My son's (16 mo. old) pediatrician also strongly recommends *all*

vaccines. I think most doctors do. However, I did tell him what my

concerns are with the vaccines, and especially the MMR, and I thought

he had good advice (for a doctor). I told him I was concerned because

1 in 166 children have autism, and they still really don't know why. I

expressed to him that I have not seen adequate proof as of yet that the

vaccines are not a factor in it. I know some folks say it's not, but

usually they have money tied to it somehow. Anyway, so he said, " If

that is what you are concerned about, then I would wait until your son

is 4 or 5 before you do the MMR because he just needs them before

school. " (okay, but most likely we're not doing it at all). His

thinking is that we would at least *know* by now if he is speaking, is

developing " normally, " etc., and would " know " if it was the vaccines if

something happened to him.

At any rate, I don't get why your child's doctor would make you leave

because you didn't stick right to the schedule (which is just

a " recommendation " anyway)?!? I guess it's better that you go to a

different doc if they're going to be that way.

Hope things work out,

but if we don't get them done by the time she is 18 months, we must

leave their practice. So we left and found another peditrician. they

don't push as much but still STRONGLY recommend them.

This doctor is in good company then!

I saw Tony Attwood (one of the top experts in Asperger's syndrome) speak

last week. He always spends an hour answering questions from the audience.

One question came from a family where the eldest son had Asperger's, and the

younger son had high functioning autism. Their question was should they

give the MMR to their 13 month old daughter!

He said there were two answers, which did we want. He then gave the

official answer which sounded like he had memorised the blurb given out by the

government. Then he went on to say that if it was his child, he wouldn't give

them the MMR until they were over three. By then the brain would have sorted

itself out. he also suggested that they find someone who is experienced in

spotting the very early signs of ASDs. Then he told us not to tell anyone that

he said that!

Cheers,

My pediatrician also " recommends " all vaccines but he also left a

practice and began his own over the issue of refusing service to those

parents who choose not to vaccinate. In AZ it is our right to choose

while in some states it can be cosidered criminal not to - now there's

the real crime. But in any case - I have found that a vast majority

of Asian doctors take a very moderate stand. But that's just been my

personal experience.

And I have seen children regress at 4 and 5. No safety there.

This happens all the time. You challenge their authority basically - how

dare you.

OVER and over people tell me this.

Good for him. Would you email me privately his name - do not put it on the

list.

All the vaccines laws have to do with school attendance, not being able to

live on the planet. And there are exemptions as you all know to the laws

in most states.

But again, the vaccine laws are related to school.

Yes, it should be your right to choose. Interesting idea about asian doctors.

I wouldn't do any of these things in a baby with a healthy diet (whatever

that is ;-) and on breastmilk, unless there are symptoms of problems.

LOL well by healthy diet I mean whole foods, no processed stuff (except the

occasional cheerio while we are shopping!). Mostly fruits and veggies, and some

meats.

Sounds like he wants to do his own private study on your kid. Lets see if

we delay shots and see a trend of late on-set autism developing....

Would *love* to find one in our area. Would any chiropractor work?

There is a naturopath over an hour away (not doing that). You had

recommended a homeopath, but he is out of state. My husband (and I

both) like going to someone (at the least, for our children) and having

a paper trail that they are healthy, normal, and cared for, etc.

The one right before school at age 4 or 5 puts some over the edge,

especially is slight or greater reaction from first one.

The female Ped. from India that we took are 1st son to just one time

Why Sheri can we not name docs on here?

Hi Dan, I know that I am not Sheri. But I remember this issue coming up a while

back. It is mainly so that doctors who are supportive to our choices, are not

victimised. There are spies on this list who could cause problems for some of

these doctors if their details are given to everyone. And unfortunately it is

this kind of thing that sometimes prevents doctors from being supportive. Could

elaborate more, but hopefully that explains it.

I try to screen for who is on this list.

But it is not good to publicly share names that don't push vax as they

could be 'gone after' by the powers that be.

Best to only share names with people you know who are not spies.

Hi M,

Welcome to the board :o)

To answer your question, three words: Quite a Lot. O.K., to get just a

wee bit more detailed, there a a lot of examples of EFT being used

with success on pre/peri menopausal women. My wife is starting to go

through this 'joyous' occasion herself and we've used EFT for her hot

flashes with good success. I suspect that if men had to go through

this, we'd most probably jump out in front of a speeding locomotive :o)

What I'd suggest is to head on over to Craig's website and

download his free starter package and give EFT a try for yourself.

Here's the link:

http://www.emofree.com/downloadeftmanual.asp

I think that you'll be surprised with just how much you can accomplish

on your own with this simple technique. You may find that, after

working with it for a time, you don't need a practioner after all.

Now, I not trying to discourage the use of a practitioner, just trying

to save you some time and expense initially. If you feel more

comfortable using one, then by all means make an appointment to see

him or her.

