The truck quit workinglast week, and Tom and a buddy has been trying to get it started and they are stumped as to what is up. Today we went to pick up the friend so he could help, and my Stratus was leaking water like a sifter and another place looked like oil. Tom's friend () checked and said there wasn't water in the oil. so I think we're looking at 2 eperate problems. My daughter brought my sis home yesterday and Sharon said she hit a dip in the roads hard and fast last night....I've done told her if she busted the oil pan or whatever from that she is going to pay to fix it. Maybe that will teach her a lesson in being careful in my car. So 's son had a little 94 lumina for sale for 500 dollars, and we are going to get that for now and help get around until the car and truck are fixed then it will be 's car. I gave him 100 dollars today and he's getting the rest in the next few weeks. The car's not much with a dent in the drivers side, but it runs...LOL. But we have got to have 2 cars as some nights Tom drives at work and the kids have to got to school and to work. To top it off they have scheduled my Hyst for March 19th, and I have to have 800+ dollars to pay for the deductible an the day of surgery, so now I'm regretting that purchase of the computer. I knew if I bought it things would start falling apart...Story of my life....LOL. in Bama VBG 1982 (lost from 433lbs to 270's) VBG -RNY1996 revision(Lost from 343 to 299) RNY-DS revision Dec 2002 -down 122 lbs (377.7 to 255.6 and still going) Homepage address- http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Many thanks to Dr. K willing to take on a 3rd timer....LOL

Guest guest Report post Posted May 2, 2004 Jo - I am also 38 and have had 4 dilations & just had a Heller Myotomy with Toupet Fundiplication 2 weeks ago. They did the dilations because they thought I had strictures. One of the dilations was with a weighted tube & that one helped the most, but I still had a lot of difficulty. The last dilation was with a balloon & lasted about 6 hours. No joke. There is no cure-all. From what I have found, the dilations vary in effectiveness. They can be a temporary help to many. A few are helped longer-term. Botox is also temporary & can make surgery less effective (some say dilations can, too). Typically, the injections last 6-12 months. The myotomy also varies, but results are longer range. it can be repeated in many cases. I have read that it lasts an average of 10 yrs. My surgeon said if you are under 40 & not as far along in the disease, it can last decades. He also said that about 50% of myotomy patients "backslide" to some degree after 3 yrs. He said that they will not become worse than before surgery, though. I have no regrets thus far about the myotomy. I feel semi-normal again. I just had a small lunch (my portions are reduced & I eat about 6 little meals a day) & said to my hubby, "Look, NO DRINK!" But I do usually wash with a cup of water anyway at the end. Once in awhile I have "stickage" or a spasm if I eat too much. But overall, I would put myself at 90%+ improvement. I can sleep with one pillow like a "normal person" again, too!!!!! Here are some questions I asked my laproscopic surgeon: How many myotomies have you done? What is your success rate? (average is 93%) Can I talk to someone who has had you do this procedure? (I did...and that was GREAT). What kind of diet before and after? How long am I going to be off work? How many lapro myotomies have you had turn into open myotomies (when he said ONE and told me why, I was sold!). What GI docs do you know that treat A? Hope this helps. If you want to email me personally & we can talk on the phone, I would be glad to. I was only diagnosed in January (after being mis-diagnosed for over 3 yrs) and this is all still fresh in my mind. My personal email is cindiscandles@.... Keep reading & asking questions. Best Wishes - Cindi Wilmot PS - I got depressed about this to. I have to say that the surgery really alleviated that. I am accepting the disease as part of my life & trying to find the good in it....staying thin (hopefully! hahahah!), not being terminally ill, understanding others with chronic disease, learning to accept help & support from true friends. It is a growth process. Unfortunately, growth usually comes with growing pains!!!!! Hang in there! ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here

Guest guest Report post Posted August 31, 2008 Hi Jo! I apologize for taking so long to email you back. Hell hath no fury like a freaking hurricane in the Atlantic! And you know I'm feeling every bit of it! Honey, I wish I had an answer for you. I wish there were some magic words or potion so we wouldn't have to suffer like we do but I'm afraid it's all trial and error. I've yet to try kineret myself but I've been informed by people on this site that it does leave it's " mark " and that it usually subsides after a while. If it's such a problem for you call you RD and explain it as clearly as you can. Now, in the meantime, I used to use an Aveeno " paste " on my son when he had chicken pox and when he gets bee or mesquito bites. Check and make sure your doctor is OK with it first, of course, but if he/she is then buy the powdered Aveeno and just add a little water to a little bit of the powder and put it on the welt. The only other thing I can suggest to you honey, is putting ice on the welt but I'm sure if that would help at all. One last one for you. If you live in the States have you applied for or are you getting SSI/D? Since you're not working at the moment you might be able to get disability and that's always a help financially. I have a phone call to make but I'm always checking my email. Although I've been very bad about it for the past few days and now I have 110 emails. The point being, if you want to email with me personally, you're more than welcome to. I'm sure there are a lot of people on here that would say the same. Take care and be well.
