Hi Chuck,

Welcome to this support group! Our neighbor's name is Dean Cornelious.

Do you have a brother living in WIsconsin?

good thing you were finally sent to a rhuematologist hey? Nowadays the

Stills Disease is generally being diagnosed quite quickly. My first bout

with the " dragon " as we sometimes call it, was in 1971. I had a couple

of remissions, and then have had the disease steady since 1979. I was

*not* diagnosed until 1987.

Please feel free to come to this site whenever you wish. This is a great

support group Chuck. I just wish I had a support group like this for the

years

of living with the Stills that I have been through. It would have made it

easier.

Here' hoping you will be able to get back to work very soon!

My name is Chuck Cornelius from Houston, Texas. I was Dx with Stills in

October of 1991 at Stanford University. I was in the mist of a full blown ,

" text " book, version of stills, but unknown to my Family Doctor, the

internist, and the infectious disease doctor. After nearly two months of

testing, including a bone marrow biopsy, I was sent to the reumatologist who

took one look and said " you have Stills. " I was then given the proper

medication and a month later I was back to " normal. "

Since 1991 I have had a few outbreaks, with mild affects. Since June 2003 I

have been fighting another bout. Fevers, weight loss, muscle-joint pain,

etc...I am on Plaquinel, Enbrel, Prednisone now. A side affect from the

first bout is that my pancreas was damaged by the fevers, and spleen

enlargement. Therefore, I was Dx with Type II diabetes two years ago. I

now have to deal with Hyperglycemia (mild with diet) too. I should be able

to go back to work soon, thank god!!

JUney,

I can so relate to your decision to Have wls. I have had previous WLS

and So had to make this decision multiple times.....I Decided to do it on my

own after My RNY and Dieted all the way from 299 to 377. I feel like there is

some point in our lives where we know in our hearts we will never be able to

do this on our own and if we do won't be able to keep it off. That's where Dr.

K and his likes come in . Thank God we have this option. As a failed RNY with

ALL rge bad side effects and none of the benefits of WLS, I am very Anti RNY

so I think the DS is the best idea I have come across. My whole story is

located in the address below. I had My revision and have lost 111lbs(Not

counting

the slight bounce up) I still have 60 more to get to my goal of 200, but slowly

I'm Whittloing down that number. I do good when I stick to basics, but I'm

sometimes a Baaad Girl....LOL.

Welcome...we are as the groups says friends, so we discuss all, tease,

pick at, laugh with each other, cry with each other and best of all support

each other. Jump in with both feet and have fun!

The one thing I did like about the it type medical care was that I could pull any thing out of my records I wanted..It is wasn't necessary I pulled it..If I had a cruddy attitude with the DR it was because he was an A*@.. Not due to the fact I have bronchitis OK..So if he wanted to make little notations on my chart well on route to next duty station that page was lifted...Very legal, it does not prevain to my medical condition..Kathy b.Gail Deveaux <gaila@...> wrote:

I plan to get all the info--as a Navy wife, I learned to make sure I got copies of my medical record (and actually read through it after one doctor wrote a vicious personal attack, calling me a racist for no reason other than disagreeing with him on something--and I removed that page, thus I amnto wguilty fo defacing govt, property).

RE: INTRO

They will do bloodwork and eventually a biopsy to see what genotype you are and the biopsy on the liver to see how much damage is done to the liver.Make sure you get copies of the results of every test and keep it for yourself so you can compare how you are doing from report to report.Plus if you have to go to another doctor he will need all the info and he can photocopy your copies.Take one day at a time.Things will work out.I was genotype one which is the hardest one to clear.I finished my treatment in March of 99 and have been undetectable since.Keep the faith.

I'v learned if they dont' gt my jokesm they're a BAD fit. The GI psecialist got them, AND he didn't unerpaly the side effects--I've learned that when a doctor say "well-tolerated by aptient" it REALLY means "the patient didn't die, nor did they come back and shoot me." The Navy was interesting--I had some of the best doctors i've ever dealt with, and a coupel of the worst. My crrent civilian doc is a alrge African American man with wry sense of hunmor--he and my hsubnad (I ALWAYS brign a witnes into the examining room; if they get upset about it, that means there is likely to be a problem) do a coemdy routien at my expense each time I see him. GOod guy. Like the GI specialist too--they seem to come in two types; the kinds who realizes that the illness has a human beign wrapped around it, and they ahve to treat the PERSON as well as the disease--and hte kidn who wish they could jsut remove the gut and deal with aht, without all thsi silly emotional issues that PEOPEL have. I've had both--I fired the one who had problems delaing with the whole peson VERY quickly.

You have the right attitude. So many specialist have the bedside manner of a toad.I think these are people that want to good in the world but don't know how to deal with people just the illness. They are needed but can be hard to relate too. They have a more serious problem then us.

GIL: SInce I've had some chronic health problems for the last 12 years, I've larend to stand up for myself, esp as a Navy wife because you move so foten, and the doctors tend to PCS out frequently, so once you get one traiend right, they leave..I've got lwo thyroid and chronci thyroid issues, ten develoepd a shoulder ttha acts up occasionlly alogn with facet joint syndrome--noen are seriosu, but the allergies to antibiotics ARE and I've had doctors give me stuff by mistake that could kill e. I read all package inserts and I keep a close eye ont he doctro. If I dislike one, I request a referral to soemoen else.

I didn't stop the treatment. I did one year of Peg Intron. Just saying that there is no way I would or could ever do it again. It did a lot of damage to my family - damage that cannot be undone sadly enough. But I did stick through it...

I actually was considering having another baby lol - so my son took me to Wal-Mart - that usually cures me of the baby-itis lol.

Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jen, I have been dx'd for around 7 - 8 years. Already did one round with Peg Intron, and decided afterwards, that there is no way that I would ever do it again. It was pretty harsh as I am also bipolar...

Anyways, I live in San Diego, CA, have four kids aged - 17, 13, 8 and 4. I work at a yacht sales brokerage - doing transaction coordination, listing coordination, closing coordination, web and graphic design and whatever else... lol - I love it. My husband is career Navy been in for 20 years.

Sooo, I guess that is it.

Suzie,

You just gave me a fit of giggles right behind my desk at work - I have a dog who thinks that she is a little girl - her name is Rosie and she is a three legged chow chow (she has a friend named Nina Darling who is a long eared basset too). I walked out the other morning to get a cup of coffee, and Nina Darling was on the couch watching cartoons and Rosie was sitting (not like a dog mind you) on the recliner with her one paw on the arm rest, and of course my camera had no batteries in them! We also share our home with two brat cats (my hubbys)

Hi Jen,

The stories I could tell about my owner are many but I have to wait til he's asleep. He's got me pretty well trained. He's my only cat, the way I figure it, one cat is O K, two are a tad suspect but THREE & you turn into "The Crazy Old Cat Lady Down the Street" one person, one cat is my motto. He who must be o beyed has just jumped up onto the desk so I must go & take care of his needs. Later

Check out our website - www.cabrilloyachtsales.com there are pictures and stuff - (also a pic of my son - he is so adorable lol - he will be 17 in august and would shoot me if he heard me say that. We have him working on remodeling a Californian sportfisher/trawler right now.

Hugs.
