Guest guest Report post Posted September 18, 2002 nne That's great about your soap and sad about your job. Can you collect unemployment or weren't you considered a full-time employee? Are you going to look around Latham or Albany for a job or just take it easy for a while? RE: I might have done it/olive oil and Everyone, The olive oil soap (castile) that I tried making today is turning out AWESOME!!! :-D I'm very happy. I actually colored it a soft red and scented it with winterberry FO from Lebermuth. It'll be a Christmas soap. It smells yummy ... can't wait to try it! Just have to be patient! In other news, I just got laid off from my job. My supervisor phoned me this morning to let me know. They are keeping me as a freelance editor, so at least that's *something* ~ but it was a total shock in many ways and completely expected in others. *sigh* ~nne in Albany
Guest guest Report post Posted September 18, 2002 I would definitely check into Unemployment Benefits. That's what it's there for. The only thing with that is you couldn't collect checks if you also sell your soaps and things. They would consider that being self-employed. RE: nne Nope, I was a full-time, salaried employee before. I have absolutely no clue what I'm going to do. Jeff is in New Jersey for a conference for work right now, and when he gets back tomorrow we're going to formulate a game plan together! Thanks for your good wishes! ~nne
Guest guest Report post Posted September 18, 2002 I might check that out, . Thanks. I don't sell my soaps officially. ~nne

Guest guest Report post Posted October 14, 2002 nne I haven't been on the computer for days so playing catch-up here. I know you're not home yet but if I don't reply to emails as I read them sometimes I forget. I just wanted to send my condolences to you in losing your grandmother. I know how that feels, believe me. I was real close to my Gram, too. I even lived with her for a year or so when I was 19 yrs old. I hope your trip goes safely and smooth. Let us know when you get back. I also want to hear about your new job. Congratulations!! I'll be away for a while ... Hey guys, I'm going to have to go " no mail " starting at the end of today through probably October 16 (not sure about that date quite yet, though). Yesterday afternoon, around 1:10 p.m., my grandma passed away at the hospital in my hometown (Columbus, IN). She was my dad's mom, and to say that we were super close is quite an understatement. I'm in such shock, and it almost just doesn't seem real to me yet. It's so very hard being so far away when things like these happen. Jeff and I are driving to Indiana early Saturday morning and arriving sometime on Sunday. Her service is on Monday. I hope that everyone has a good weekend, and if you could hold good thoughts for my family, I would greatly appreciate it. We'll wave to everyone we know along I-90 as we're heading to Indiana. :-) Best wishes, everyone. ~nne in Albany
Guest guest Report post Posted November 17, 2002 My God, I'm tired just from reading everything you've done so far. What'd you do....stay up all Saturday night? I HATE doing labels!!! That's the worse part of the job for me. What program do you use to make yours? Do you use any kind of decoration on them or just text? Thank you, Dear , I've never bought any of Kae's FOs, so I'm really not sure that I can answer your question. Good luck with that ~ vanilla musk sounds lovely!!! I totally love anything musk (especially when my husband wears it!). *grin* I bought some white musk shower gel from The Body Shop a few weekends ago, and it's AWESOME. Yeah, this lady sure didn't leave me much time ~ whatever I don't get done, I'm just going to be up front with her about it and let her know. I don't think that she'll be upset ~ I mean, she knows that she didn't call me much in advance! I'm done with the bath teabags, glycerin soaps, peppermint/tea tree soaps, bath salts, half of the lip balms, six of the lip gloss bottles (I have 20 of those to make), the Christmas potpourri is done, and I have glitter body powder and lotion bars left to make. Those will take a WHILE. But thank goodness the glitter body powder doesn't take long to assemble! I just need more baking soda. LOL! Whew, I hope that I get everything done soon!!! I'm working on lip balm labels right now ... ~nne :-)
