Welcome to our little group! :) Regarding the low fat peanut

butter - most of them have a lot more sugar so if that is a

concern, you may want to keep that in mind. And, not only does it

cost more, it also tastes different and has a different texture.

You're going to love this group. They are all very accepting and

wonderful.

Hi,

Can you visit your public library? They may have diet books on the exchange diet. Plus they may have videos for you check out.

Hey Robin,

I am also 39 and have one teen daughter and a preteen daughter. After a year of off/on trying to lose weight, I am pack on track for good. I recently purchased Dr. Weil's 8 Weeks to Optimum Health. It is a common sense approach to weight, exercise and life. It takes a holistic approach and exchanges bad habits for good ones. I had read many articles by him in Natural Health magazine and after some research I found this program is one my whole family can live with.

Good luck

Two things to try:

http://www.hussman.org/fitness/bmrcalc.htm

This will help you figure out how many calories you should be eating.

http://www.fitday.com

You can enter what you eat in a day into this site and it will tell

you what percentage of your calories are coming from

carbs/protein/fat. When I stick to eating according to the BFL book,

without even trying, I end up with about a 40/40/20 ratio.

If you want calories and grams, here's a quick breakdown:

How Much Should I Be Eating

http://www.geocities.com/jgrrl2/howmuch.html

New Here

Hi,

I'm new here, in about the third week of my first challenge. So far

so good, the workouts are mediocre but I'm working on perfecting the

diet area. I don't have the money to join a gym, so I'm winging it

a bit with some home equipment until the weather warms up and I can

get outdoors for more cardio.

The problem I am having, and I read the book a bazillion times, and

I've been reading through some posts and such, but I don't really

think I should be eating what seems like so much. I realize that I

have to adapt my sick mentality of skimping on food, to actually

feeding my body; but if someone can direct me where to go to find

exactly how much by means of calories, or grams to meet the 40/40/20

ratio I should be eating I would appreciate it.

My progress is slow, but steady during these three weeks, so

hopefully it will continue through the end of this first challenge

into something I can continue for life.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats for coming back. We've got a couple gals here from Alaska.

Protein gone bad... DH had a huge tub that we had to throw out but

he kept it stored in the cupboard over the stove. That might have

had something to do with it. LOL I don't know if you can use the

sniff test, it all kind of stinks to me.

Good luck on your workouts and eating.

Welcome ita,

My name is Lorie and I live in Seattle. You did the posting correctly. I

joined the group last November and have found it to be the best thing that

has happened to me since the invention of Chocolate. I have been diagnosed

off and on with a viral infection, Mono, lymphoma, RA, Stills, and now an

Autoimmune disorder of the liver. So, who knows , the first 4 on my list

have been eliminated so that leaves Stills and the liver. Hopefully I will

know more in about 10 days. I hope that you get some relief soon, these

flares that we can have can be pretty nasty at times. I am not on

disability since we don't really know whats going on right now. I try to go

to work, for my sanity sake, at least 3 days a month. I am thankful for

that.

Hope you post more, feel free to come here and vent, cry, share your stories,

etc.. we are here all the time.

Hi ita, and yes you did it right! I just wanted to say welcome, I was

only diagnosed back in October, but these peeps are great! Unfortunatly I

know nothing about this disability dealie due to my living in Canada, but I

can say I think it is a lot easier to get EI for disability here than in the

states. It was so easy. , how did you find it?

Patti at first with EI i had it easy but medical and regular claims are

different .You are only allowed 15 weeks on medical claims im on my second claim

now and only few weeks left who knows what im gonna do after that.Im gettin

better and hope to return to work soon, its gonna get real busy and if i can get

healthy enough i can make sum real money.I do not beleive i would get accepted

for disability at the time being even though when in a flare i wouldnt be able

to hold down any job.I might end up gettin an easier job ive been thinkin about

blackjack dealing seen few free training classes in paper think ill try next

1.Thing is i havta watch unemployment for this too lol they dont like you taking

courses while on unemployment ill havta acually get there approval ahead of

time.Ive always had hassles with unemployment Patti are you on it rite now too

if not and you have trouble with them keep hounding them till u get answers i

thnik they make up some of the stuff as they go.For instance my lastest hassle

was i couldnt be on medical claim and work a little as my doctor suggested, they

said it was either medical or regular claim nothin in between BS.What would they

rather me do i ask them stay home collect money or work what i can and they kick

in some help,oh well my unemployment is runnin now wow u got me started Patti

lol take care. d.Canada

Welcome Lillian. :)

I'm Ann and I live in Houston with dh and two daughters ages 7 and 3.

I've lost 27 pounds but it's taken me over a year of going up and down.

Ugh. I'd like to pick up the pace a bit since I still have 90 pounds to go.

:)

I didn't know you were smaller than your wedding weight! That is so cool!

One of my goals s to be able to fit into my wedding dress on my anniversary

this year. If so, I will post a pic, even though I will probably look like

the crazy old lady from Great Expectations! LOL

> Hi everyone,

Welcome, Lillian. I'm glad you decided not to hide in the corner like a lot of newcomers. :)

Be sure to stop by the web site for an expore, especially the Files page. Loads of goodies to keep you busy.

Sometimes just that little bit of extra exercise can jump-start your metabolism. Hang in there, and take baby steps. Remember, it took you 10 years to gain this weight so it's not going to come off fast. Aim for a pound or 2 a week and no more. If it comes off too fast, it'll come back on just as fast if you slip.

> Weighed in at 120 when son was born 10 years

Wow! Last time I weighed that little I was in 8th grade, and that was after 2 years of harsh dieting at 1000 cal/day!

HI, Thanks for support. My day is almost over and I've stayed under

the 1800 calories per day mark so far. I hope I make it through the

night. Lives in Newark when I was little, where about are you in NJ?

Take care,

Right across the bay in Bayonne, but hubby works in Newark and the kid goes

Congrats on your loss - there's no sense in spending another 10 years this way because it will only get worse. What motivaton you have with those 2 little ones :) you won't be the only one benafitting from getting healthy :)

<<Wish me luck as I wish all of you luck>>

I'll wish you luck - but you'll need more than that I urge you to make a plan - menu, exersising and water - the whole thing, it makes it so much easier!
