I'm sure Sheri will respond to you, but I just wanted to touch on a

couple of points you made.

However, there are still cases of polio around although not common.

### I believe all of those happened to people who were vaxed - as far

as I know there is no wild polio. But maybe that was only in US?

> I want to make sure everyone understand I am a VERY concerned

parent. I do not think the vaccines are 100% safe but I also can not

say I am totally against trying to vaccinate your kids to protect

them against these deadly diseases.

### Crucial point to understand: most of the diseases that there are

vaxes for are NOT deadly - not even close. There are actually more

cases of vax damage/death than there are cases of the diseases

itself - 4 or 5 times more !!!

I know you're in a tight spot - hope you can get some more useful

info. It's so sad that these agencies/government has to resort to

fear and threats when there are other options.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide,

Magda

My Peanut is almost 3 and a half, and she has never had an ear infection,

and I had TONS of them when I was a baby (most likely would have had tubes

put in, if I were a baby nowadays). She was born safely at home,

unassisted, never vaccinated (never been to an MD, actually - her only

" medical " care has been with a chiro and a dentist) and she is still

breastfeeding at night, as she cosleeps. It is amazing that she is so

healthy, in today's world!

Good for you Kim! :) Your child sounds much like mine... 2.5 years old,

born at home in water, never vaccinated, never been to an allopathic doctor

other than when he HAD to go to have a nut extracted from his bronchial tube

(parents, don't give your kids nuts till they are at least 4 years of age!),

still co-sleeps and breastfeeds for naps and at night. He is SO healthy and

happy all the time... I see my neighbors' kids dragging around with sickness

and my kid goes over and plays with them and just doesn't get sick, ever!

He even played with the boy across the street who was sick with strep and

didn't come down with it. Ahh the wonders of breastmilk! :) My son's

" doctor " is a chiropractor who likes to refer to himself as the

" anti-doctor " .... incidently, my chiro has 5 kids, ages 5-14, all born at

home, none are vax'd, none have ever been to a pediatrician, and they

EXTREMELY healthy.... go to daycares and school and NEVER get sick.

Forgive me for sounding naive, what role does a Chiropracter play in the whole

vaccine issue? I am reading more and more that parents are taking their

kids/babies to a chiro in place of an MD, I want to know more about that.

What it pretty much boils down to Rina, is the fact that chiros are mostly

alternative health. This means that generally they are accepting of people not

vaxing, and often are anti vax themselves. I know that the one I just started

seeing is against drugs and conventional treatment. Don't know if he is anti

vax, but wouldn't be surprised. Not only that, but many illnesses can be healed

by simply keeping our spines in alignment.

It seems that in the US, MDs can get very nasty about parents not vaxing. I am

sure there are ones here in Australia too. But I have not come across one yet.

There are many on this list who have recounted stories of doctors getting

outright abusive.

Fieldman.

I did before my lap. surgery. Now I just have good days. I could go days

Funny. If you are a bible reader you may remember the passage where

people had bird meat coming out their noses. It could come to mind at

some unpleasant moments. But with all the people that complain about

food or weight and how few people get achalasia, I doubt this relates to

complaints or wishes, but even so, I can relate to your jest.

Hi Notan!

Thank you so much for responding to my post. I have to share that I

have felt so confused and misunderstood over the past year by friends

and doctors who at times have made me feel like I was exagerating my

symptoms or something. Reading long strings of posts by people

describing EXACTLY what I am going through just made me cry last

night. (It was a helpful cry though) :) I am going to meet the

surgeon today and I am hoping for the best. It is good to hear you

say most of your days are good now after the surgery. Reading

those " lucky " food lists in the database made me wonder if people can

ever eat salad, raw fruits and vegetables again!?

Have a great day and again many thanks for welcoming me here.

