Wahoo!!! for Alyssa and I'm sure mom and dad and the rest of the family are very proud....as are we at JRA list!!!! :):):):)Tree:):):):):) (unknown) Hello All, Thought that I would share some very great news we got today. Our 16 (almost 17) year old daughter,Alyssa, has been chosen as the Washington Arthritis Foundation "Most Inspirational 2002". We are a little overwhelmed and so very proud of her. It has been a really tough year in so many ways for her. It is really great that the one place that she feels like she belongs, sees how amazing she is too! Amy and Mike (Alyssa 16 (only for another 3 days) Poly)

Phudd,

You may wish to consider buying a couple vials of Depo Testosterone...for

some reason, each year there's a few months when it's almost impossible to

obtain.

I'm on AndroGel now and I respond well, but I will be going back to

injecting and I'm buying several vials. My insurance will not cover this,

and understandably, when I'm also getting AndroGel.

Hope that you are having your hormone levels monitored regularly and

requesting copies of your lab reports for your own records....

Good luck,

OR eon

(unknown)

Just joined this group yesterday. I've got to say, it's reassuring to

know I'm not the only one going through this. I've been dealing with

low testosterone for about 8 years, patches, pills, clinics for

impotence, and finally injections, which were the answer to my

prayers. Then all of a sudden, I couldn't get the injectable

testosterone, so I tried the gel, which was about as effective as

grape jelly, now back to the injectable.

My doc suggested I look for something like this to help with the

depression and feelings of helplessness hypogonadism causes. I've

been reading the posts for about 2 hours now. I feel better already.

Hi Oreon,

Curious, if Androgel is working for you, why are you going back to

injecting?

ArmyGuy,

I turn 65 in May and no longer qualify for Texas Risk Pool Insurance..so I

will have no prescription drug coverage.

I've been on injections before...I have to strategize about frequency of

injecting...I'm think like 0.3 cc every six days.

Previously I was injecting 0.5 cc/wk

Blood collected 8th day after last injection of 100 mg Depo-Testosterone

on...

June 4th '01

.. . .Testosterone

.. . . . . .Total . . . . . . . . 989 (241 - 827)

.. . . . . Free. . . . . . . . .42.0 (6.6 - 18.1)

July 9th '01

.. . . . ..Total . . . . . . . . .774

.. . . . . Free. . . . . . . . . 38.8

I'll probably have to play around with it.

Debbi I think people are just frustrated that there is nobody to turn to when

it comes to getting our children the help they need. I personally dont care

who the president is as I am politacally neutral. I think people just expect

Bush or whoever to make it right. When thats not happening then words start

to fly and so on. Thats the way it always has been and always will be, not

that any of that makes things any better though. LOL

I havent heard from you in a few days, all ok? Abby has the flu really bad,

already had one ER trip. She has kept some Vernors down for almost 20 minutes

now. Thats a start. Talk to you later.

104 temp, yuk. What does she have? Abby has been sick for close to a week.

Last night was bad. Hopefully she will have a better one tonight. This flu

seems to get worse each year.

As far as that lady you know, that just makes me mad. If I had lots of money

I would be using it for my daughter, not an inground. All well. Hope Allie

feels better. Talk to you later

I agree the entire issue with our kids is a frustrating one. It seems

sometimes that those who desperately need services qualify for

nothing while I know personally of a person who has money out the

wazzoo, yet abuses the system. She drives a new Cadillac every couple

of years, bought her son a brand-new Lexus, just installed an in-

ground pool. Her daughter has a significant disability that will

prevent her from ever living an independent life. Yet this person

keeps all her assets in other people's names so that she can get

government assistance for everything. Almost as if she believes the

government owes her. This is the flaw in the system as I see it,

anyway.

I'm okay, I just started back in college & Allie's been running a 104

degree temp. Plus she's got a tiny little scratch in the skin between

her nostrils. Thanks to her picking it's becoming a rather large

place. Lol, you can't put a bandaid on that or cover it up, she'd

suffocate!

