On the batteries. The 675 batteries that is use is the same for both the

CI and Hearing aids?

I got them off the internet for a 40 batteries for 18.95 (Microbattery.com)

that is about .47 cents a battery

-- Re: Batteries

Larry,

Buying batteries in bulk from Cochlear comes out to $.50 a battery.

Dave,

Same type yes. But unless they are high power, the batteries may

not work well in the 3G if at all. I had a batch of HA batteries

given me, dont recall what brand, they worked fine. Also, old

batteries I still had from my HAs, had not used the HAs in 4 years. I

used what I had this year. No problem. LOL

Cochlear lists the prices for the different quantities on their

website in the online store.

Yep,

I just bought some batteries from WalMart.. 1.4 volt 675 batteries

that some folks are getting almost as many hours out of as they do

with the power one batteries from Cochlear.. well.. Not me....I get

about 3-4 days from the ones I get from Cochlear(50-60 hours) but

only a grand total of 20 hours from the ones I got from WalMart..

Had to get them out of necessity though as Cochlear is on back order

for their batteries.. or they were.. Hope it's not for long!

Thanks Alice,

I'll check them out too. I tried the WalMart batteries because

someone from our Michigan support club purchased them and said they

were getting about 3 days out of them.. am trying different ones

till I find the ones that suit my needs.

Actually, I could borrow batteries from my mom or sisters if I

needed to.. makes it nice when there are 4 implant users from the

same family <smiles> We don't usually run out of anything this way.

would purchase from the store when necessary.

Well I was getting low on batteries so just bought one package from

Cochlear to hold me over until I hear from the dr office about the

insurance co. Couldn't believe it that I got that package already and just

ordered them last week! Guess the long wait is for those that are

requesting large orders.

,

That's one of the reasons I chose the 3G. With people talking about

purchasing batteries from Cochlear versus the drugstore, I didn't know if

there was any difference in performance. Glad to *any* 675 battery can be

used.

There is a Walgreen's located walking distance from my home (they're on

every street corner <smile>), so I should be in good shape once I get my CI.

That doesn't even count the numerous battery packs I have here at home. LOL!

wow you got more life out of your powerone + than me. I got 67 hours on the left

implant and you may remember what happened with the right in NM when I tried the

power one + on that side. that only lasted an hour and a half. the next set of

batteries which was power one lasted 51 hours . Those two implants were around

balloons and planes and I am amazed!!! but I had the sens down to 1 or 2 some of

the time depending on the situation.. I guess we now know that the other kind of

batteries that you tried is not for CIs.

My goodness, , that is cheap. I have fifty packages of them from Nucleus,

so I won't heed to worry about batteries for a long time.

I went to Dixie Cafe with , my ssp, and it was super crowded.

However, I did wonderful. They have marvelous chicken and dumplings.

Well, I guess I will sign off for now. ttyl

The QX will work on either batteries or mains.

You can leave the batteries: if you forget then after 6 months they may leak and casue corosive damage

They do not have to staye imn..it is either or, or both.

If using mains you need safety circuit protection. In the UK we supply this to users as standard. In USA conatct yr broker.

This is abosulutely clear exact and correct

That's a really good idea to use the old 675 batteries from the CI for the

HA. Wish I could do that but my HA has very small batteries; much smaller

than the 675's. *sigh* Oh well, my HA batteries last about 3 weeks so I

don't go through them very fast. I am getting VERY excited about my

hook-up................2 more days! Got butterflies in the tummy! I had a

close call yesterday and ended up with a very sore head! I was putting some

wood into the woodstove, sat on the edge of the ottoman to do this and it

slid out from under my butt (it is on wheels) causing me to smash the back

of my head on the desk behind me! OUCH! I have a hematoma but the skin

wasn't broken. I was thinking after it was a VERY good thing it wasn't the

SIDE of my head where the implant is cuz I hit it VERY hard! Wouldn't that

have been a calamity! An expensive one! I had a headache for several

hours, but, hey, now I know I DO have a hard head! LOL Will post when I get

back from Vancouver next Fridsay and report my " switch-on " details. Wish me

luck and good hearing; we leave at 6am Tuesday morning.

