Blurry vision may be associated with a vitamin B1 or B12 deficiency. ODonnell <jlod2@...> wrote: Hi all, Does anyone know of a less constipating iron supplement, if so how much would you recommend? Another question I have is one of my patients came in today, she is 1 year post op and reports blurry vision. Have any of you heard of this before? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Don,

Not all rules re: liver and/or hepatitis C are the same for everyone. I would definitely talk to your doctor about this. I know a few people with liver disease who have low iron and need to take supplements. Your doctor certainly should know all about iron and the liver. My understanding is the iron is bad in late stages of disease but not everyone needs to avoid it at all costs. If you don't have an appointment set up, either email, fax or call in your questions. Low magnesium can also be a problem.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi Ellen,

I don't mean to be rude but iron in food is not always a good thing.

If you do suffer from low iron then great, try to get extra iron in

your food - must be more pleasant than taking tablets but for a

minority of people too much iron is a problem. The body does not

excrete excess iron in the usual way so it builds up and can cause

serious health problems (and eventually a painful death) if the

excess is not known about and treated. Iron overload should not be

taken lightly.

on her soap box)

Hi

My latest ferritin levels were 22 the doctor has refused

To prescribe iron tablets therefore will get some via the chemist. I have tried

solgar gental iron but they did not agree with me can anyone recommend any. I do

have some ferrous sulphate from when I was pregnant. I have been taken tesco

iron but hey only have 14 mg of iron in them and they do not have seemed to have

raised my levels at all.

Also so I have to stop them when I go for a blood test

Thanks rachel x
