For instance, if you wanted 24 oz. of water, and wanted to use 50% pumpkin puree, you'd use 12 oz. water and 12 oz. pumpkin. I'm pretty sure that last time I made it, I did 50/50, mixing the lye with the water, adding it to the oils, and then adding the pumpkin. Guest guest
Susie, I dont know how big your batch was but maybe you could reduce the amount of pumpkin you put in. Or I dont know if you can do this but can you put the pumpkin into a juicer to separate the water and the pulp? Add the water to the lye and then add the pulp in later? Do you know where im going with that? Can I ask how much water and lye you used in addition? Thanks Shaye Re: Help!!! Guest guest
yeah i was going to say that too. That pretty much any fruit or veggie product added is used as a water amount. so if you want you could use all purreed cucumbers(which i did once) or half pumpkin half water or purreed grapes. I have a question though. I am assuming that you cook things first though don't you?? like if i wanted to do a carrot soap I would cook my carrots first then purree them right in the cooking water (would also help keep nutrients even though the lye might eat it.)and add that. > > > > In a message dated 10/7/2007 11:04:09 A.M. Guest guest
Hey Susie, I agree. I'd just let it air dry longer. A dehumidified room would be better than the oven. An oven could soften the bar further. It should come out just fine with the longer wait.
