Hi - glad you finally jumped in! We DO need to hear more

positive stuff. I think that often the people who have only mild side

effects don't write in to these groups. They probably don't need the

kind of support and information that those who do have bad side

effects need. But that does leave us with hearing mostly negative

stuff and gives the impression that everyone has a bad time, when

really most cope ok. It may not be fun, but it's usually tolerable.

Everyone person I know who has done the old combo and is now doing

the peg combo say the peg is much easier than the old stuff too. Good

luck on your treatment. Hopefully it will work for you!

Hi :

You know I did try elephant ears last year, and started the bulbs in

small pots. they grew to about a foot and I guess got root bound and

stopped growing. I got too tired to plant them in time so they died.

Can I plant them in the shade and still grow? Or do they need sun

initially? I want them badly as I'm going for the garden district

look and they do look great don't they?!

Thanks,

Rhonda

Hi,

I planted mine in an old barrel that the bottom was out of and they did good in the shade and the sun. I found that the ones in the sun needed a lot of water while the ones that had shade at least part of the day didn't need as much care. Did you grow the jumbos or the dwarfs? I had mine in the house for a year and they grew to be 6ft tall and the leaves were as much as 18 inches across. My husband said no more because they took up to much room in the living room and our place is small.

My cats liked to drink the water off the leaves go figure.

Good luck,

W.Va.

Just a note on elephant ears. I have recently moved into a home that has a very shady backyard. My ears grow beautifully in this shady moist area. In fact, I need to move them to another location because they are draping over the sidewalk. I also want to get them away from this area because of my grandchildren. I was told they e.ears are poison. Don't know if this is true but don't want to find out. Good luck with a plant that is trouble free.

Hello !

The full name of my liver specialist is Dr A Rubin and I go see him

at Piedmont Hospital here in Atlanta. I'm so sorry to hear about your itching;

I went thru that and it was not fun at all; thankfully I was given an rx for it; when I start getting the severe itch I thought it was the liver but actually was

one of the side-effects of one of my meds. make sure that you mention that

tommorow to your md so he can help you with it. Take good care of yourself and I truly hope that you feel better. God Bless You !

Dear Tony,

Hope your biopsy goes well and you are comfortable after the test. I will be thinking about you tomorrow.

[ ] Hello !

Hi !I hope that everyone is doing well. I just returned from the retreat and it wasa very refreshing time. I'm all set to leave early tomorrow morning to havemy liver biopsy. I'm hoping that my new liver specialist will have the samegentle touch that Dr Rubin had here in Atlanta. I really didn't feel a thing when I had my last liver biopsy last august. I got some important issues outof the way today including drafting my will. When I say these things to you I'm not been discourage at all; I just know that whenever you have a terminalillness is always a good idea to get certain things in line that way once youdo you don't have to discuss them with your family and can concentrate on getting better. Here is something for you all !

Count Your BlessingsIf you woke up this morning with more health than illnessyou are more blessedthan the million who did not survice this weekIf you never experiencedthe danger of battlethe loneliness of imprisonmentthe agony of tortureor the pangs of starvationYou are ahead of 500 million peopleIf you can attend a church meeting withoutfear of harassment, arrest, torture or deathYou are more blessed than three billion peopleIf you hold up your headwith a smile on your faceYou are blessedbecause the majority can, but most do notIf you can read this messageyou just received a double blessingthat someone was thinking of youand furthermoreYou are more blessed than over two billion peoplewho cannot read at all

Regarless of what my medical condition is today; I'm so thankful that God hasblessed me with the years that I already had and the things that I have beenable to obtain and the places that I been able to see. Each new day for meis truly a gift of God's Love for me. Take good care of yourself and I will beback wednesday and let you know who things went. God Bless You !Tony

Wow what a small world it is! I used to work for L & B Laboratories on Peachtree Road right down the street from you. What a nice area that is in Buckhead. I love some of the restaurants there. I think L & B is closing it's office there. When I left, they had not enough people to manage all 3 offices so had to close one. You see, it was my boyfriend who owned the company but he took advantage of my abilities, paid me a pittance and spent the company money, and so I left to start my own practice in Chicago. It is called Chrysalis Anaplastology, Inc.

I like the name because it is like a rebirth, a new beginning. Most people don't know what it means but I think it's fine for what I do.

How are you feeling?

Dear Patty,

Anaplastology is the art and science of restoring a facial part lost to cancer, trauma or congenital birth defect with artificial materials (ie: medical grade silicone, heat cure acrylics).

So this includes: artificial eyes, noses, ears or even half of the face. All are extra-oral, but can be attached to obturators (artificial palate) if needed, with clips, magnets or pins. Or the artificial facial part can be attached to a bone anchored titanium implant, so no adhesive is required.

It can also include somato-prosthetics such as artificial fingers, toes, feet or custom mastectomy forms. All of the work is made just for that person, so it is custom made, not mass produced.

Thanks for asking! I really enjoy helping people get back out in the world, who have been cooped up inside because they were stared at all the time. Now they can go about unnoticed and feel normal.

Tony, I am ever so happy to know you are back with us. Gosh, you frightened all of us...we didn't know how you were...we tried to track you down, but thank God, you are back!

[ ] Hello !

Hi !You are all so sweet! Thank You for your e-mails today. I just got back fromthis morning service at my church and it was quite uplifting seeing everyonethere again. God has been so good to me for allowing me to withstand myrecent storms. Because of the severity of my medical condition I feel so veryblessed for been here able to share my love with you. I did find the little poem that my sister had sent me. It was written in spanish but here is the meaning in english.

