Off the top of my head, these are the things that I think are the least

expensive yet important. I'm not an expert, just know what helped me.

Environment: Start with an enzyme based cleaner or Citrasolve. You can use

these on about any surface.

Many get a lot of relief from distributing a boric acid product, such as borax

or Roach Pruff. If you choose to do this, do it after the cleaning with

enzymes.

I found peroxide in cool mist vaporizers a big help ($20 at Walgreens).

I use Orange Guard in certain places for long-acting residual effects as a bug

killer. In FL, we have ants year round and kills them instantly. I've killed

those giant Palmetto (cockroaches) and wasps with it. I spray it outside the

house all along window ledges, door frames, or other vulnerable " entrances " .

It's invisible and won't blow away.

Skin: Make your own oil with mint, clove, oreganol, tea tree, neem, extra

virgin olive, and extra virgin coconut oils. Massage well into the skin.

Soak in the tub with (alternating) Dead Sea Salts (TJMaxx is the cheapest - get

the plain), epsom salts, peroxide (a good 3 bottles). Some people combine salt

and peroxide. Soak at least 30 minutes.

If this works for you, you will start pulling things out of your skin. Better

out than in. Try not to be afraid of what comes out.

If they don't work, try Rita's recommendations re: boric acid products.

Internal: A good combined colon cleanse/parasite cleanse, or go to

tummyssage.com and get Happy Tummy.

Go to Hulda 's website for methods of cleansing other organs. For example,

i/2 cup olive oil on an empty stomach will cleanse the gall bladder.

For liver: 1000 mg vit C with one milk thistle capsule

To balance PH and increase oxygen to the cells: Cell Food. A bottle is about

$30 but will last one - two months. It holds 600 drops, and you put 10-15 drops

per 8 ounce glass of water, between 2-3 times a day (I'd recommend 3). Search

the internet or get from health food store.

Willard Water (google or get at health food store)

If you can afford it, also use Opaline Dry Oxy caps. (Opaline.com)

Get a GOOD vitamin/mineral complex - from natural food sources. Ask at your

health food store.

Immune stimulators - At least one of the following: colostrum, liquid beta

glucan, AHCC, bee pollen

Cat's Claw (Saventaro)

lecithin from NON GMO food source - 1200 mg 3X a day

And last but not least - some source of Far Infrared. If you google this, you

will find places that sell blankets and other clothing. I heard that you can

buy a blanket for about $100 and you can use it every night, all night.

I bought an FIR pad from Dr. Staninger for about $400 that I sleep on every

night. Some people have bought the " rainbow " (??$$), some even the sauna!!!

You can also get FIR right from the sun. Try to be exposed to the sun an hour a

day, anyway.

I know this is a lot, but it is this multi-faceted approach that brought me from

the brink where I thought surely I would die to being virtually symptom-free -

for over a year. It took about 6 months, but it got better all the time.

I continue the internals and the FIR pad. Once or twice a week I do a soak -

just to be sure nothing is brewing.

I use NO chemicals in the environment, on me, or in me. Bugs are not a problem

and housekeeping is fairly simple. I sleep on a regular bed and change my

sheets every 3 days. I do cover my couch with a sheet that I was every 2-3

days, but I don't know if even that is necessary.

My skin still doesn't look quite " normal " - sort of mottled looking. But I am

not tormented by symptoms. All my hundreds of lesions healed about 15 months

ago and none have returned. On rare occasions I use minimum amounts of RX meds

(like when I had a bladder infection). I don't even use aspirin or Tylenol

(except about 3 doses when I had the flu recently).

I wish I could say that the above is guaranteed to work, but I can't. I do know

that there are quite a few of us who have followed the basics outlined above

(plus some other supplements and organic foods) who are 100% symptom-free.

It is possible...don't give up hope...give it a chance before altering your

method. I know there are other approaches that have worked for people.

Oh - yes - I use ionizers, an ozonator, and a UVC bulb in my HVAC system. I

think maybe ionizing is the most effective of the three. Change all filters

frequently.

Now, I think I'd better make a copy of this!!! lol

Bessie, I didn't realize you had come so far and are symptom free... that's wonderful! I'm so glad you posted this! You said you don't use any chemicals now. Did you use any chemicals initially for cleaning the environment such as Clorox, Windex, etc.? What would you suggest I replace the Clorox solution I spray in the shower and for mopping cermic floors, and for whites in the laundry (I also use a little ammonia in laundry instead of clorox, always rinse twice). (Sometimes I use Kleen-Green in the shower and along window ledges). What do you use in the car (seats & carpet - am using Windex). We've ripped out all carpet and have 3 bedrooms that are concrete right now until we can afford to replace with hardwood. Poofed DE around all baseboards. Early on tried boric acid around baseboards (mostly in the bedroom) but was discouraged by the results and didn't follow up. Hearing so much about Roach Pruff, think I'll give it a try. Do you need to isolate the vaporizers with peroxide or is it o.k. to remain in the room while they're running? I use menthol crystals in electric candle warmers in the bedrooms and it is so powerful (burns the eyes) we can't stay in the room while they're on. The pesticides we used intially are probably still here - we probably are a hazardous waste site! However, more recently we're trying to go to natural products, and always have tried to stay "natural" for skin - use tea tree, eucalyptus, and lavender oil in moisturing creams. Don't know how natural the Avon Skin-so-soft Bug Guard Plus is, but use it when they're bad. Use Selsun Blue shampoo and sulphur soaps (may be better off with some milder products?) I don't know anyting about the Far Infrared or ionizers or ozonator - will read up.