-Jef

P.S. I just Googled on the keywords " menopause " and " EFT " and got

37,300 hits. So the information is out there :o)

Lilli, is there a way you can contact another GI doctor? OR call and see if they can fit you in sooner. See if they have a cancellation or tell them you are having real trouble and need some help fast. Could you even have you GP set you up with a barium swallow or something? Where are you from? Maybe we can find another GI that can get you in sooner too. Have you been told you have Achalasia?

I hope you can get some help soon. If you cannot get some help soon you could be getting dehydrated or malnourished and that is not good.

Please let us know what you find out.

You can go see other doctors. They work for you are do not belong to them. I would look into going to the Cleveland Clinic since you are in Ohio. You could even call there to see if they could get you in. I am sure others will pipe in and suggest the same thing. You need to get yourself looked at properly and that way you can get the help you need.

Lilli, I agree with and you are so close to Cleveland

too. Many people in this group have driven long distances to

go there. If it is an insurance thing, they will know how to

work around that too.

Go girl and good luck.

Hi Lilli,

Welcome to the group and thank you for telling us more about yourself. I certainly hope you don't have achalasia (unless what you do have is worse than achalasia).

Contrary to old values (which still have "value"), doctors today are like "products." If you are not happy with one, you get yourself another one. What can possibly be more important than your own health? (Yes, I know. The health of your 2 1/2 year old son). If you were taking him to a pediatrician, and that doctor was not responsive to your needs when your son was sick, what would you do?

I think you know, and the same applies to yourself. Achalasia is a deceptively complex disease. Unless you have the best GI doctor (for achalasia) in your area, or within 100 miles you could be doing yourself a disservice.

I agree with everything that my good friend said a few minutes ago in response to your question, and as he said about other voices piping in, I thought I would share my feelings about this.

Good luck and please stay in touch with us. We are your support group!

Lilli,

Welcome to our community! I'm sorry about your condition, having

problems with eating is so frustrating. Like said, try to

see if you can find someone else to help you. You need a

diagnosis. Also, be VERY careful with nitro because it will drop

your bloodpressure causing nasuea/vomiting/headache. So take your

bloodpressure before and after nitro. Please tell us more about

yourself.

All the best

Dear Lilli,

Scream, cry, whimper, yell, scratch and claw until you get an appointment sooner. Call every day to see if there is a cancellation. The noisy ones gets the service. Of course there are openings.

Suggestions to ask for at your first visit. Anti depressants seem to help many of us and some of us feel it helps with the spasms even if you aren't feeling depressed, however many of us suffer from some issues with depression. You might also consider taking Motrin or some other pain meds often if spasms are a constant for you.

If you have classic, primary achalasia and no treatment the Nexium etc. probably won't do anything.

Some of us have some relief from drinking fizzy drinks, even though it may hurt slighlty it pushes the food down. As Ann mentioned, the fizzy stuff probably isn't good right after surgery, but otherwise it helps many of us. I saw it work on a barium x-ray, otherwise I wouldn't have believed it because it isn't a comfortable drink.

Keep copies of all your tests, keep a book. Read all you can on this website, it has summaries of all medical articles. Educate yourself.

Most of all insist on absolutely the best doctors, that is the key to long term success.

Good luck...

Lilli,

Welcome to the group! I can echo the opinion of many others in

the group in recommending the Cleveland Clinic. I think the main

thing for you to do at this point is to get a good diagnosis. I'm

part of the group because my husband has Diffuse Esophageal Spasm

(also an esophagus motility problem). What tests have they done for

you? The ones that help the most with diagnosis are manometry, barium

swallow, and sometimes 24 ph probe. My husband had these tests done

at a nearby hospital, but the results were inconclusive. When he had

them repeated at U of M, they showed some sort of motility problem and

ruled out acid reflux. Then, when they did them again at Cleveland

Clinic, they were able to confirm the diagnosis. Since achalasia and

motility disorders are rare, sometimes it's best to just skip the

middle-man and have the tests done by the skilled doctors and staff at

a place like Cleveland Clinic. I think the skill of the people

performing the tests makes a difference, also.

I wish you lots of luck! You need to take care of yourself so

that you can take care of others (keeping up with your son and doing

your valuable work at the schools)! By the way, I'm also into

beading. You need energy to do the things you like, including

beading, too :o)! Please keep us posted. You will gets lots of

support and information from this group!

Hello Lilli and welcome to a Group of people who will help you all they can.

First of all it seems to me it would be wise to delay starting a baby until you have this sorted out. It is a lot to cope with all at once and you need to be well nourished to have a healthy pregnancy. July is just a month away and the time will pass, although it does not feel like it now. What you need is some help to get you through the next few weeks. Can you get fluids down successfully? If so, you can be ok for a great length of time on fortified liquids. Try very hard to teach yourself relaxation, because we all to the last man on this Board believe that stress exacerbates the symptoms.

Could you tell us if you are losing a lot of weight and some details about what you can get down. Sometimes achalasians (if that is what it is) can eat the same foods in a different form, for instance made into soups or mashed up.

Love from Ann in England xx>> Hi! I am new to this group. I feel as if I have reached maximum > frustration level with the doctors. If I am given one more script for > Nexium, I may cry.