Guest guest Report post Posted November 19, 2002 , >>My God, I'm tired just from reading everything you've done so far. What'd you do....stay up all Saturday night?<< hehe! :-) Well, no, but I was making things up until 9:30 p.m. that night. I had ordered some supplies from From Nature with Love, and they didn't arrive on time yesterday. *sigh* So I couldn't make the rest of this lady's order. I hope that she's not upset. I e-mailed her about it, and we'll see what she says. I had my supplies sent via second-day air, too, and they still didn't get here. And FNWL is in New York!!! I don't know what's up with that. Anyway, I guess that I'll have to keep more supplies on hand when this lady orders ~ she has a show in February, and I will be making a lot of Valentine's Day/spring things for that show. I'm so excited that this lady wants to order my stuff! It's just hard getting it all done, though! >>I HATE doing labels!!! That's the worse part of the job for me. What program do you use to make yours? Do you use any kind of decoration on them or just text?<< The labels are the fun part for me! hehe :-) I use Microsoft Publisher for mine (I want to convert everything to QuarkXPress, but that will take some time). We just need a new printer ~ ours is printing things out in a really crappy way. :-( Yes, I have decoration on them ~ a leaf in the middle that kind of looks scrolled, and then there are multi-colored bars behind the text. Hard to describe. I'll have to send you something in the mail so that you can see. :-) Take care, ~nne :-)
Guest guest Report post Posted November 19, 2002 Oh, so you use Micro. Publisher. I got a new computer a month ago and I have that on here but don't know how to use it. I guess now I know who I can go to for questions. (hehe) RE: nne , >>My God, I'm tired just from reading everything you've done so far. Guest guest Report post Posted January 24, 2003 Congrats to you!! It sounds like you've got the labels done correctly even though I'm no expert. If you've got the labels done or when you do get them done, why don't you take a picture and post so we can all see your great work!! Like I've said before, that is the hardest part of my job for me. I hate doing them. RE: Private Label I didn't think about this, but my hometown visitors' center (in Indiana) has contacted me about selling my bath and body creations, and the lady was really happy with my things and ordered 20 of each thing I sent her as a sample! So I guess that's private label, huh? Because she wants me to use the logo of my hometown's skyline on all my labels. I didn't think about charging her a one-time fee to create the special labels for them. That's a good idea. I have a line on those labels that says, " Handcrafted especially for the Columbus, IN Visitors Center by nne Jensen, my address, blah blah blah ... " ~nne in Albany, who is VERY glad that it's Friday!

I've always enjoyed stuff like that. The packaging part is so much fun!!! I'll definitely take some pictures when I get this " private label " order made up ... the lady has yet to send me the logo that she wants me to use, though, so it might be a while. Guest guest Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Hi nne I think you're right about the HTML problem. Yup, been busy. Some personal orders, wedding shower soaps, stripping wallpaper from the kitchen and doing all the painting and prep work to put new wallpaper on. I also spent a couple of days cleaning out my files and putting 2002 records away and getting figures together to take my income tax junk to the accountant. I HATE that every year. But we made out real good. The accountant called to day to come pick them up to sign and mail out and found out we're getting $3800 total back. Oh, by the way. I checked out your new house pictures the other day. Boy, it's coming right along. Now that the weather has gotten better I bet you'll see it REALLY come together. RE: Didn't work Dear , I think that our list owners have our e-mail list settings on " plain text " rather than " HTML " mail. That's why it didn't come through. Sounds lovely, though! How are you doing? What have you been up to lately? ~nne in Albany
Guest guest Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Dear , >>wedding shower soaps<< Sounds really fun and neat ... what do they look like? What scent did you make them? We can walk through and see where we might put our furniture. We are *so* excited beyond belief ... I still can't get over the fact that I'm going to have a CRAFT ROOM!!! I mean, I don't think that it has sunk in yet! Our builder says that our house will be done in mid-May but that estimate is tight ~ I bet that we'll be able to move in late May or early June. Just in time for our third wedding anniversary! I can't wait to plan a romantic dinner/evening in our new house! Guest guest Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Hi nne The wedding shower soaps are heart shaped full size bars with a design on top that's a bow with intertwined wedding rings hanging from it. I'm doing the bow and rings in platinum mica because their rings are platinum. They wanted the scent to be Lilac because they're having lilacs at their wedding. I love that fragrance. It smells just like you're sniffing the real thing. I'll be making at least 50 soaps for my daughter's baby shower in June. Boy, That will be a job. I already have the mold picked out. In fact I have two of them (a total of 6 cavities) I had ordered in case I needed them but I think I'll order more so I can make them faster. They're large oval bars with a stork on top. I'll have to test one out soon and see how it comes out. RE: nne Dear , >>wedding shower soaps<< Sounds really fun and neat ... what do they look like? What scent did you make them?
