Connie,

It was Melinda, not me, who sent you the great advice on hot flashes.

I don't know much about them (yet) however I would recommend going to

www.emofree.com and checking out EFT for them. I have read it really helps.

Just another tidbit to aid you in your search for relief.

Good Luck and God Bless,

(Miss) :-)

sarah - thanks for the info! looks easy enough...and i'm glad the

brew time is much longer than kefir!! that fits in perfectly with

my disorganized harried lifestyle LOL -

one question - where do you get the rootbeer bottles? can i use any

other bottles? meaning - is there something that i should avoid?

(like certain caps)

one more question - what does a baby scoby look like? are there

pics somewhere of what the process looks like?

it's what I use - it works great. Feel free to use the " old scoby "

if it has liquid in it still and is not moldy (which it should not

be if it's in the fridge). Oh - and the main thing I learned - the

scoby more than likely will float on top and that is just fine! If

you try to push it down, the baby will not form on top. Trust me!!

>>Excellent ...I just want to add that if you add vinegar be sure it is

NOT RAW....use distilled white vinegar or pasteurized to prevent cross

contamination of cultures....Gayle

-----------------------------

- Just incase you weren't sure exactly why you might need the distilled

vinegar - if there is enough KT in the jar or container with your scoby (1/2 cup

or more) you don't really need the vinegar. If there is a very small amount, the

distilled white vinegar will help the process along. Some people have made KT

just using a scoby and vinegar and sugared tea. It can be done. For my first

couple brews (because my scoby only came with about 1/4 cup of KT) I mixed the

KT in the batch, placed the scoby on top and then added a bit of vinegar on top

the scoby. It worked out beautifully! Feel free to ask any other questions.

Kombucha has been wonderful for my own disorganized and

body-doesn't-always-cooperate life. I found early on that if I couldn't

bottle my KT when it seemed just right and it got a bit to sour for me,

that was easily amended by a tiny bit of stevia, crushed sweet fruit or

fruit juice. Not much is needed to make your KT delicious once again.

From my experience, KT is unlike kefir which takes just minutes but

needs to be tended every day (or two at most) at our house.

The jars I use are 1 gallon glass pickle jars and the older style, lower

priced 2 gallon Anchor Hocking glass canisters. You'll learn of other

possibilities here, too. Everyone has their favorites!

The bottles I use are French lemonade swingtop, but you will find many

types and preferences, depending on what is available and has been most

successful for each person. There is great advice within this group re

bottling safety do's and don't's.

The Photos section has pictures of scobies, young and old.

Have fun!

To your health and good times,

Lois

No problem. Everyone takes theirs out at different times. The longer you leave

it, the more vinegary it will taste. I love mine at 7 or 8 days - it still has a

bit of sweetness (but that may also depend on what type of tea you are using).

You can put it in pretty much anything you like, though most people suggest

glass. If you had an extra glass jar with a tight lid you could use that or you

could use something smaller. I use Perrier bottles - wine bottles would work

well too. I also use glass bottles from organic milk that I buy from the grocery

store. I went on a hunting trip to the grocery store and bought a few bottles of

things that I would like to drink that were in glass bottles that I could

re-use... two-fold purpose! Just look for some bottles you like. And lastly - a

baby scoby will form to the same size and shape as your jar - on top of the

other scoby, on top of the liquid. It will look newer and whiter than your

mother and look kind of like a skinny pancake. Once you take it out after

brewing, it should be fairly easy to peel the two apart if your baby grew nice

and thick. Have fun!

Hi Connie,

I will be doing my reflexology soon. So consider mine almost done. : )

What's going on with your weight? Would you like to have a partner and

we can private email each other daily? Believe me, when I follow what

Rashelle has taught us for years; the eating every few hours a small

amount throughout your waking hours has made a difference for me.

Let's talk more about this. My email is 'winwithlifelift@...'.

Hi Connie

I am not doing real well, either. I think it has something to do with

menopause. I haven't done my reflexology today yet. I keep plugging

away, athough. Don't give up.

Hi, Connie - I did my reflexology last night, too, along with Workout #1 and

various breaths all during the day. I even started off by doing 10 LL breaths

and the Chinese Belly Rub before I got out of bed. My jeans are sure fitting

looser. I didn't gain any weight over the holidays, Praise the Lord, but I did

when I spent more than 3 weeks with bronchitis. I didn't eat horribly, I just

didn't move much. My mistake was that I didn't make myself do anything,

including the LL breathing. I wish I had because I gained 5 lbs! At any rate,

I've been doing my LLing every day for the last 2 weeks, and the gained weight

is all gone. I almost had another pound gone this a.m.

