I just saw Dr. Geier talk and truly amazed at everything he said. In fact so impressed we are taking my son to him next week. You should look into Dr. Geier and his studies I think it's right up this alley.

I don't know. High copper is associated with it too.

Is there another gene defect which causes schizophrenia which is related to methionine cycle? I have read some info from Pfeiffer's studies. I am wondering which gene defect corresponds to his undermethylated-high histamine type. These people need to supplement methionine and calcium and don't do well on folic acid according to Pfeiffer.thanksnil

What are the best types of folinic acid and choline?

An interesting link about the copper- there is actually a copper overload

What type of methionine supplements? It is amazing how much better I feel since

taking calcium citrate. And d3.

The budwig protocol stresses daily sun exposure for d3.

I take DMG Complete. It was formulated by Dr. Brownstein and some doctor friends of his. They now offer their products to the public on their new website.

https://www.purezenhealth.com/onlineStore_cat01.php

What Is It?

DMG is a derivative of the amino acid glycine and naturally occurs in the cells of all plants and animals in small amounts. It is chemically similar to the B vitamin family in structure but is not classified as a vitamin. It has been used as a nutritional supplement for over 25 years for various areas of nutritional support. It is a water soluble nutrient and has an excellent safety profile.*

Uses For DMG

Neurotransmitter Function: One of DMG’s main roles involves promoting healthy neurotransmitter function. Studies involving adult subjects have suggested that DMG may support the central nervous system glycine receptor or maintain healthy amino acid balance within the central nervous system. Positive support regarding the use of DMG in children's behavior has been collected for more than twenty years, as reported by one research institution. As early as 1965, Russian scientists discovered the potential for DMG to support healthy mental function in some children. At one research center in Korea, DMG provided encouraging support for children involved in a small trial.*

Other Potential Areas Of Support: DMG is believed to promote oxygenation of tissues and serve as a methyl donor, promoting healthy cardiovascular function. These same mechanisms may also allow DMG to support healthy liver function and detoxification processes. DMG has also been used to support physical performance and moderate fatigue associated with physical activity.*

I wonder if it'd be alright to take Kirkman's " TMG w/folinic acid " , with the

extra methyl donor and the folinic acid right in the pill.

Hi,

You mention high histamine and undermethylation - I used to get hives every

single day for 10 years of my life - usually as a response to a cold, damp, or

chilly environment. Was that a clue to my undermethylation? I do have one copy

of the A1298c mutation. Interesting. 8 years after I stopped getting hives, we

found my thyroid cancer.

Dr. Brownstein researched that as they are in the same pathway but the "experts" he talked to said that DMG was a better product to use.

Hi,

What type of doctor tests for these? My sister and cousin have schizophrenia,

and I have thyroid disease. And, I am wondering about my kids, both have very

low temps, etc.

Thanks,

I think most Dr's will. Doctors will test for it under the pretense of checking for heart issues. It is associated with high homocystine levels. We have not tested our kids but my husband has it and so do I so my kids have it. Insurance will probably not cover kids because they are not at risk of heart conditions.

If this question was for me,he suggests l-methionine for undermethylated

high histamine persons. You may wish to make a search on

high-histamine

under-methylated

pfeiffer OR walsh.

I really don't know.It may not mean that. he is mentioning about brain

histamine.I think Whole blood histamine abd absolute basophil count tests

needs to be taken in order to be able to decide on that.

hi , i was also tested for MTHFR after having 3 misscarriages and

came back positive . I was given high doses of folic acid and vitB12 ,also low

dose of aspirin during pregnancy , but after delivery my doctor did not say

anthing to continue folic acid and vitb12. Should I start taking myself?

Also if somebody want to go lab test with no insurance they can go to Any

LabTestnow, it is new lab in some states they are partners with Quest and

Labcorb but their prices are much lower than them.

OH interesting, I still have his book Mental and Elemental Nutrients.

I went to see him b/c I was sooo sick after partial thyroidectomy. He gave me vitamins which helped a little but didn't know about the thyroid thing. it was 30 years after the surgery b4 I got thyroid meds--when I got a computer and could start to figure it out. (actually Broda MD gave me Armour thyroid but I couldn't tolerate it and thought I didn't need it). I needed iodine and adrenal meds first.

Add me to this group. I have C677T but not the A1298C. Hashi thyroid. My second baby was born Down's Syndrome (died in infancy) and when I went to natural therapist MD recently because of breast cancer dx, she said as soon as I mentioned my Down's baby, she knew I was deficient in B-folate/folic acid. The blood tests she ordered confrimed I had inherited 2 copies of C677T. Very interesting connections here - my dad died of heart attack, Alzheimer runs in family at advanced age. The high dosages of vits/mins my Dr. has provided me have made a big difference in how I'm feeling.

Hi Steph,

Coming back to this topic because there's just been an interview on TV

(in Australia) about MTHFR and Folinic Acid. The main things that it

seems to say it helps with are weightloss and depression. Have you found

that it makes a difference with those? I ask because suddenly I have a

lot of people coming in to buy folinic acid and wanting to know a bit

more about it.

No it did not help with weight loss - I was not depressed as that was fixed with BHrt & Armour. It seemed to give me more energy, clarity of mind and more endurance in weight lifting.

Don't be too impressed. :) I gave up my YMCA membership last spring. It was just getting to be too much for me to spend 1 hour driving back and forth and then getting a workout in on top of it. Now I workout at home on my treadmill and use my Wii Fit Balance Board and EA Active program to get some exercise. While we have nice weather I can get outside but I am in MI and time is fleeting for that. We have been so cold and rainy this week. My workout has followed this mood and I need to get on top of it. So at the movement I am not juggling things well at all. LOL!
