometer) should be between 97.8-98.2. Other

alternative doctors say to take it 3 hrs. after waking, and then at the next

3 & 6 hrs. Some say to take it under the armpit for 10 min., others say its

okay to take orally for 3 min. So as usual, there are different schools of

thought. If you were using an electric blanket or a heated bed, that might

throw off your basal temperature. I don't know that p.j.s and blankets

will. Take your temp at waking and later in the day and see how they

compare. But your oral temperature should be 98.6 in the midday and maybe

..2 to .4 lower in morning and evening. Many doctors nowadays don't seem to

think you have to be at 98.6 to be normal, but many of us on the

NaturalThyroidHormones group find that 98.6 is an indicator of optimal

thyroid function.

Since you haven't had your ferritin tested yet, you might want to take

dessicated liver tablets until you know your ferritin status. Carlson is a

good brand. You need to be sure the liver comes from a clean source. If it

turns out your ferritin is low, you could continue with fresh or dessicated

liver or start with iron glycinate.

Hi Lynn,

I will start charting my temperature. I sleep in pajamas and use

some sort of blanket year round. I wonder if all the layers of

clothes and blankets would give me an inaccurate temperature reading

for that first temperature of the day? Whenever I have my temp

taken at a doctor's office it is normal. Does the FILES section

recommend a good organic iron supplement? I'm still exploring all

that information.

Thanks again,

Orelindel

, This sounds like it could be anemia, ask about it. Having said that; don't screw around too long waiting for the Doctor. If you don't hear soon consider emergency. Hi Welcome to the group! When I was on tx, I slept almost an entire year and I still have problems with staying awake.. I take provigil on the days that I HAVE to get up to be somewhere.. There are others who take this medication too so it might be something you need to talk with your doc about. He is probably anemic too and with a low hemoglobin which is the oxygen carrying part so if that is low, he is probably anemic and that can cause the sleepiness too. so check with the doc,, he may need procrit. jax Goldbarth <goldbarth@...> wrote: Hi. Hi ,

Welcome to the group. You will find wonderful people here to answer

any question you have as your husband goes through this process. I

know I have sure asked my fair share as we have gone though the ups &

downs of the disease.

My husband also has Hep C, genotype 1 & advanced cirrhosis. My husband

has already been through the treatment. It did not work for him.

If you ever want to talk about anything you are welcome to email me. I

would enjoy that.

Best of luck to you both. You are in a good group here.

Dear Macs, Same here, but we have varcie complictions, he now has 31 bands in his chest, still no epidisode with bleeding, were all finished his teting for transplant and been summoned by The University of Alberta for Transplant total assesemrent. My husbands health is excellent, looks up and gives thanks. He does however have a 2.3 cm HCC tumor and his speen is 3 times as large. He is also a non-responder, but they have him under or is that me under strict orders to do only what he can, I can handle the rest, Once he gets his new liver, these jobs are his again. His main complaints are...pain and he's very tired. He can do about 3 hrs and then has to have a nap...which I greatly encourage. We both get Hep A and Hep B vacines before tranplant, that's scheduled for 2 weelks. He has to have a few more boosters to update him, I'm good. He has a TB test,

and that's it. All the information for transplant is enclosed along with another full battery of tets done from 7am on, they do however after certin tests tell you to go have something to eat. We meet with everyone, surgeons, co-ordinators. They've been very kind to us and explained everything in detail. Hi, phine. Welcome to our group!

I use Nutiva, which I get from " Whole Foods, " a local " health food "

store. Check and see if you have one in HI. Also check for a " Trader

Joe's. " Look for any health food store, and they " should " have at

least one brand of VCO (virgin coconut oil).

I have also used a brand called " Jungle, " which was " ok. "

The first brand I ever tried was " Garden of Life. " I got it from a

local health food store, called " Elliott's. " I'm pretty sure they're

just local to the Sacramento, CA area, which is where I am.

Of course, you can also order VCO off any number of websites,

including eBay. But if you check the eBay listings, make sure their

coconut oil is " food grade. " I've seen listings for the " Garden of

Life " brand. Coconut oil is also used for cosmetic purposes, such as

skin creams. There is also the RBD (refined, bleached, and

deodorized) version, which is used mostly for a cooking oil.