I will say that during the last few months, I've been at a virtual stand-still

with my weight and I'm not sure why. I'm trying stepping up my exercise

program. Specifics are that I'm continuing to do my karate 3 days a week (2

classes and 1 evening of sparring) and I'm LLing every day. My aim is to do the

Chinese Belly rub with 10 breaths before I get out of bed very painless. I also

scatter 10-20 breaths at one time throughout the day. Sometimes I've even done

40 breaths, like before lunch. These are all just standing in with hands on

knees and concentrating on really pulling the abs up and in. Then, I try to do

one of the LL workout videos. I'm varying those every day. For example, I did

#1 last night, so tonight I'll do #2. I follow that with the Reflexology DVD

including the facelift.

This seems like such a peaceful, painless way to get my exercising in.

Connie, try not to be discouraged about your weight. I know that's easier said

than done, but I figure if I'm even sort of moving in the right direction,

that's a good thing.

Love and hugs,

Melinda :o)

Thanks Melinda, I am not discouraged, I will start again tomorrow.... I am

giving up sugar and whites. I know that will help. With my LL and walking and

weight program. You stay good too!

Hi Melinda,

What a great inspiring post you shared with us. Thank you for that.

When I'm sick with brochitis it is hard for me to stick with much LL

breathing; I just do the best deep breaths as I can because I know it

will get everything moved out of me so that I can breath better.

I think a lot of us are at the peri or menapause state. So any ideas

out there to get past these issues are more than welcome. ; )

Yes, I'm part of our little life changes club here. I'm currrently taking Maca

and that helps. I've read recently that it really makes a difference for those

of us in perimenopause and/or menopause.

I've been LLing all day and I'm feeling better because of it.

? I can totally understand what you are going through with the chemotherapy and

the side effects. It really does a number on you. I have a lot ?of nausea and

vomiting but I am given Aloxi prior to infusions and I also take zofram under

the tongue ( they dissolve instantly) every 4-6 hours and that seems to help.

Talk to your doctor if the nausea continues to be a problem. I know my

oncologist keep on top of that. It is very nerve racking. I also ( don't laugh )

live on pedialyte ice pops and gatorade. Chemotherapy is tough and extremely

painful on the body mentally and physically. I have no veins what so ever so I

have an infusaport and let me tell you it is the greatest. I had it inserted a

couple years ago and I get all my chemo, fluids, blood work and whatever else

right through it. I only get stuck once and it can be kept accessed for up to

one week before needing to be changed. Talk to your doctor there are alot of

different options for us with bad veins.

???? I hope you keep your strength up and know you are in my thoughts and

prayers.

Hi Danni,

It is so nice to hear from you! I'm sorry I haven't posted earlier, I

haven't been feeling well at all. This morning has been the best so

far. My body feels in shock with all of these new meds and anti-

nausea meds. It just feels like you are taking medication all day

long to keep up with the pain. My whole face was in pain, it hurt to

drink water or swallow. My insides feel like they are turning inside

out. I am taking Tylenol and Benadryl every four hours and I have

Adavin for bedtime. I take them all at the same time. I did get a

pretty good sleep finally last night. But it has been rough. I have

anti-nausea meds on hand, I will be sure to take them even if I'm

feeling OK. My retuximab went well on Monday, but I still have the

lingering effects of the chemo. Please tell me that it will get

better next time? I'm hoping my body is going to adjust better to it.

I received a shot called GCSF yesterday that I take now for the next

four days to get my bones producing white blood cells. It may cause

bone aches so I'm not looking forward to that. I appreciate your

thoughts and prayers. Are you still going for chemo or are you in

remission? How are you doing now?

long to keep up with the pain.

Regina congrats I wish I could lose weight

You can do this too! Pick one thing that you can do this next week to be healthier and focus only on that. Water? Journaling? Picking healthier foods to eat?

Where are you at, at the beginning of the journey? I'd pick journaling then. Don't even try to figure out points or calories or whatever else for the food. Just get honest about what you are putting into your body:

1 bite of macaroni/cheese (or 2 cups)

1 handful of peanuts

1 yougurt

1 apple

2 hotdogs with buns

chocolate kisses - 20

(hey, this could be my journal here, don't laugh!)

you get the point...... then next week, let's look at how you journaled this week and see how you can change things for the better: picking fruits, veggies, better grains, etc (this is something I always have to work on too).

After a couple of weeks of getting your journaling going, maybe start exercising if you aren't. If you are, how can you increase things, etc....

Good luck! Just remember you *can* do this!

It's taken me a long time, but I have finally released 55 lbs. I'm not in a hurry, this is about making changes that can last forever.
