Guest guest
It really makes me mad to see what these doctors (I'm not talking all) get away with.....I give them all the credit in the world for going to school and learning and treating patients, and hopefully curing. So many times though you see $$$$$$$ instead of the care. I know patients out number doctors, but it is no excuse to pawn us off. I would much rather have the doctor tell me (He-She) is way to busy and maybe I need to see someone else. Guest guest
Hello Terri, (and everyone) It's been at least 2 or 3 months since I last responded to this support site. Been traveling for by demanding job. You asked me for info on " Procrit " a while back and I am still on it to keep my RBC count up to counter what the Peg-Intron depletes. I had my 5 month check-up yesterday and my tests showed negative for Hepc. My enzymes are still elevated though. In a way, I was almost (sort of) hoping that the tests would still show positive so that I could decide whether I still wanted to continue the treatments. I am really tired of the on again /off again nausea and just plain feeling bad. You can't imagine what a hassle it is to be constantly traveling by air and have to go through Customs etc. with all the syringes and vials. Not to mention that the Procrit needs to be refridged. I know it sounds like I am complaining but I am not. I was determined to see this through from the beginning so I will continue treatment for another 6 months and hope this bug doesn't return..My thoughts and prayers to you all and have a fun 4th! Guest guest
Hi Art, I was wondering if you were still out there. I take it the procrit is working. My counts are all way below normal. They have been for some time. I have been told so many things, who knows what is the best thing for energy, and just feeling decent. I'm glad to hear your Hep-C is negative.....Mine has also been negative for a few months, but like you the last time my liver enzymes were elevated. I give you credit flying around...the thought just makes me a little woozy. Keep in touch..... Guest guest
Hi Terri, I really am glad you are doing well after your ordeal. You mentioned that you didn't want to start BP meds yet... I have been taking Procardia for high BP long before starting the peg/combo. Is this an issue that I should ask my Dr about? Also, anyone have any feedback about low potassium levels? Monday I got 2 calls from both my regular Dr. and my HCV Dr. amd both told me to get on potassium that day and that I couldn't wait till the next day to pick up the RX. I didn't ask why the urgency. Guest guest
Hi Art, I was told that blood pressure medicine is not good on the liver.....(now adays nothing is) I mentioned this to my Dr. and she said now they have so many products on the market that she felt it was not a big issue. Who Knows. Potassium, well I know my body cramps something awful after I do my shot, and cramping can come from the lack of potassiun in your system. I do take suplements. Eat a banana a day. (I know if you are like me...I hate banana's). I hope everything else is going well. Take Care Terri Art wrote: Hi Terri, I really am glad you are doing well afteryour ordeal. Guest guest
My God, Terri. You ARE busy. That women is certainly lucky to have such wonderful neighbors as you. I'm sure she really appreciates everything you're doing for her, too. I haven't had much time to post lately, but I couldn't delete your post without commending you for your hard work in helping this unfortunate woman. My heart aches for someone that's in such a predicament. Bless her. RE: busy busy Hi Shaye, Just getting home... I passed the TB test!! I knoew I would, but the bruise had me scared the nurse wouldn't be able to get a reading. I'm needle-phobic even for a simple test like this and when the nurse saw how I bruised she was very apologetic. Thanks for the offer... right now she is set, but as we get into her kitchen we may find something that she might need. The last time we went camping we were delayed getting to the campground because I got a frantic call from her home health aid... a pipe broke under the kitchen sink and they couldn't find the shut off. Off I went up the road, got the water shut off and when my hubby got home he fixed the pipe. We talked Tammy's Mom into calling the insurance company (everything is in her Mom's name) about the water damage.. floor warped and even caused a sink hole in her hall way that she got her wheel chair stuck in one day and it actually tipper her over. Anyway... the insurance company came out and is going to be sending her a check to have the kitchen floor replaced....sub-floor... tile and floor and carpet in the hall way too. Our hubby's are doing the work so we can save her a ton of money. They are just buying the material out of the money and aren't charging her any labor. They are going to lower her kitchen counter, remove the doors under the sink so she can get up to it and we're re-doing her pantry cause she can reach the shelves in there. SO.... as we get further into things for her I may put out a call for odds and ends and whatnots. Rural Metro came out today and she's hooked up to a panic button system now. I think all us gals will sleep a bit easier at night. Time to switch laundry Terri

Guest guest