I think it's a good idea to copy this!

Thanks so much,

Judy

In the very beginning I used all kinds of chemicals, lots of insecticides, and

only got worse. I tried everything that I found on this forum (August of 2007).

The recommendations then are quite different than they are now, but I was

DESPERATE and was willing to die trying to defeat this monster. I think I got

pretty darn close to it!

I don't use bleach at all, though many do and I haven't really heard bad stuff

in response to it. I just decided after getting so sick from all the chemicals

(including a slew of RX meds) that I had to fight this by getting my body as

healthy as possible, which meant " detoxing " .

There may well be parts of what I do that aren't necessary, but I'd be afraid to

vary things too much. I constantly fear a " relapse " since none of us really

knows what is going on with all this madness!

Joe:

The best Omega-3 fish oil source I've found that tastes really good is

Coromega (www.coromega.com). They have several flavors, including some

with CoQ10. Patients just love them. They even have kids' versions, as

well as a gummy fruit multi-vitamin.

We've spent a lot of time researching various health products and post

them on our clinic web site. Go to www.SalemSpineClinic.com and click

on SERVICES then NUTRITION.

You can't find a better natural fish oil than Innate Choice Omega Sufficiency. www.innatechoice.com Others may be just as good, but not any better. You can't improve upon mother nature. Look for oil that is in a natural triglyceride form and has an EPA:DHA ratio of 1.5. If it doesn't have that ratio, then I believe it has been altered from it's natural form.Jamey Dyson, DCOn Apr 28, 2010, at 11:05 AM, joe medlin wrote:Hi docs, Anyone recommend a good company to get Fish Oil and Glucosamine from. My favorite, favorite Glucosamine product is by Thorne called AR

Encap. It's got glucosamine, MSM, boswellia, devil's claw and

tumeric. Works so well that I joke that many of my patients on it

don't need to return much for care:)

As far as potent, clean fish oil goes I like Metagenics. I find most

of their supplements to be over priced but I love their EPA/DHA bc

it's potent in less pills for a decent price. Glass bottles, clean

sources of oil. Carlson's is also good, does the job, nice liquid

taste and they can buy it at Fred Meyer (2 tsp will get you about 3000

mg EPA+DHA, not bad, and kid's will take it too!)

Nina,

Do some nutritional yeasts have gluten? I know I was reading a cookbook or list

somewhere that indicated it sometimes can. Is there a specific brand that you

use that you know is GF?

Thanks,

Hi ,

I hope you don't mind me jumping in with a question about supplements also. This

seems to be a big topic that I know little about! We do not have a DAN doctor as

my son has not yet been diagnosed but I still want to get started doing as much

as I can. I wondered how much magnesium is in the vitamin you use? The B-6,

B-12, magnesium combo was also recommended to us by actually our psychologist. I

just got a multivitamin but it has a very low % DV of magnesium. Do you use a

completely separate source for that or is it a multi?

Thanks!

the same results. I want to start by saying that I don't think that one can cure

autism with these treatments, but totally abandoning the idea of trying safe

alternative option is not something that us as loving parents should ever do. We

love our kids and would do just about anything to make their lives easier and

more fulfilling. Putting road blocks up in your mind is not the way to help our

kids navigate their lives.

Hi e,

Glad to be able to help a little.

We use the combined vitamin sold by Kirkman labs. Two tablets/day with 50 mg of

B6/ 25 of magnesium each. It makes it really easy because it is chewable!!! He

even likes the taste! You can get them online.

I want to give my son magnesium too. Any advice about that?AOn May 26, 2010, at 16:09, "justinenwilson" <justineybean@...> wrote:

Hi ,

I hope you don't mind me jumping in with a question about supplements also. This seems to be a big topic that I know little about! We do not have a DAN doctor as my son has not yet been diagnosed but I still want to get started doing as much as I can. I wondered how much magnesium is in the vitamin you use? The B-6, B-12, magnesium combo was also recommended to us by actually our psychologist. I just got a multivitamin but it has a very low % DV of magnesium. Do you use a completely separate source for that or is it a multi?

Thanks!