Wow, . That was a close call. I’m glad you didn’t hit the incision

site. That could have caused a real problem for you and delayed your

activiation which is soooooo close now. I can imagine what your thoughts

are these days. The butterflies will go away when the audiologist says “Can

you hear me.” Remember – setting those beeps is hard at first so just

relax and enjoy the special moments when you realize that there is sound

where there once was none.

Good luck on Tuesday. We’re going to be waiting to hear your report. Drive

safely and be sure to take tissues.

The only issue with batteries is if you use rechargeables: these discharge very quickly when losing it, rather than the steady decline from alkaline batteries. I am not aware of any issue with the latter re box blow up

Kelsey PhDQXCI User Manual Author, Advanced TrainerVisit www.qxcisynergy.co.uk for tech infos

RE: PCMCIA card

Hello : I was in Los Cabos in July and Bill had said that at times when this happens it is because the batteries in the box need to be replaced. Now I have heard that people say that the box could blow if the batteries are in. But I think if that is the case QX will honour that and fix it. So I am suggesting you try and put new batteries in the box and set the power on the converter at no greater than 7.5 then see if the lights come on

Cheers

Dear friends,Me again, sorry if I sound like a broken record. I would dearly love to geta good parallel port connection and grow weary of this conundrum. So, this is my final plea for any light that might be shed on the subject, before I buy another laptop. I do get a response from the lights whenbooting up, but they are dark ever after. I have tried 2 different ACadapters at all different strengths. I wonder if there is some minoradjustment with the driver or at least compatibility with Windows XP. Itdoes state that the PCMCIA card IS compatible. I would love to discoverthat I have overlooked something obvious and silly.I did get a couple of responses - much appreciated. It is wonderful to havethis resource. I especially applaud contributors who stay on topic andremember their manners.Namaste............................................

Beth,

Time to move. At least in Alaska they got the bush pilots. LOL

Lets see, how long have I had the 3G? 4 years, and have had only two

(2) batteries that were moldy. I have never had batteries go bad after

installation, have always gotten the average 4 days use. Matter of fact, a

few months ago I found some battery packs I had when using my hearing aids.

Keep in mind, its been 5 years now since I last wore those. So they were

quite old. I still got about 4 days from them.

Lost the cell phone? Call it. LOL

Hi, All,

For the first time EVER in over 35 years, I forgot to bring extra batteries

with me over this past weekend for both my CI and my hearing aid. (That'll

teach me to keep changing pocketbooks!) We were in the middle of dinner with my

brother and his latest girlfriend, our first time meeting her, when my CI

batteries died. I was miserable with just my hearing aid! Ironically, the

girl's niece has a CI so she totally understood! After dinner we drove to the

nearest drug store and I picked up some Ray-o-Vacs. I got 3 packages of 8 to

last

me from Saturday night until Monday night when we would be home. I was

thinking the batteries would last a few hours at best with my map of ACE 1800.

Well - 3 batteries lasted until we got home and then some, despite noisy

conditions in Atlantic City Casinos! Wow, was I surprised! I must admit that

the

voice distinction was not as good as with my cohclear implant plus batteries,

but it sure bailed me out in a pinch.

Thanks ,

From all that I've heard, I think the disposable batteries are the

way to go. I am also leaning towards the Cochlear Freedom CI. I

still don't know all about them, but I've seen very few people that

were anything but thrilled with their Freedom. Some of the other

brands have left *some* people less than totally satisfied for

various reasons.

I'm afraid that many audiologists will tell you this. We the users

have been the ones to train them. The batteries for a CI are

essential to keep the prosthetic working thus they are a covered item

under most policies but you may have to go thru rings to get this

approved by your insurance carrier. It really helps to have a case

manager as they will go to bat for you in a situation like this. If

you don't have one now, it might be a good idea to try to get one -

due to special needs - and let the case manager get this approval for

you. When you get the approval - let the CI Center know so that they

can share this information with others.

Yes, I use Zeni Power. They are great with no loss in sound quality.

Mine last 3 days, sometimes longer. Power One Plus lasted me about the same

length of time but were so much more expensive.

The price you pay will vary, depending on which place you buy the Zeni's

on-line, so shop around.

How much for a box of 60? I'm buying the PowerOnes for $60 per box, ie $1

each.

Three cells last me two days so hearing costs me $1.50 a day. Cheap.