Debi,

everyone should be entitled to express their point of view, and since

Autism does meet the criteria of being disabled, and the ongoing cuts in

Medicaid are currently having a major impact on those who receive this

assistance, I believe the post you are responding to is VERY related to

this group.

Please, lets not begin censorship here. Thank you.

I too have seen many flaws in the system. I seen people and

relatives abuse the system the same way as described below. For example

this one man makes $100,000 a year but had to get a triple bypass so he put

everything in his daughters name so he can collect $762 a month plus have

the government pay his medical. Another example is my cousin who caused

her babies condition with cocaine use her husband works under the table for

relatives they have a new house a new car and still collects SSI, family

support among other things. Yet on the other hand I see many people who

need it desperately cant get the time of day. This is wrong and I wouldnt

know where to start to correct this. One of my suggestions is services

based on disability and not on income for example you have a kid that needs

speech therapy ect ect instead of receiving a monthly check you only get the

speech therapy. Medicaid is a touchy subject for me because its failed me

and a couple of my friends. I remember argueing about it and upsetting

people. I do however agree that there are needy on it and it was meant

for the needy. I do not know why people have to abuse a system for the

poor or disabled but they do. If I did that I couldnt live with myself.

I know here in Colorado I tried to get a model 2000 medicaid waiver but with

this government here ugh I am better off hitting my head against a brick

wall! LOL

I for one have had major problems with republicans and it is hard for

me to discuss things and be neutral. LOL The state of Colorado is

republican. Its a way of life. Its hard not to get political. You know

I am so upset with things I have had thoughts of blowing the schools up in

this area. Reason if my child cant go to school then no one elses can. I

didnt do it as who would raise my children the way I would. Yet my anger

is there. I try to hide it for the kids sake but ugh. Have you ever

wondered why certain states have better services then others? Yes I know

everyone things differently but there are major gaps. Charlene

be very extreme to make such a statement across the board about any

With balance issues, you'll usually find low levels of alpha in the back

(parietal) areas. A few people have reported having success with alpha up at P3

or alpha coherence at P3/A1/g/A2/P4, often followed by the F3 beta. One of the

things to look for with adults is whether you'll get more results with 19-22 Hz

beta instead of 15-18--or vice-versa. I wouldn't expect much from C3.

Balance clients usually have a kind of " driven " quality; very productive but

often at a great personal price. The feeling of relaxing and letting go a

little (which may make them feel a little anxious or spacey) is a common result.

Since sleep interruptions and angry outbursts can also be symptomatic, you may

hear of improvements in these areas as well.

Any bipolar montage, like C3/C4 does leave you a bit in the dark as to what

changed to cause the increased difference between the sites, and I agree with

you that it seems very likely that training up the difference when there is an

imbalance would be more likely to make it worse rather than improving it. I

wouldn't be using SMR training with Balance clients anyway. Alpha and Beta are

sort of mutually exclusive, so training up alpha in the back can help to reduce

beta levels, and then training it up left front can get that area to step into

its more appropriate role.

As for your 12-year old: I'm not sure you meant that you did C3/A1 SMR. That

generally would not be a good approach. If you meant C4/A2, then it's not

surprising that he yawned and got sleepy. That's a pretty common reaction to

SMR training. But if you are getting good results from C3, stay with it, or try

Cz/A1 beta. As for the question about dominance, I don't know.

Pete

(unknown)

I am having trouble finding a protocal that works for several of my

clients with very similar assessments. In general, these would be the

balance, right activation over left, rear activation over front, low

alpha and high theta. I often try c3(A1) or f3(a1) but get no

feedback from the client. What kind of response would I hear from my

clients if this were working. Another question is that if using c3c4

subtracts one site from the other and if increasing SMR using bipolar

placements means the difference is increasing between the two sites,

then if an imbalance exists already with not enough lobeta on the

right side, wouldn't that placement make it worse? I guess with this

type of client, I am really getting frustrated. The older clients

have a history of anxiety and are usually depressed. The younger

clients have difficulty with attention and following through.

Another quick question would be the 12 year old I am working with who

stroked at birth. In doing C3(A1)beta, he has been able to move his

fingers for the first time in his life in his right hand. The

question would be of dominance. Would a normal right hander, if

unable to use his right side all of his life, develop cross

dominance? When I did c3A1GA2Smr, he started yawning often, so I

went back to just the c3A1.

