Our unit is giving flu shots this weekend and there was a big sign that said

you had to wait 3 weeks after receiving an anthrax shot before getting the

flu shot... I don't know what that is being based on...

Hi Anjin, I think it depends on what state you're in. I'm in NYC and

suprisingly, they don't bother me about that. However, I do have to produce

some identification for the child.

Hello,

I have been on WIC for three years and there has been no problem with the

issue of not vaccinating. They will ask and all but all you have to do is

say No I don't immunize my children for...........(whatever reason you would

like to give them). And they generally give you a curious look and move on.

But they cannot deny you WIC because of it.

Hope this helps!

>>

No question is silly. Really, use common sense. You shouldn't pass a

just-been-chewed toy to your son anyway. That child could be coming down

with something, and depending on the age of your son you may care what it is.

As CP and measles both start with the sniffles, there's no way to tell these

days whether a child truly has just a cold, or it is something else (I think

polio starts with these symptoms as well, but I'm not sure). I just learned

this from my doctor: many children get polio, but it isn't reported because

it looks like the flu. They contract it either from the shot, or a recently

vaccinated person. This was what the CDC wants -- passive immunity.

Meaning, you don't get the shot, but through exposure gain immunity any way.

and of course, most parents aren't reporting it because they don't know what

" it " is.

Anyway, because most parents don't keep their kids home the first 48 hours of

a cold to make sure it is just a cold, you don't know what that kid sitting

next to yours has. I know a mom who I just met who thought the rash her son

had about 2 weeks after his MMR was a heat rash from the fever he'd just

had... That's what the doctor told her. I said HAH. He had the measles.

He broke out mildly, but classically. She was mad. And, to boot, because

she didn't know he had the measles he made all his play dates, etc. while he

was contagious (this is how my kids got the measles). So, who knows how many

kids had the measles in our area this past fall...

Just use your common sense. If it makes you twinge, even a little, avoid it.

And be cautious (not anal or neurotic) about your son's contacts.

Thanks for the info. I figured I really shouldnt worry to much. I just remember

some years ago when we only had our first born one of my girlfriends didn't

vaccinate her kids and asked me not to come around her when my daughter recieved

her vaccinces.

So I had that sort of going threw my head. Anyhow thanks for the info and for

not thinking I am to silly.

I had this a few years ago. I started eating fruit for breakfast at that time, and I never had any sign of it again. I suggest you may need more fibre in your diet.

in NZ.

Question

Hello, I have a question for everyone. I have been doing the type O diet for 5 days. I have a history of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Before starting the diet I had my bowel in good control no symptoms. After 5 days on the diet I am having problems with the IBS. Has anyone else encountered this? What did you do for it and do you have any recommendations. I find my stomach feeling really acidy now too.

Thanks so much.

Robin are you sure you are type O? sound like you have a Type A stomach

My mother always says she is type O, so she did a blood type from the kit and

still didn't read the kit right. She and my wife though that it

read a type O reading, when I look at it I can see a faint Type A reading which

means that she carried a type O gene; but A is prodominate over O. Thus this

made her AO- Regardless of the O gene she

will always be Type A. You might want to donate blood to get an accurate

reading. It best to know your blood type, not just guessing it

that can be dangerous. Ramon

Robin,

Dr. D'Adamo recommends fish oils for colitis and irritable bowel syndrome. I

had colitis 27 yrs. ago. I have been on the blood type diet since April

1999. I started to have problems with my intestines about a month ago. I

was having diarrhea, body aches, itching, etc. I took large doses of cod

liver oil for about two weeks, and now take a few capsules a day as

maintenance.

I can't tell you offhand why your IBS is kicking up again, except that when

you go on the blood type diet, all of your cells are changing, and your body

is throwing off toxins. The only reason I could explain my problem was a

sudden increase in the level of stress I was handling. I would try to fish

oils for a while and see how they work. I also took olive leaf daily while

this was going on. It boosts your immune system.

Robin,

Dr. D'Adamo sells a blood type test kit through www.4yourtype.com (North

American Pharmacal). I had my blood type tested by my physician before

buying the ER4YT book. I had assumed that I was a Type A because I felt

better when I cut back on my meat consumption about 25 yrs. ago. Much to my

surprise, I was Type O, which has a much different set of parameters than

Type A. I would not recommend implementing the blood type diet until you are

sure of your blood type.

Hi Ramon, I'm sure I'm an O. I have donated blood in the past and have

typed and cross-matched for blood after hemorrhaging after childbirth. They

told me then I was an O. But I guess I can get the test kit and do it

again.

Michele,

When my kids were born, I lived in a nice area that wasn't overpopulated. I

found a pediatrician and explained why I would NOT vaccinate, he at first

tried to convince me otherwise, but I explained to him I researched the

issue, I lost a child from a reaction to a DTP vaccine, I knew I had rights,

I knew what the state exemptions were, and I was the one who had to live with

the grief of loosing one child and NO ONE could tell me otherwise. After

that, he shut his mouth, took me seriously, and never said anything about

vaccines again.

Unfortunately we just moved back to the big city and I will have to find

someone I am more comfortable with. However, I doubt I will take my kids to

another pediatrician, I will look at family physicians (since they are more

tolerable in areas like this) and I will also call a chiropractor to ask for

some names (reason being chiros usually don't believe in vaccinating anyone

for anything).

Hope this helps.

M from Michigan

P.S. Sorry to everyone on the list for not being involved in awhile. Finally

unpacked and settled in so will try to keep up with the posts again.

I took the chicken way out and just said that I was calling for my " sister "

who didn't want to vaccinate and asked whether the physician would respect

that decision and not push or whether it would be best to look elsewhere. I

was surprised in the honesty of their answers. I got everything from: it's

A pediatrician is not always & not very often necessary (from myself, a

former pediatric nurse). I would choose a homeopath or naturopath as my

primary care physician. Also it depends on what state you are in.

OH MY!!! I can't believe you were actually hung up on!

My doctor has been " persuading " me to vaccinate. I told him I wanted to do more

research before I decided, so he agreed not to bring up the issue again until

the baby is a year old. He will be a year in October, but he goes for his next

check-up in July, and I know the doctor will at least say SOMETHING. My problem

is that I am not very assertive. I know I need to be, because these are my

chidren, but I struggle with it.

NEVER make any decision while you are in the doctors office - practice

saying that!

Go home and then you would have to make an appointment to go back.

Remember you don't have to convince the doctor or know enough to discuss

it. You just say " I'm not prepared to agree to that today " .

To find our pediatrician we got recommendations from like-minded people. We

asked my mid-wife, chiropractor, another non-vaxing family. Also, look for

homeopathic Dr's, they tend to understand more, although if they are an M.D.

too then they will be more *mainstream*.

Our pediatrician has published many articles re: the dangers of vax's to the

immune system and he doesn't think well baby checks are necessary either (I

agree!!). So they are out there!!
