Guest guest
I have a non-Aspie friend that I started talking to about eye contact once and when I told him all the reasons I thought it was intimidating to me, he all of a sudden became very self-conscious about looking at anyone. It didn't take him long before he could go back to meeting a person's gaze, but this " AS experience " certainly had an effect on him. Tom Administrator You know, in addition to the agressiveness of eye contact, I started looking at it from the mating standpoint and I realized that I feel too forward if I hold a man's gaze, it feels too intimate, as though I am not allowed to do that unless I am interested in them. Anyone else feel this way? This makes me think that for us, we may be like the animals in how we view eye contact. > > >

Anyone else feel this way? Yes I do too, although I feel I've had an easier time conversing with men. I've been very creeped out by guys who found me attractive and try to hold my gaze. They were fascinated by my green eyes and told me so. These were the types who would not stop staring. I find it extremely unsettling to look up and find someone who won't look away and when you look down then back up they are still looking. I do not dress flashy and rarely wear makeup any more because when I do look good I attract unwanted attention. So I keep my glasses on instead of contacts and try to be drab looking. My bad habit with eye contact is when I do look right at someone who is speaking to me it's a bit intense, like I'm looking right through them. I might not blink enough or show enough facial reactions maybe.