May God Give YouA rainbow for every stormA smile for every tearA promise for every goalA blessing for every trialA true friend when problems arriveA song for every wishandAn answer for every prayer

If the weather your way is anything like in Atlanta today; stay away from theheat. As I mentioned earlier, tomorrow I'm receiving a treatment of Procritto assist with the loss of energy due to low red cells. Take very good care ofyourself. Joan I'm so sorry that we didn't get to meet but I stayed pretty sickthrought the entire phase one. Hopefully upon my return my body will havea better reaction to phase two which now is also going to last as long as thefirst one. One thing I do miss is having all my meals prepared for me with somuch love as my family did in New York, that or course was when I was able to eat but even when I couldn't I always manage to keep down some ensure, jello, soup and sometimes a little lettuce with tomatoes. God bless you mydear friends.Tony

Thank you, Tony. Your words made me stop and think, in a day that has been

filled with much much more than I am normally used to. My oldest son,

, came out from CA last night with my only grandchild (Arlee, 3 years

old and just beautiful, as only 3 year olds can be), neither of whom I'd

seen for over a year. My youngest son lives with me, so I have that joy

every day, but I so rarely have the joy of even talking to my Arlee on the

phone that I have been overwhelmed with this visit. (in a good way) It's

very tiring, both physically and emotionally, but that's only because I have

been so sedentary and alone for so long, and my own children have long been

grown. I am thankful, very thankful, that I lived to see her. I very nearly

didn't.

Tony,

I hope tomorrow finds you feeling better. I know how upsetting it is to

watch your cell count drop. Hang in there. They changed my friends meds 2

years ago and her cell counts when way up. Hopefully this will happen for

you too. We do miss you but understand how difficult it must be for you to

post at times. Just know that we are all thinking of you and praying for

you.

Tomorrow is another day and I hope it finds you feeling much stronger.

Dear Tony,

You go to Spain!

I hope your counts go back up soon and the

nausea goes away ASAP.

[ ] Hello !

Hello My Dear Friends !

I hope that this e-mail finds you well. I'm sorry that I have not been able to

post too much lately. I have taken a big dive but I'm holding on with all that

I have. There is a possibility that I may not be able to continue on my clinical

trial since the doctor in New York is concern about the current status of my

inmune system. He feels that phase two might be too severe for me to undergo at

this time and the hiv virus does not want to light up right now. My

CD4 cell count dropped to 38 and that is below the 50 minimum requirement.

My internist had no choice but to increase my hiv meds to see if my cells will

increase. The nausea is beyond believe and even with nausea medication. My

internist is monitoring my situation extremelly close but he told me that

if I continue to drop cells and there is no improvement in 60 days that I

should get things in order which I already had anyhow. Since my birthday is

in January I already made plan to go to Spain for a week and He thinks that

was not wise for me but I'm going. I know that I'm going to make it out of

these. Yesterday I have an extremelly bad day but when I finally was able to

fall asleep I had a dream that took me to a place full of beauty and peace. I

know that it was a way for God to let me know that tomorrow is coming for me

and I'm so grateful to Him for showing me His Love through this very trying

days. I had some e-mails to answer to some of my friends in the group

that had sent me one and I will try to do that today if I'm able so please

don't

feel that I have ignored you. I trust that you will continue to be the best

that you can in life and please try not to let the illness change who you are

and

your heart's desires. I know there are others at there been challenge as I'm

but when we can stand firm and fight back that is the heart of a winner and

believe that things will work out. I love you all very much and I'm always

thankful for the opportunity to express myself. May God Bless You and always

keep you safe.

I adopted Tazz from his original owner. The lady was expecting her first child and the doctor ask her to let the dog go. That was the name that she had given him and since she was sad to having to let him go she ask

Cool Tony! Glad you are feeling better today! This is great. Aren't animals wonderful? I was just writing to a friend about missing my Mom so badly today. I talked with my sister in law this AM and we talked about Mom. (She died this past March) Anyway, I began missing Mom sooo much. Didn't think much about it until I started driving home and I started crying. Then, when I got home, I received a letter from Mom's neighbor. It was beautiful...about a mother who raised her children.....the children took care of their ailing mother until she died...but not before she had taught her children how to live and stand on their own.

Anyway, I started sobbing because the piece was ever so beautiful! How thankful I am that Mom "sent" that to me through her neighbor!

What I started to say was that my cat came and started loving on me because I was crying....animals....they are wonderful creatures. They seem to know when you need them the most...and THIS cat is NOT at all loving until I get sad...then she "puts" up with me! LOL.....like someone said, "Dogs have people. Cats have staff!"

Dear Tony,

It is a cute name! I am glad he is giving

you so much joy! He is a darling little dog too. What breed is he?

I wonder why in the world a doctor would

ask someone to give up their pet? Seems

so heartless.

My doctor asked me to give up my three

kittens because I had an asthma attack, but I sent them to their breeder. I

knew I would get them back someday. Well, I moved to Chicago (home) and she brought them up to me from Florida. They weren’t kittens anymore! They are huge RagaMuffins now, two are quad grand champions. She was

showing them for me too!

Have a nice day! I am off today, so I am

resting and then I have to do some cleaning. I had two patients here at the house

and my lab looks like a bomb hit.