I was raised in political atmosphere in my state. My family was and

still are big democrats. I personally changed to " the other guys " a

few years ago, much to my family's dismay. From what I have seen it's

really not a Republican or Democrat issue, but more of a beaurocratic

issue. From my experiences, it's all about back-scratching. Most

politicians function merely as a vessel for all their buddies to get

what ever they want. Occasionally a politician is moved to the point

of a sincere act on behalf of a problem, like Dan Burton. I don't

personally know him, so please forgive me if I mispeak, but how

involved was he in the autism issue before his own grandchildren were

effected? I'm no different, might I add, I took very little interest

in the issues of disabilities.

If you look at issues in general, the politicians seem to pick a side

not because it's the right thing to do, but because it's opposite of

the ground the other party has taken. Al Gore was a pro-lifer until

the Republicans became big pro-lifers. Leiberman was big on school

vouchers & personalization of social security benefits until Bush

came along and supported them. Then he changed positions when he ran

with Gore. Supposedly Bush was anti-big government until he became

pres. Now he's increasing certain federal spending. I'm not saying

any of this is necessarily right or wrong, but if they believe it,

stand by it!! If the parties would just stop picking a side to try

to one-up the others, we could get much more accomplished.

That's my point about saying Repubs want to shove all the medicaid's

in the cold, or whatever the statement was. It's spin and false. I

would suggest that sometimes a system, perhaps in Colo, is so bad,

not because of party affiliation, but because they just don't give a

crap about special ed. I can tell you I know plenty of dems who don't

give a crap either. That's not a party issue, is a personal lack of

compassion issue. We have dems here who care more about keeping our

roadways than they do about the education of our kids.

I bet the states that have better services have personal connections

to people in special ed arena.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Lol, I think I'll run for office.

Debi,

you are so right about both sides of the aisle, back-scratching and

hidden agendas.

If the day ever comes that the majority of parents, grandparents, etc.

of autistic children, can speak in one voice and let those who want our

votes know that if they do not support the bills that our children need,

they will NOT get our vote, we could sure move mountains and part a sea

or two!

Ps. I am the odd one in my family, they are Republicans and I thought I

was a Dem, but now I'm leaning towards Independent!

Oh,yes! Elevensies and second breakfasts! We just finished the Hobbit, the kids

watched all of the cartoons and yes, they watched the first movie on DVD after

they watched the making. (I think that helps them understand the concept of

orcs a bit better!) People have always sat in wonderment of my kids eating

habits! The only meal they know by name is breakfast. My brother in law visited

last year and I heard him tell my sister in law that my kids made him

sick....his boy is chubby (but adorable) and eats hardly anything. My kids eat

a ton and are rails!

About the nap, yes I got one. Way too long, but my husband called to ask me if

my napping was interfering with my meals. I'll only get in five today, but the

nap was well worth it!!!

those are signs of stress.

HI , I would suggest you begin the anti-anxiety right away.

I used to clench my jaws and take little sighs all during the day.

those are signs of stress.

Your fellow hepper,

Donna

Suzy...

Anxiety is pretty natural in tx and I believe it is also part of the virust too.

There are homeopathic anti-anxiety or calming blends and homepathy is pretty

safe and some things work amazingly. I go the Merz Apothecary in Chicago where

there are several homepaths who own the place...they have a web site you might

want to check into. This is the link to the homeopathic section of their site:

http://www.smallflower.com/category.html?web_area=2 & category_id=2666

I think, but am not sure that zanax is used pretty regularly with folks with hep

c if you go the prescription route. But Claundine or someone will know better

than me.

My choice would be acupuncture...but I believe in acupuncture for most

everything so am pretty darn biased. <g>

Tatezi

(unknown)

I have been experiencing a lot of anxiety and tightness in all muscle groups

and clenching of my jaws, does anyone else have thiese kind of problems? do

not really want to take any antianxiety drugs but if it ddoesn't clear up

may have to. any suggestions?

Thanks

Suzy
