we had to take the bottle away cold turkey and he threw fits and finally got thirsty and took the cup. jesse (5) still throws fits about movies and cant seem to understand that they have to rewind. also the cup thing if he has a favorite cartoon like spongebob they make cups now that have them on it- and they are insulated to keep the milk cold longer. hope this helps!

god bless!

My son is now 8 (still on bottle) and we have been in a feeding therapy program for 1.5 years.

When he first started the program he had been drinking ensure and had the PICA (eating non edible items) too, we stopped the ensure and the symptoms stopped. It could be that your son is reacting to the casein in the pediasure. My son only drinks soymilk and does have cheez items and yogurt and pudding, but not to the degree he was with drinking the ensure.

We had the ensure through insurance and then I found at Sav On a soy supplemental drink and got that through Insurance. A year ago in Feb he started on meds, first risperdal and now Geodon, this helped him gain weight since he seemed malnourished at times and had been hospitalized prior times we tried to stop bottle and was dehydrated.

Anyway I would look for a supplemental drink to get the nutrients and stop the pediasure and see if the eating non edible items stops. The combination of the meds and stopping the ensure is what did it for my son.

Get the new book - just take a bite, I got it for $24.95 thru future horizons. There is another one listed on amazon called Can't eat, Won't Eat.

Is your son verbal, are you using PECS for communication? What State are you in? Other siblings?

H i Bonnie,

I have a 7 yr old who is also staying alive through Pediasure and I

have been trying to find a soy alternative that contains all of the

nutrients of the pediasure. What is the name of your soy drink and who

makes it? Any info would be so greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Wow, the more I read the postings the less I feel CB is one of a kind. He is now 7 and the only thing he said was "E'".Also he would burst into tears and bite us when the video was over. We had to explain to him the video wasnt " Gone ".We also had to explain to him that went he went to the bathroom the poo-poo would be back tomorrow( we actually said Bye Bye to it.) Tell him if he throws his stuff it will be " Mommy's Toy " from now on then take it away . I still have some pro jacks from last summer, he has to ask me to play with them ( and Ouch ! did they hurt ) Cb's Diet (if you would like to call it that is pepperoni pizza and Easy Mac and cheese. If he'll drink juice boxes , stick some liquid Vitamins in the box or bottle when hes not looking. The Bottle finally left us at age 4, but the pacifer was its replacement. He gave that up for chewy tubes(They sell chewy tubes on some of these therapy sites.) His school teacher will be able to give you good suggestions and get your guy into OT, ASAP. I know the road seems hideous right now, but take a deep breath. You've come to the right group. These guys are great !!!!!!

CB's Granny

ps. Start prompting his speech, Say the name of the thing ,withhold the object he desires until you get a responce, say Great Job. Do it EVERYTIME !

Doc told me any knee cap problem is called chondromalacia, so i have

already diagnosed with that.I went to see orthopedic. Now he is

waiting to see my MRI, then might ask me to go for physical

therapy.

Anybody know is naproxen a good one? Should i walk natural looking

or limp? Is it better for me not to walk so much now?

Do you know about knee tape? This holds your kneecap more medially to resist

the forces that are pulling it laterally that are causing the rubbing of the

kneecap against the femur. I can send instructions if you write me separately

(ruby2zdy@...). For me knee tape is the difference between being able

to get exercise and not.

Otherwise, you should probably do whatever you can that doesn't hurt, and/or

doesn't cause pain a day or two later. Use ice. Try the Stick on your thigh,

both front and lateral, and your hams. I've found the Stick to be a better

stretcher than passive stretching, since it digs in and forces each muscle cell

to stretch. I think passive stretching can sometimes cause a counter-reaction

in the muscles. But you should also do a leg stretching routine every day to

keep your hip/thigh muscles from being tight. I might be able to find something

I wrote on how I stretch my legs if you're interested.

Hi, I am new. My name is Charlotte and I have 2 children, a 11 year old son and a 4 year old daughter.

My son is currently being assessed for Aspergers, although I know he has it. At this point I am just waiting for the diagnosis in writing.

I always new there was something different with him, but did not know anything about "disorders and such" back then.....and did not have the internet!!

I just throught my kids was a little goofy and pretty quirky, I assumed he would outgrow most of it.

Had I had a clue back then he would have been diagnosed with pretty bad Sensory Integration issue. He has many AS red flags in all reports from pre-school up but he was social so I assume that is why no one sent us for a dx back then. At 7.5 he was described to me by his teacher as the "worst case of ADHD she had ever seen" and thought he should be evaluated. Of course it was the AS stuff combined with some ADHD stuff that made it seem so bad. He was not being "bad" but he was an emotional trainweck and thought nothing of laying on the floor crying IN THE CLASSROOM in a full blown tantrum if something wen't the wrong way in his day.

I took him for a neuropsych exam which indicated ADHD and .......something else....labled as "more" or "additional concerns"

Again, I did not know about AS at the time or that some can be socially outgoing just "bad" at it.

This is the age that his group of "friends" started shrinking. We are now in 5th grade and down to one. This is the first year that he is really realizing the rejection and has stopped trying with most kids, however he will still try and engage a "popular" kid in a conversation while the kid is practically running in the other direction.

His grades are A's and B's always, he has a hard time in some subjects but mostly because he hates them and thinks they are pointless. He is starting middle school next year and because of his pragmatic language issues his teacher is afraid for him.

I just wanted to send an intro, I am psyched that I have the answer but somewhat depressed that I missed all of this so long ago!

-Charlotte

What a great group of people! Thank you Deb, Pat, , & Jon for your thoughts. Your words have been an inspiration & calmed my fear just a bit. This is the best day I've had since being diagnosed. I actually worked out & put on makeup, lol. Someone mentioned I should start taking Milk Thistle. This should be okay, right? Well, I'm off to the vitamin & book stores. I look forward to learning more about each of you and your situations. Maybe I can reciprocate your support once I get on my feet. > > > > Hello to everyone, I'm . Hi Deb,

I've lost 55 lbs so far and I've still got almost 100 to go! This program has

changed my life. It works whether you've got 10 lbs to lose or 100. But you have

to do the work. It is hard work, but it is totally worth it. Once you get into a

routine, it becomes a lifestyle and doesn't seem like so much work. We're here

for you if you need anything along the way...

I don't know much about Thurmond's program...sorry.

Welcome! Look in the photos section in Mina's folder. She lost at

least 100 pounds.

I don't know much about any other nutrition and training disciplne

other than BFL but the way that BLF incorporates nutrition with

training is the basis of how bodybuilders follow their regimens. BFL

really works at helping to burn fat and build some fat burning muscle.

BIG pro for BFL it’s free (other than the cost of the book and a few

weights) Thurmonds is (quote from the website)….6 Week Body

Makeover Program costs approximately $1,400 - $1,500. I certainly would

want to pay that much money!! If you do 12 Weeks its $2,800 to

$3,000!!! It sounds like a scam to me!!! If I had an extra $3,000

laying around I certainly wouldn’t spend it that way! I’d save it for a

boob job after they go bye bye due to BFL ROTFLOL!!!!

Just my 2¢
