Re: hi

Hey, Jade! I'm glad you logged on. This is a great group of people

from all over the place. As for calling me bossy...she's just

sore cuz I kick her butt more often than not in Scrabble. ;-) I think

you'll find this to be a good place to ask questions about growing into

adulthood, building a career, raising a family...all with a

disability. It's helped me a lot and I've made some good friends.

Love you...now do your homework before I get in trouble with your dad

for distracting you! ;-)

Amy and anyone interested:

Damian had a T/A on November 3rd at Mayo Clinic. His doctor said he

was recently at a conference that stated the recovery they are seeing

from a T/A are 100%, although he said he is a bit skeptical it is

100%.

I have a healthy 3 year old and a one year old that is following his

brother's footsteps in getting sick a lot as a toddler. Perhaps

it's nothing. How many people have more than one child with ?

Just curious.

Hi

Our pediatrician also attended the conference.  He promised to pay close

attention to the topic, he said there are usually a few talks on the

topic.  Anyhow, he actually texted me during the conference basically to say

that he is convinced that T & A will be 100% effective.  Please be aware that when

I mentioned the T & A to him several months ago (after reading about it on this

forum) he looked at me like I had 10 heads!! He also said that he learned that

there is a study being done with using higher dose of singulair (30mg), that

seems to be effective.  He told us that he reccommends that we hold off on the

medications until the summer, and he really wants us to consider doing the T & A

(especially since will be starting kindergarten next September).  Also,

when I mentioned that we will be trying the prednisone (as that was

rheumotologist's reccommendation to try it a few times), he stressed to us to be

sure that it was an actual

episode and not a bacterial infection, as there could be complications and

cause and an abcsess. Just thought I would mention that as I believe that it is

important information.  just had an episode and we used the pred. for

the first time, he offered to see to be sure it wasn't an infection, but

we were confident that it was an episode!! Lckily, the prednisone worked!!

190-proof grape or grain alcohol. I like grape alcohol for home and

body stuff, and grain alcohol for perfume.

Hi, .....

Welcome to the Natural Perfumery List.

While Aromatherapyand Natural Perfumery (NP) are related, this

list is focused on NP, primarily....

You will find, for example, that many of the essences used in NP are

*unacceptable* for use in AT....at least as many people teach AT....

While related, AT and NP are a different Way.......

As far as a perfume base, ethanol is used more than fixed oil bases in

NP........

Ethanol = Ethyl Alcohol = C2H5OH = Booze <G>.....

Vodka is ethanol, but as usually sold, its water content is too high for

successful dilution of many of the essences.

You need at least 150 proof (which is 75%)....

190 proof (95%) is better...

I'm not sure how readily that's available to you in Oz.....

Anyway....NP concerns the principles of perfumery, under the auspices of

*natural* essences, hence the designation 'Natural Perfumery'....

You'd be surprised, but there's a number of folks out there that think

for some reason they're doing NP, even though they incorporate synthetic

fragrance oils here and there in their work....

I can't figure out whether it's ignorance or deceit.....

Anyway, for an NP'er, created or nature-as or any of the other bogus

labels for those synthetic essences, by definition, are not Natural

Perfumery...or AT,for that matter...

I think the differences of NP/AT will clear up for you, when you take

your Cert IV in AT....

You will find that aspects of AT and NP coincide....Folks are

opinionated about this....some feel they coincide more, and others less...

Again...welcome to the NP List.....!

You really are not understanding me here.

First off you haven't gotten people in an uproar

I don't want anybody mad all of the time.

Kindness is a great thing. I'm all for it.

haven't checked my email in a few days so I didn't know what was

going on.  I was sick over the weekend but doing much better now.

Amy, we are just going to have to agree to disagree because I refuse

to live my life mad at everybody.  Maybe I don't always express

mysewlf correctly but I don't think there's anything wrong with

showing a fellow human being kindness and to treat them beter than

they have treated us.  I hope everybody had a great New Year and

let's get 2009 off to a great start.  Buy someone a drink or

it is really harder on the caregiver. Sounds like

you deserve a break.

Hi

Just wanted to check in to let you all know things are going okay for me. My grandma is doing a little better, we finally got her nausea under control. She's still got a lot of problems though. I also wanted to let you know that I will be leaving the group soon. I am turning over taking care of my grandma to my uncle and his wife. I will still be involved, just not living here with her anymore. It has just become more than I can handle. My grandma is a sweet lady, but taking care of her 24/7 with practically no help has been more stress than I can deal with. Over the last couple of months I've begun having a lot of insomnia, I've been eating too much, I've found myself at times getting irritated at her (though I try not to let her know) and I feel I am missing out on life. I'm not saying any of this is her fault- it's not, but I just can't continue to do this. I will be moving out of her house in about 2 or 3 weeks; I will be living with my parents again. I also plan to get a job after taking a couple of months off to recuperate.I will remain in the group for about another week- I'm cutting back all of my online activities to give me more time for other things. It's been good getting to know all of you- you've helped me a lot through a very difficult time in my life. I really appreciate the concern and information I've gotten here. Anyone from here that has my email and wants to stay in touch, feel free to write...I'll answer. Anyone who doesn't have it and wants it, just ask.Bye for now.

Hi , I am LMay livinf in Kansas for now. I was told I had early stage Parkinsons on my birthday in "99" at the age of 49 I had uncles that had it but no aunts so I thought that I was safe. Parkinsons can be in the family with out realizing it. Like a hand twitches or a leg twitches. I have a brother that has it too. And we have had it from birth and had the signs of it just nobody connected the dots. I have just started med's for mine. I do know that you will have to exercise to keep your muscles in the right shape and to eat smaller meals just more often. Good to meet you. may