Terri What a nightmare. That home health aid should lose her license. Was she reported to anybody or isn't there anything that can be done? Giving a patient pills that are aren't hers is unbelievable. It sort of sounds like some of those homes for the elderly that you hear about where the residents are kept doped up and never get cleaned or taken care of. How disgusting. Tammy sure is lucky you're taking over. Please Read Dear List Members, Sorry I've been absent for a few days. Things have suddenly taken a wild turn around here. As you know I was the back up home health aid for Tammy. Well... as of Thursday of this past week I am now her full time daytime aid. Her full time aid left under a mutual firing and quiting. The aid had given Tammy meds that Tammy no longer had a script for... they were the aids meds, but Tammy had taken them before. The Dr's pulled her off them because she used them too quick. They were muscle relaxers. Poor Tammy could hardly sit up. After the daytime aid left we called poison control. The amount she had taken was not dangerous, but with her already weakened muscles she was a rag doll. Tammy smokes and it was such a scary sight to see her try and hold a cigarette. She actually set her diaper on fire in the evening.. she's ok though (her cigs were taken away when the evening aid went home) It's a good thing I stopped up after dinner as it took 2 of us to get her changed. Normally she can do most of it herself, but just needs someone there to steady her. You see... Tammy is an old hippy... if you tell her " Here Tam, this is cool, try it " she will!! From what we've been able to get out of Tammy the aid was smoking pot at her house on a regular basis and was bringing her all kinds of things to " try " . Tammys house was a mess. Her vision is diminished because of the MS and what she thought was a shadow in the corner of the tub wasn't. It was a moldy pair of rubber gloves. You couldn't find the top of Tammys kitchen table and there was a bunch of black gunk behind the kitchen faucets. Between 8 am and 11:30 am on Thursday Tammy had a shower (her first in 2 weeks!!! grrrr), we had coffee out on her deck, her kitchen table and counter were found... scrubbed and junk was thrown out. I pulled her table out from the wall and now her favorite place to sit is her cleaned off kitchen table with her aloe and mint plants growning in a pot in the middle. Her only place to sit before was either her wheel chair of the living room couch. It took me no time at all to clean this up. Her old aid said wouldn't let her clean anything. Well has been gone for a little over a month now and it looked worse than when he was alive. Yesterday her living room got cleaned and the nasty bathroom now shines. And between the 2 days I did 9 loads of wash for her. Had child protective ever stopped we were scared Tammy would loose her son because of the filth ... it was that bad. Not any more!! This weekend Tammy is at her mothers and her new kitchen floor is being installed. She had a water leak a few weeks ago and the insurance covered the damage. Her house is going to look so cool on Monday. She isn't going to know what to do. Well... maybe she can relax on her own now with someone giving her drugs to do it. So what am I getting at here, right? Well.... I'm going to be scarce from the list during the week day hours. I'm scheduled for 35 hours a week. I'll be checking e mail in the evenings and on the weekends only. If you need help with any problems please be patient with me. Remember Colleen is here too. If you need me, put my name in the subject line so it pops out at me right away. If it's something that's out of control.... ie spammers, out of control stuck emails from again (we are restricted membership... no one can get it without auth and have run of the list so I don't expect any problems) call me right away. 1-866-67-SOAPS voicemail box 1 or 2... either is fine. I check my voice mail the second I get in the door... E mail usually waits until I get dinner cooking and my house in order. This has to be the kindest lists on the net... I thank each and every one of you for that... your a great group. I'm not leaving. I'm still soaping and running my business too. Relax and make this list yours. Carry on just like normal please. I don't want to see this list dwindle because you think the owner has better things to do like some lists have in the past. I'm here and I'm going no mail on all my other lists so that my main focus when I turn on the computer is you, our list and my business. (course I still have to search for Play Station cheats for my son every now and then Off to spiffy up my house so my evenings can be relaxing. Yeeeek.... it's tough going back to work after 8 years!! Guest guest
Wow, Terri. That's a shocker. After all you've done for her and she treats you like that!! You certainly don't deserve it and I'm glad to hear you aren't standing for it and quit. She'll have a hard time replacing you. Maybe her son should come over and spend 10 hrs/day with her and see how that works. (hehe) I wouldn't be surprised if you get a call from one of them soon and ask you to come back. well...... Don't know what to say here really, but I quit my job working for Tammy today. Many tears were shed... I was screamed at over the phone by her son.. she got sooo mean and nasty with me. I never expected this... I knew she had been mean to her other aids, but she was always so kind to me until today. All we could figure is had I been up there today doing something for her she wouldn't have been like this. The whole thing was over something she had asked me to do many times and I was doing it.... she said she doesn't play by any rules and her rules are the ones she goes by and she can change them without notice and without filling in all involved. So I looked like the idiot... Feeling bummed... I tried to help out... but now maybe I won't be screamed at by her son again. FYI she allows him to talk and scream at her like this. I'll be back to normal activity on the list now... thats a plus. I was feeling so out of it. And maybe I can get to those web site updates done we ve needed on our site. Guest guest