I want to start by saying that I don't think that one can cure autism with these treatments, but totally abandoning the idea of trying safe alternative option is not something that us as loving parents should ever do. We love our kids and would do just about anything to make their lives easier and more fulfilling. Putting road blocks up in your mind is not the way to help our kids navigate their lives.

Hi Sheff

My last results are

TSH 3.7 (0.27 - 4.2) (NO OTHER THYROID NUMBERS WERE TESTED) Too high, normal TSH is around 1.0

Cholestrol 5.0 - that could rise further unless the

thyroid hormone level is corrected. It is the slow metabolism that causes

plaque to build up in the blood vessels, thus raising your cholesterol level.

You can help lower this by taking high doses Niacin (350mcgs) and also high

dose CoEnzymeQ10 (300mgs).

I have deleted the other results

that are 'normal'

I am a Hashi's sufferer (Anti-TPO is positive), I have done the ACTH Stim test

and Coeliac screen, both were negative. Coeliac

screem can apparently give false +/- results. Antibodies thrive on

gluten, so you might want to try a gluten free diet to stop the antibodies from

increasing.

I take 150mcg of Levo at the moment but fluctuate between being pretty much ok

(maybe 40% of the time), to extremely tired and feeling my body is about to

shut down (the other 60%)

You may need some other form of thyroid hormone replacement,

either synthetic T3 (the ACTIVE thyroid hormone) adding to your levothyroxine,

or natural desiccated porcine thyroid extract, that contains T4, T3, T2, T1 plus

calcitonin. Thyroxine is a mainly INACTIVE thyroid hormone that must convert to

T3 for everything to function as they should.

I have noted from my research so far that Selenium, Iodine,

Magnesium and Vitiman C are all good.......what else would people recommend for

someone with a profile like mine?

Not sure what you mean by this last sentence Sheff. Have you had

your blood tested to check out these levels, and if so, can you post the

results here together with the reference range for each test done. It matters

WHERE in the reference range your results are, i.e. bottom, middle or the top.

Just being within the reference range doesn't mean these are necessarily good.

Also, we need to know what your levels of iron, transferrin saturation%,

ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3,folate, copper and zinc are, as well as those

mentioned above. Ask your GP to test these, and when the results are back, let

us have these with the ref. range for each test done. A doctor cannot withhold

any evidence that is in your medical notes under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Also, check out the attached document (let me know if you cannot

see an attachment) and go through these associated conditions as a process of

elimination.

Doug,Go to cosumerlabs.com, membership is relatively inexpensive. They do 3rd party research on supplements.Look at what brands have consistent positive results and go with one that has the supplements you are looking for.I have seen 2 problems with Metagenics. One problem with lead in one of their rice based powders and another problem with potency claims and probiotics.I currently use metagenics, but I'm wanting to phase them out.Hope that helps.Brad Farra, D.C., CCSPCertified Chiropractic Sports PhysicianGlow Healthcare Integrative Medicine2332 NW Irving St.Portland, OR 97210503-222-1865www.drbradfarra.comFrom: "dr.babbitt" <dr.babbitt@...> Sent: Friday, January 27, 2012 12:36:38 PMSubject: supplements

Dr. Babbitt,

Go into the archives and look at several emails on 11/9/11-11/11/11,

Under “Multivitamin recommendation” subject line.

I have a “rule” set up in my email program to send all into a folder. Then if I need to look up something like what I was thinking about on Sept. 3, there it is.

There are 15,000 emails stored there but who cares? It all fits in a box on my desk the size of a sandwich.

(I also note that 5,000 of the emails are...from me!)

Hi,I was reading an article from Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons Volume 11 Number 4 Winter 2006, and the following sentence caught my attention. I have heard about the selenium and magnesium from both my Nurse Practitioner and then this loop. But I have not hear about the omega-3 fatty acids. Can someone point me to information regarding what role they fulfill in the use of iodine? Thank you.

" Consumption of iodine in milligram doses should be coupled with a complete nutritional program that includes, in particular, adequate amounts of selenium, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids. "

Hi ,

The omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids are required by your prostaglandin cycle.

If your intakes are imbalanced, inadequate or blocked (eg- by trans fatty acids) or your body does not produce sufficient desaturase 5 and 6 you are likely to be experiencing chronic health conditions.

Eskimo on their traditional diets do quite well without desaturase 5 and 6, and no doubt a non-Eskimo will also remain healthy in spite of desaturase 5 and 6 insufficiency providing that their diets include bioidentical omega 3 and omega 6 oils.

It appears that the balance of omega 3 to omega 6 should be between 1:1 and 1:6.1. On the typical American diet the ratio is frequently higher than 1:50! The higher the ratio the worse the inflammatory condition.

A common dietary approach is to add omega 3 oils to improve the ratio, often in the forms of flaxseed and chia oils. This is the easiest approach but not as effective as balancing with an overall reduction in omega 6.