You, preferably, want to make sure you get 100% organic Virgin Coconut

Oil. Other versions are good, also, but don't have as much Lauric

acid, which is what " does the trick, " as the expression goes.

The best way to find a good VCO online, is to do a search for it. You

can also go back through the archives of this group, and search for

postings about different brands of VCO.

Hopefully, some other members will " chime " in with their

recommendations, also.

So, welcome to the " wonderful world of coconut oil, " and better health.

We're glad to have you.

*You are so right the capsules may be easier to swallow but at a hefty

price.*

*These capsules may contain mineral oil as well.*

*I've ordered from this company online and they are legit.*

I'm pregnant right now, so my symptoms are flaring badly. My worst

complaint is yeast in my groin, but I've got a bit around my rectum too.

The only thing I've found that helps even a little is coconut oil applied

topically. It's a little messy, but it helps some. (I can't use oil of

oregano mixed in right now because I'm with child.)

I would imagine that there are other good suggestions in the files.

Topical treatments that are safe in the groin area would likely be safe

around the rectum too. Just an idea.

Yes, it went away after about 6 months on the diet for

me. In the mean time you can use coconut oil on it.

If you like you can follow a standard Atkins diet for

a while, with good fats but keep in dairy and nuts,

then gradually phase those out. This is what I did

and it worked really well as I never had severe die

off.

my rectal area (it's been cultured and diagnosed by a doctor). They

gave me 3 doses of diflucan and it hasn't worked (plus I don't want

to take any more because it's harmful to the liver).

==>Hi a. Welcome to our group. Not only is diflucan damaging to

the liver, but also antifungals alone will not cure candida without

also following the diet and taking supplements which build up the

immune system. A healthy immune system is the only way for the body

to keep candida " in check " the way it is supposed to be, which is

friendly round yeast form of candida before it changed into an

overgrowing monster.

> I still have the pain, rawness, itching, and bumpy irritation. Are

there other people here who have had these same symptoms? Was there

anything you used topically for it?

==>It is very common for candida sufferers to have the problems you

have. Coconut oil is antifungal and it is the best topical treatment;

applied directly and frequently to affected areas. If you are not

pregnant or nursing you can put drops of oregano or clove oil (also

antifungal) in the coconut oil - see these articles:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu2_4_1.php

For example " Oil of Oregano for Skin Disorders "

Adult acne, psoriasis and eczema are often candida related and may

require topical treatment with oil of oregano. Mix 2-3 drops of

oregano oil into 1 teaspoon of olive or coconut oil and apply it to

sensitive skin. Do not apply oil of oregano full strength to broken

skin or rashes.

==>You you can also infuse coconut oil with raw crushed garlic.

Here's a recipe:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/recipes/recipe159.php

==>It is very important that you do enemas as well, starting with

coffee enemas and then do alternating antifungal and probiotic enemas

per these articles:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu1_4_2.php

==>Also do everything you can to help your body detoxify - see How to

Detoxify Effectively; http://tinyurl.com/34ov3y

> So, I'm here and am adopting a lifestyle/diet change to try and

fight it on my own.

==>Good for you a. We are here to answer your questions and

support you through this program. You can't go wrong on this diet

plus supplements which will give all of the nutrients your body needs

to heal itself!

>

> I've been reading through the literature on making changes. The

one thing I'm looking for is a timeline of when to be taking away

foods and introducing probiotics.

==>I know there is a lot of information to read and absorb. This

article will help you make the transition " Curing Candida, How to Get

Started " : http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro1.php

==>Ensure you make the transition gradually. If you lower carbs too

quickly without also increasing your " good " fats to much higher

levels you will get constipated, and also do not increase proteins to

too high - follow the ratios of protein to fat to carbs as

recommended in my article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " :

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php

==>You start on coconut oil when you start on the diet, and gradually

increase it to 5-6 tablespoons per day - it is antifungal so do not

increase it too fast or you will get more severe die-off symptoms.