Here's the kicker ... the son is there 24/7 he's only 8 years old!! He knows no limits at all... he whines... he gets. She asked me to help raise him... let her know when he's playing with the wrong kids... then tells him it's ok to play with these kids that threatened to kill him when it wasn't ok the day before (like huh?)... let her know when he goes out of the park or when he leaves my house to have him check in with her before he goes somewhere else..... help him off the clock with getting off the bus and homework and such... heck I had to show him how to take a shower..... no one ever explained to him how to suds up a wash cloth or even how to use soap... he had a nasty skin infection this summer from not showering!!! I made him one of those bath poof thingys with soap in it and some good EO's so he would keep using soap... she wanted extra eyes cause she can't see well... she knows she is a sucky parent... freely admits whenever she feels like it. .. in public... anywhere!!... even lost him at one point to foster care, but the second you give her help she freaks out!!! Like I said... changes the rules without filling in all the players. I the player not knowing of the rule change ran to the wrong feild goal today. Called me a dictator.... whatever... at least he finished all his antibiotic this time.... when I cleaned out her fridge there were 7 ...yes 7 full bottles of antibiotic because no one ever made him take it when he was sick. ... and then she would say... " I don't know why his colds keep getting worse " UGH! ummm maybe that's why he had to have tubes put in his ears and have his tonsils and adnoids taken out this spring. ok... enough ranting.... I'm to the gossip stage now and that aint cool. I am going to fill the agency in tomorrow about how she has treated me and that she needs someone to explain to her from the agency about how to treat her aids. She's going to go through the list and come to an end of aids that will come to her house one of these days. Terri
Guest guest
Terri Boy, it's a good thing you finally went to the doctor. I hope that medicine works good. You really should take it real easy this weekend - let the family do for themselves and wait on you for once. Take care Re: Many subjects Hi Jeanine, I finally broke down and went to the Dr this afternoon. I have a sinus infection and the startings of bronchitis. I had 104 fever when I got there. The fever never got below 99 since Monday. She put on some mega anti biotic. . Levaquin... once a day thing. I was the 8th or 9th person in the office today with it and I'm on bed rest for the weekend (yeah right... come on.. I m a Mom!) She also said this has been turning into pneumonia in alot of people and I came in at a good time. My head still feels like there is a plunger over my nose lol The nurse and the Dr both said " Lets see.... we haven't seen you since Oct 11th of last year with.... a sinus infection! Still have a touch of a fever tonight... haven't checked it, but I feel it. off to kick the dog off my spot on the couch lol Terri
Guest guest
Hi Kea, I can't rest too much this weekend. We've got a B-day party to go to for the boy I baby sit... Kahoonaville(sp)? It's like an arcade I think in Carrousel Mall. My hubby has never been in the Mall so I HAVE to go...... I'll go shopping and stay away from all the kids though and today my head is just pounding so the noise will drive me crazy. Lets see.... my sister is taking her yearly shopping trip to Lancaster PA and we're dog sitting for her... this always adds to the confusion in the house and I need to do some prep before her dog arrives. Hubby will help out with most of these things... move the cat pan to the top of the drier (her dog loves cat box crunchies!! BLAH!) get the backyard ready for an extra tie out and such. I'll just have to direct traffic Then tonight we're baby sitting for the boy I watch during the week (the B-day boy) his Mom never has a Saturday off and has a chance to out with a group of her friends from school.... some she hasn't seen since graduation. I couldn't say no... she works so dang hard. I'll be able to sit and relax this evening though.... the boys have never had Jiffy Pop (I can't believe I've never got it before! what kind of Mother am I? LOL) and we have the Lord of The Rings DVD for them to watch. Lets see..... Tomorrow hubby has an eye exam at 11am. I have to go because they put drops in his eyes. And then grocery shopping on the way home.... I think that's it for the weekend. I'll rest on Monday when the kids are in school and the hubby is at work. Terri .. Terri PS the other one really did me in.... brought a smile to my face after dealing with a rotten child first thing this morning (he wasn't all that rotten, but I didn't have enough coffee before he whined about not wanting to go to school because he didn't have his homework complete grrrr
