Guest guest Report post Posted March 13, 2002 nne I haven't ever made any "on purpose" but I have peeled a bunch of soap out of a glass cup & rolled it into a ball & let it dry to see if it would stay together. It worked fine. I would suggest using opaque soap, though, instead of clear. I don't know if they had clear soap in the "olden" days. And I would go for a light tan color I think. Just my opinion. I'mreally excited about this; the only thing is that she wants the soap ballsto look kind of rough, like they are vintage ... and with M & P soap, I'mtrying to figure out the best way to do that. I asked her what scents shewould like to have, and she said that she would get back to me on that. Oneinch in diameter is pretty freaking small!!! I am thinking about pouringsome M & P soap onto a clean cookie sheet, and when it dries a little, formingit into balls. Do you think that would work? That might produce a "crackedice" kind of look with clear M & P, maybe? I'll have to experiment. Anyway,she asked for a sample of a dozen and seemed interested in my bath teabags,too. I had no clue how much to charge her for a dozen of these soap balls ~I said $8 plus $3.50 for shipping. I have absolutely no clue! But thatseemed fine to her. I don't really have anything they could take now but hopefully will be building a house this year. Just my luck I'll get it built and then WHAMO... Gee, I wanted to have a little tan before we go to Florida in two weeks. I hate to go spend money at a tanning booth. You'd think that by the end of June I wouldn't need to. But if we don't get some good sun in the next two weeks, I just may do that. The shower soaps were heart shaped and they had two wedding rings intertwined hanging from a bow. I did the rings and bow in gold mica and the rest of the soap just white. I bought (5) of the molds so I could do (15) soaps at a time. I wrapped them in white tulle and tied with gold silk raffia. I even did little labels on the back of the soaps saying " Handcrafted soap made especially for Holly " Of course I put my business label on there too just in case there was anyone at the shower that had a wedding in their future to " plant " the idea in their head. I did three different scents. From what I hear everyone loved them at the shower. Well, I have to go do some bookwork and I won't get it done sitting here. Well, I should say sitting here because it's all done on the computer so I guess I WILL be sitting here. (hehe) Dear , HI!!! It's *so* good to hear from you. I've been wondering how you're doing. It will be wonderful to see you at our gathering next month. I can't wait! A.C. versus s , We have both s and A.C. here in Albany. I had always shopped at s and Hobby Lobby when I lived in Indiana, and s is a very large store. It's great ... lots of neat things. I've always enjoyed it. And they have a great 40 percent off any regularly priced item coupon in every Sunday paper (and in flyers at the store). I hadn't heard of A.C. until moving here, and I shop there quite a bit (it's closer to where we live). A.C. is a smaller store than s, but in my opinion they have a greater selection. If you need something kind of specific, A.C. is definitely likely to have it. I do shop at both stores, though, because they both have somewhat different things sometimes. They're on Pulaski St.in Syracuse and you don't have to have a minimum. Plus you could save on shipping cuz you can pick them up yourself! Their number is 474-8771 and they're great to work with. I love Splenda and have been using it in baking (I'm not supposed to have too much sugar because of my anxiety disorder ~ it makes me really nervous, shaky, and jittery!). Guest guest Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Splenda is actuall made from real sugar... they break it down into a sugar alcohol, and continue to break it down until the body doesn't recognize it as sugar anymore... and by the way it has not been tested in any way to se how safe it is yet... i hope it is safe in the end, because we have like a zillion customers who are on the atkins diet...