When you are able to take 5-6 tbl per day you can add one other

antifungal listed in my article.

==>Probiotics are added last (Step 4) - see that section of my

article for the timing.

> I've been without sugar and yeast for 2 days, but haven't

eliminated carbs completely. Is there an " ease in " process or should

I go cold turkey? It seems like the literature doesn't advocate cold

turkey, so that's where a timeline would be helpful.

==>Like I wrote above it is important to " ease in " for reasons

given. You should try to aim for changing your diet over completely,

and taking all of the supplements (they work together) in about 1

month, however it may take longer for you to take 5-6 tbl of coconut

oil. Some people need to stay on the diet plus supplements

(including coconut oil) for 3 to 6 months before they can add another

antifungal. But Step 4, Probiotics, is always last for reasons

explained in that section of my candida article.

The best to you, Bee

==>Debby & , clove oil is not safe for pregnancy - this is in

the clove oil article:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/anti1.php

Cautions:

Clove oil is not recommended for pregnant or nursing mothers.

Medicinal amounts of clove should not be given to children under age

2. For older children and people over 65, start with low-strength

preparations and increase strength if necessary. Clove oil may be

diluted in extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil. Those who are

taking blood-thinner medications should not take clove oil because

it, too, is a powerful blood-thinner. Doses above those recommended

may cause stomach upset.

==>It won't clear up that easily my friend, per my article " How to

Treat Vaginal Yeast " ;

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/women6.php

Here's some excerpts:

Treatment

To clear recurrent vaginal yeast infections the entire body must be

treated. For lasting results, the entire candida program, especially

the diet, should be followed. Birth control pills and hormone

replacement therapy should be eliminated, along with other

recommendations on the candida diet; see Bee's Article " How to

Successfully Overcome Candida " for the complete candida diet and

program.

Alternate Anti-fungal & Probiotic Treatments

Douching is highly recommended since it is much more effective than

tablets or capsules in reaching all of the folds and creases in the

vagina. Do not douche too often (2-3 times a week) because excessive

douching may actually help promote infection and dry out the vagina.

Alternate antifungal douches with probiotic douches, doing one of

them in the morning and the other one in the evening on the same day.

On days you are not douching use the antifungal and probiotic

treatments as recommended below.

==>I had vaginal yeast for over 25 years before I found out about

candida, and I did all of the right things to cure it as recommended

in my article, along with diet, supplements and antifungals, and it

was the last thing to finally normalize after 2.5 years on the

candida program.

==>Treating vaginal yeast and other symptoms of candida overgrowth

directly will help, but they won't be cured until your body has re-

traced all previous symptoms in that particular area and trully

healed it, along with building up the immune system.

Thanks for the reference. I had originally based my decision on a

reference at Mom.com which lists the herbs to avoid while

pregnant/breast-feeding. Oil of oregano is listed as an " avoid " , but

clove oil is not. I hadn't seen any other sources to indicate that clove

oil is unsafe.

I've noticed that sometimes, certain sources recommend avoiding " natural "

treatments without giving a specific reason. Often times these

recommendations occur because people choose to follow the " better safe

than sorry " method. With OoO, it can act as a uterine stimulant

(obviously bad for pregnancy), and it can decrease milk supply (bad for

breast-feeding.) I've been looking, and I can't seem to find any specific

reasons that clove oil is bad. I wonder what it might do?

It definitely warrants some more looking.

Thanks again, Bee!

Often times these recommendations occur because people choose to

follow the " better safe than sorry " method.

==>I, too, have followed the " better safe than sorry " method, by

being overly cautious on recommendations for pregnant and nursing

moms. At the end of the Clove Oil article there are many references

you can check out.

Thanks! I always appreciate more information.

I haven't used any clove oil yet, but I was thinking about starting it, so

this info couldn't have come up at a better time. (I'm not getting enough

coconut oil in 'cause my blender is broken. I was usually only getting my

coconut oil from the egg drink.) Since I can't do oil of oregano, and I

don't think the garlic is adequate, I was trying to figure out something

that i could take internally.

I wonder about using clove oil topically though. I'm just going to have

to go through all that info.

Thanks again!
