Guest guest
In addition to what and others have said.. if you are consistantly in the red zone - you need to use the Toshiba batteries. I used them for a while until we were able to lower the requirements on my 3G. I am now able to use the Power One made by Varta. Also, if you cannot get insurance to cover them, yes.. they can be used as a deduction from your taxes if you pay out enough in medical costs to be able to take the deduction. Guest guest
Hi, All, For years I used one of those dry-aid jars for my hearing aid. My audi told me to take the batteries out. Then one day he said - oh - it's fine to leave the batteries in! Well, I got better battery life after that! I leave the batteries in the CI in the dry and store as well. I DO take the plastic cover off so the processor dries in every nook and corner. Hope this helps. ) Jackie

Guest guest
OH, I m so sorry you were having problem with the Batteries. I don't use that kind of batteries. I just use 375HP batteries for my MED-el. I hope someone will be able to solve the problem for you. Anyway, You wrote a story that was so hilarious..I couldn't stop laughing. That' s SO FUNNY LOL (hahahaha) Oh I have to tell you a funny story about today. I was in English today. We relocated to new room because it have a smart board which the teacher need to use. I was sitting in the front of classroom near the smart board and all metals. I turned my head to see who is talking. I laid my BWP on the table. Anyway, the next thing I know that the coil flew off and attached itself to the metal sheet. It flew by my teacher and scared her to death. She shrieked so loud accord to my classmates. She went over to inspect the " object " that attacked her and she noticed that it is my implant. She said that my ear is stuck on the wall and asked me to remove it and make sure that I screw it in my head more tighter. All of my friends laughed out loud about the screw part. Guest guest
Jarom not all batteries are the same. why not try the Power One Batteries ? I believe there are others, I had read that Toshibas did not work well with the 3G's worth trying other batteries to see which would work better for you. Denis B. Guest guest
Hi Dora, I would really appreciate your opinion on the different types of batteries. We were not happy with the Toshibas but Christian is doing well with the Power one batteries (they last three days). I'd love to know what you think of the Power One Plus type. Guest guest
HI Sabine, My German friend visited her home and family last June and she brought me back a package of Sieman Batteries which I used in my N22 Esprit22 and was surprised how well they worked and how long they lasted. Wonder if they would work well with the newer N24 3G. Just thought I would mention this to you, B. Re: batteries Hi Dora, I would really appreciate your opinion on the different types of batteries. Guest guest
Hi Any 675 High Powered Zinc Air battery will work with the Nucleus device but the Power One batteries seem to work the best for many. You can of course purchase 675 High Powered Zinc batteries at any Walmart or Radio Shack. If you want to order the Power One batteries, you will need to order them directly from Cochlear at http://www.cochlearamericas.com/storefront/ Let me know if you need more assistance with this. Alice Could someone tell me where I can get nucleus batteries? Does radio shack or Walmart carry them and do they need to say high power following the 675? Thanks, Jean
Guest guest
The best thing to do is to order them from Cochlear through the website. They don't necessarily have to say HP because it depends on the power demands of your map. The Power One Implant batteries are best for maps that are not in the red zone. They hold a lot of charge and release that charge just right for maps that do not need a lot of power. The Power One Implant Plus are best for maps that are in the red zone. The red zone means you have a high drain map so the batteries let their power out more quickly to meet the demands of the map. While I can use other batteries like Duracell, I feel most confident with the Power One batteries because I know they were designed for my implant. Guest guest
-- you might have a high power map which tends to drain the batteries faster than a regular power map. You could ask your audie what color your map is in. If it is in the high yellow/ red zone you might want to try the Power One Plus batteries. They are formulated for the high power draining maps. Hope that this advice helps you!! Have a wonderful Easter weekend -- Snoopy bilateral RI

Guest guest
Looks like the AB BTE is much different from the Cochlear Corp one in my case I have a volume control on it and when I put it on I frequently misadjust the control (it is too easily turned) and it is either too loud or not loud enough AB needs more human engineering on their equipment. The batteries are hard for me to put in the charger and they only last about 4 hours but am going to see my audie soon and I understand from some of the postings that this can be improved and also they have more powerful batteries available now. Guest guest
Lee, I go to a center that has been around for a long time. No one every brought up the question of insurance coverage for batteries until I mentioned it. They first told me that they are not covered by insurance but after working with them and Cochlear, we found out that they are. It all depends on how the insurance likes to be paid. Right now, we are getting my insurance company (which is an HMO) to add Cochlear to their list of vendors so that I can just order from Cochlear and pay 20% of the cost while the insurance pays the other 80%. If you need some help with this, just contact info@... and they will respond immediately with what you need to get the process going. I imagine you have plenty of batteries left but it's not a bad idea to get a head start. BTW.. I just have to say how excited I am for you every time I read your messages about your new hearing. It's amazing to read the great results you are having after being without sound all your life. What a miracle! Keep those wonderful reports coming. Guest guest
, Some people get three days and some get more. We usually measure it in hours and I get 50 - 60 depending on the demands. Lots of noise takes more power. It also depends on your mapping and the thickness of your skin flap. You need to remember though, the CI is high powered hearing and much different than the hearing aids. Just wait. You'll understand this very soon. Guest guest
This is interesting because I can barely tell when my batteries are low. They just beep and die. Maybe with the 3G you will become accustomed to this? I hope it all works out. When I put in the new batteries, and I was at the normal setting, the voices suddenly became " too loud " for me and I had to take the time to get used to this. I really don't like this. Guest guest
I cannot tell the batteries are getting weak and that is fine with me. I had that with hearing aids and its a pain. As to sounds being too loud when I put in fresh batteries, that could be due to having a brief period of silence then sound again.