I felt the same way, following surgery you will find some good info on here about what everyone is going through. Today is my 3 week ann of the surgery. Some things are good some are positive. It seems at home its all I talk about what i can eat what I cant eat, what new mile stones ect.... Don't expect people around you to understand this thing; its a crazy thing. This group really helped me too so I understand what you are going through....________________wes

, it is nice to meet you. I am . I am 39 and need to lose 120 pounds. I was at my heaviest at 294 and was petrified of hitting 300. I toyed at losing weight for a long time, but got really serious about 4 weeks ago. I am now at 277 and I am feeling really good about myself. I also read DR Phil's book the Ultimate Weight Solution and it really helped me and changed my outlook. I reccomend it to you. I know that you can do this. We both can. I will be hear to support you. Thank you so much for your advice. I did the book last year but stopped before reading the last few chapters. I don't know what suddenly made me stop but I know I need to start again. I need to fine my book and start from the beginning. I can't wait to see those numbers go down again. Chester <geomadtraem@...> wrote: , it is nice to meet you. I am . Welcome, Tig!

> I joined a few minutes ago and want to jump in before I change

my mind.

Don't worry - we don't bite! A few lashes with a wet noodle now and

then, maybe. :)

>I'm a 58 year old widow

My condolences. I lost my first husband when I was still in my 20's

(uncontrolled diabetes) but have now been married 30 years to this guy.

I'll be 55 in October.

>who has been up and down the scales since my early twenties.

I was born at 10 pounds and have been on weight loss diets since day 1

when the doc had the nurses water down my formula.

>It's frustrating and embarrassing to admit I'm such a failure.

You are *not* a failure! Many things mesh together to get us to the

weight we are, especially genetics! You just have to find a food and

exercise routine that works for *you*, that's all.

> First I'm addressing my eating behaviors instead what I eat. If I can

learn to eat at the table again instead of wherever I plop I think it

will help.

Most nutritionists and diet gurus will tell you to keep a food journal

for a few weeks so you get an honest look at what and how you're eating.

Be sure to mark down down only the foods but why you ate it, how did it

make you feel, did it do the trick or were you still " hungry " for

something afterwards. You might find the books Overcoming Overeating and

When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies to be helpful in learning why we eat

what we eat, even if we're not hungry. The authros refer to it as " mouth

hunger " as opposed to " stomach " hunger.

>I'm rearranging the breakfast nook to become my main dining area. It

overlooks the backyard and is a pleasant place to be no matter the

season.

Sounds cool!

>My good china and linens are coming out of cabinets

I can't even remember the last time we touched our good stuff. And with

no dining room in this apartment, the linens have stayed packed for our

last 3 moves. One of these days we'll move into a place where we can

have a dining room again.

>Eating alone is difficult but everything about widowhood is difficult.

When my mom died 30 years ago, my dad said the same thing. He didn't

want to eat with us - we were newlyweds and besides, I was doing

shiftwork most of the time - and my younger brother was rarely home

because of his college schedule, so he would go to a diner and eat at

the counter, just so he could eat with other people. He kept that up

until he remarried 6 months later. :)

So, welcome again to the group. Start journalling, and good luck!

I'm a 58 year old widow who has been up and down the scales since my early twenties.

Mine (weight "problem") started mid-20s when I started having children.

It's frustrating and embarrassing to admit I'm such a failure.

Definitely not a failure. Don't measure your self-worth that way hon.

First I'm addressing my eating behaviors instead what I eat. If I can learn to eat at the table again instead of wherever I plop I think it will help.

This sounds like a good plan. I try to remember that too. It's so easy to plop by the computer or on the couch or chair instead of in the kitchen. I need to get back to this too - thanks for the reminder!

My good china and linens are coming out of cabinets and drawers to make meals more special.

LOL - with having 3 boys around, I don't have anything "nice" or "good" - this will change in a few more years. I have already been promising myself. Just need to plan/save for it.

Married to Ed 30 years, one kid who just graduated with his MS degree

this past weekend, still lives at home, still jobless.

>I have type2 diabetes

I have reactive hypoglycemia, low thyroid, and a bunch of arthritis,

neuritis, tendinitis, and probably a few other -itis problems.

>Just had surgery on my knee

Happy healing! I'm still recovering from a knee injury I got in January

when I stretched the wrong way doing a tai chi warm-up. The doc said it

didn't need surgery, just a lot of rest. Then he hollers at me for not

exercising an hour each day and gaining 2 pounds in 3 months, while off

my thyroid pill at the time, too. That man can be an idiot sometimes.

>and just now getting up and moving around

Did you go through PT and get some exercises you can do while seated? If

not, there's a slew of them out there, like Chair dancing, Bliss

has a few, Sit and Be Fit on PBS, etc. We may have links to them all on

our Links page.
