I live in ville and was told that Parkway elementary has a program as

well one elementary school in Carrollton. I just got diagnosed in January

and started a ABA program for our 32 month old . She is eligible to go

into program at 3 but right now I want to check it out and see how much 1-1

teaching she will receive before I decide.

<prozac>

Prozac has gluten, so if you are doing the diet, it'll cause problems.

If not, though, then it might work for her.

PLEASE LOOK AT DIET BEFORE MEDS...please?

http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/articles/article-pfeiffer.htm

For some people, for whatever reason, diet isnt an option. Like me =) I

do Feingold, but with all my sensitivities to synthetics and

salycilates, if I also did gfcf I would probably subsist totally on soy

(since most meat gives me gastrointestinal problems). THen I would

develop a soy intolerance, and I would starve to death = O.

Do what you think is best for your child, but beware the placebo effect.

Hi,

We have used Prozac (now using Celexa) for years. I believe it has helped

with 's sleep, but I don't think it changed her language abilities. We

started using it because had a lot of irrational fears/anxiety.

> Hi all, I have a question.... I have an appointment for my Skyler later

this month with a developmental ped. What I want to talk with her about is

meds. for Skyler. The only thing we have tried with her is DMG, with no

change what-so-ever. Her biggest problem is speech, and some sleep issues. I

know several others with their young kids on prozac (Skyler was 4 in Dec.)

and I have heard of no bad reactions to it, just positive. I have hesitated

to put her on meds. as it kinda scares me with her being so young, however,

I am up for anything that may help with her speech and sleep issues. I am

willing to try meds. now. I just don't know what to try first. Prozac is

what I have heard most about. Have any of you had any experience with

Prozac? thanks in advance...........

though I have heard of wonderful things happening with diet, I have known more

that have had no reaction to it then positive. the diet is not something, though

never say never, right?, that I am not considering at this time. Skyler has

never had any problems with her bowels, eating issues of any kind. she eats a

variety of foods, nothing she is obsessed over and has never had the leaky gut

problems that others have had. I am sure the diet is wonderful for those having

gas, leaky gut, bowel problems, ect., but don't think it would do us any good

without those problems. Which is why I am interested in trying another approach

for my Skyler.............

Donelle, thanks for your inquirey about my Skyler. She has never had an ear

infection, or fluid, problem in her ears. The school system here did send her to

have her hearing checked before they put her in the school program, and all was

well. She does seem to hear well as even a whisper (as I conducted my own

tests!) will cause her to turn around. She has great eye contact when spoken to,

but does not respond verbally. She is in an all day public pre-school through

our county. The class has 6 kids, all autistic pre-schoolers, and a wonderful

teacher. Some of the children verbal, some not, and gets 30 min. a week of

speech at school. Have just changed insurances to be able to get her more

private therapy as we ran through all our other would do for her, which was not

much, two months " per incident " was what they gave her, so she only has gotten

two months of formal therapy and the school therapy has also just started as I

had to get it put in her IEP. So I hope she will make speech progress through

all this. She does not do alot of stimming, though she does line toys up on

accasion. her main lack is in speech..........

Elaine, I may have worded my email not quite right about speech and prozac.

speech is just her biggest issue, which is why I threw that in there. Prozac,

from what I understand, just kinda calms them down so they can focus better on

the task at hand, all be it speech, school work, relief from aggitation, ect.

Though I am not sure, which is why I am taking her to a developmental ped. and

posed the question to the group about any experience with prozac, or for that

matter any other drug as I am interested in possibly trying something, though I

have just started researching this topic, and am not sure it is the right path

for her yet... have you had any experience with prozac?

Okay, I understand now. No, I haven't any experience with Prozac. We have

on risperdal and just recently added clonidine. It helps but I am not sure we

have found the magic pill yet. LOL! It slows her down but I am not sure it is

enough, yk! She does much better on it though.

Let me know what the dr says.
