Guest guest
LOL...ya know , I've never felt that pressure to wear makeup or be cute while teaching. I usually save my cute yoga pants and tanks for home workouts and wear my big t-shirts at the gym. I've always felt that I should cover up more at the gym so that I don't' intimidate any new exercisers. Probably because when I went to the gym as a fat slob I felt intimidated by those cute little aerobics instructors who look like they have never struggled with weight a day in their life. I even turned down an office job once, telling the recruiter that I preferred being able to go to work in no make up, without having to curl my hair, and being able to be in my sweats instead of skirts and heels. My DH says I'm the Butch Beauty Queen because in his opinion I look beautiful even though I never wear makeup and prefer throwing my hair up in a ponytail and putting on my sloppy sweats or jeans and sneakers to anything high fashion. Yeah, I think he was kissing up too. I really threw him for a loop when I decided on a PE major. LOL While I've never actually ventured in that direction, I must admit to having a few girl crushes. Tonya Re: Monday no noting As an aerobics instructor there is a certain amount of pressure to act the part, and to be honest, when I know I'm color coordinated and looking good my classes go better. I wear makeup when I teach class. Image *is* important imo when teaching to a large group of people! I have anywhere from 17 - 37 people depending on the time of year. However, when I work out at home I'm all about comfort. Sports bra and underwear only sometimes! I love that no one can see me and I can just work out and get the job done. Nonetheless - I work out harder at the gym in front of others (and Noel) and looking good is part of the experience. And Geoff, Honey - this is a diverse group and as the list owner and bisexual myself, I love that you are a cross dresser and aren't afraid to say it I was the maid of honor in my friends' wedding in Austin a couple years ago and they are both M2F transgendered folk Hugs, ------------------------------------

Guest guest
Well, I don't have any maternity pants, but I do have several pair of sleep pants (both men's and women's) that I workout in a lot. I like them because they have fun patterns. You just can't get too upset by not being able to do a particular aerobics step when you have M & M's or Spongebob Squarepants on your butt! LOL I actually bought them a few years ago when I had a bad case of poison ivy and my doctor recommended them because they are really soft and wouldn't rub the bad patches that covered my legs. I even wore them to the gym. Everyone laughed at me, but totally understood when I explained why I was wearing them. I still wear them at home a lot. Tonya Re: Monday no noting I have a pair of maternity (small) workout pants because they were $4. You really can't tell and I probably will never wear them out of the house. ;-) Though when I DO get crazy fit, I may invest in a belly dance costume. The hole shebang. I just have the hip scarf right now. a Who is lounging in a ripped T-shirt. > > > > " knew a Firmie on another list who always did her hair and wore a push > > up bra when she did Firm Vol 2. Guest guest
I actually tried to do step in my sleep pants (which I also ) love the other day. Apparently they are too long. I went down banged up my knee and almost had one less cat. I wear them the better part of the time when I am home. My fibro makes street clothes extra uncomfortable, especially waistbands. Sponge Bob Squarepants, Sponge Bob Squarepants, SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS! > > > > > > " knew a Firmie on another list who always did her hair and wore a push > > > up bra when she did Firm Vol 2. Guest guest
Poor kitty and poor knee! I have to put kitties in another room when I work out, especially if I use KBs. I feel like a human wrecking ball when I use kbs.I use squarepants too, but I actually clip the extra fabric in front, right above the knee, before doing certain exercises, especially kb figure-8's-to-a-hold and tactical lunges. The loose pants will get in the way of catching the bell when I swing it behind the leg.. I just use those metal bull clips that you use for paper. So much for glamour. Glad nobody is watching. Guest guest
I usually do my more dangerous workouts in the other room.(Kettlebells when I get them will be in that category) I need to get a bigger tv and a new DVD player for my workout room SOON! All of my cats love yoga and abs. They try to workout with me. One of them walks underneath me in plank. I call him my personal trainer. I just posted a cute photo of Walter my youngest cat celebrating his birthday on my facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photo.php?pid=2224508 & id=684242979 & ref=nf :-) a > > > > > > > > > > " knew a Firmie on another list who always did her hair and wore a > > push > > > > > up bra when she did Firm Vol 2. Guest guest
I can't do loose clothes when I work out. I hate the feeling of it flapping around. I might start out with a t-shirt or sweatshirt on but underneath is my tank top and as soon as I'm warm the other stuff goes. I do yoga pants or shorts for the bottom. Re: Re: Monday no noting Poor kitty and poor knee! Guest guest
Well, since we're all talking about what we wear to workout, I'm generally a spandex shorts and an old t-shirt kind of guy. Actually I have one shirt that's so soft and comfy I don't want to part with it. Some of these things I have had for years and I just can't bring myself to throw them out and get new ones. How do you overcome that resistance anyway? I do wear long spandex pants or athletic pants in the wintertime though. That basement workout room gets cold at that time of year. > > > > > > > > " knew a Firmie on another list who always did her hair and wore a push > > > > up bra when she did Firm Vol 2. I miss her. Guest guest
If you're working out at home, you don't need to part with it. Nobody sees it, and if you love them, keep them.I personally can't stand clothes that fit tight to the skin. I even tried a cycling jersey once (for cycling), and even though it was a size too big, it drove me nuts. I don't even care if I'm aerodynamic when I ride my bike, or if it wicks better, or whatever. It irritates me. Guest guest
Sounds like some of you really put thought into your workout wear:-) I just wear capris and tank/cami tops. Aeropostale has some really great sale prices on their capris. they are light weight, cute and really comfortable for working out and running. They wear fantastic too. Pac Sun is a good place too. Their cami's fit a little more snug too, so you can move in them without having to worry about them sliding or moving around. They are all really cute, but not super creative outfits:-)
