I refused to take anything more than asprin. When I decided to try treatment the doc put me on anti depressants 2 months before treatment. 2 months because thats how long it takes to get used to them. Well we all know that the treatment didnt work for me but the anti depression meds did to my surprise. I dont feel them at all. All they do for me is replace the seritan and dophamin that my body stopped making. On a personal note, my heart goes out to you Patti. Guest guest
dear Pam I too have porphyria or so they said way b4 they diagnosed the hepc, It is more depressing than anything, it takes a strong person to overcome this dis-ease. If you ever need to talk about it, compare notes you can e-mail me directly ay stayhungryforlife@... I too am a single mom, now grandmom to 6, I live in fear of infecting them by acccident because of the porp sores. I did the tx-unsuccessfully though, but there is always hope. Heck people have been known to live with the virus for a normal lifespan with good nutrition, easier said than done. Maybe this: I have cut out 90 per cent of foods and meds that are bad for the liver I just try to keep the 10 per cent I still do to a minimum and that includes the anti depressent. Just remember if you go on them, that it will take 60 days to get used to them. I started out on Effexor while on treatment but moved to another generic brand after that suited my mood better. The way our bodies metabolizes these supplements or herbs renders most of them useless or turnes them into something else. They don't tell you that on there web sites though. The problem is it's " Rabbit Eye " blueberys where there in Southeast USA but nobody sells a rabbit eye extracts. Believe me I checked it out. The research doesn't say how they took it either. Guest guest
Angelo you are right. I made my own collidial silver for almost a year, took it religiously. I have been eating blueberries for years but only cause I like them but some charlaton will make a bloody fortune on those of us who don't research enough. I've taken milk thistle 2 times daily for almost 30 years. Now I'm on a tea of herbs 3 times a day. I ran the ingrediants by my doctor and she said they are all powerful antioxidents and certaintly can't hurt me but as far as a cure............ no.  I believe God put the cures for all ailments here on earth and it's up to us to discover them but we are so busy destroying the planet and thousands of species daily through deforestation and dumping refuse into our ocean, we may have killed the natural cure already. We as humans were instructed by God to look over all creatures and look what we've done to the earth.  From: Angelo <tommybad238> Subject: (unknown) Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com Date: Saturday, September 5, 2009, 10:08 PM  There have been quite a few things that have happened these past few years to shake up the clinical studies. Guest guest
Dear Pam, My dr said the treatment can make it worse and can sometimes cause them to want to stop treatment if this happens. The sun makes it worse, the heat will make it itch, and dear God if you sweat thats when it all starts. Diet is the only thing you can do to help decrease the enzyme levels to help it. Mine did not get worse during tx i think because I was too sick too pick at it or even notice new lesions, so they seem to go away if you can not bother them LOL, Clean the area with a stidex wipe and then Glob yourself with vaseline, i dont know why but it helpsto clear it up and stops the itch. They say this is one in a few million people, I left the Dr saying of great now i find im related to wherewolves. The mind games can be either, they say Henry the 8th went insane because of it. I think because you start to believe there is some parasite on you but the good old docs dont find anything, so your mind plays games with you, there is also the embarrassment factor. Guest guest
Another option for the follow up to be neg may be that his initial test showed positive and with further PCR testing showed he was neg, because I also have Rhumatoid arthritis and that can cause a false positve result for Hepc, I wasn't that lucky though further testing only verified the pos results. But Great for him if this is so. From: Gloria <gadamscan@...> Sent: Monday, September 7, 2009 12:29:49 AMSubject: Re: [ ] (unknown) I believe that it was on this site, that a fella came in to remark that initially he tested as positive for HepC; but, then when he went for further tests, he did not actually have the virus at that point. It was remarked by someone that he must be a miracle. Well, no - the first test showed the antibodies that were present to fight the virus that his body had already been able to ward off.All that I know, is that when one reaches SVR, it means that the virus can not be read in the body at that point. However, I'm not sure that they can yet assure us that, that means on a cellular level. We all will always have the antibodies in our system. They are just pretty damn sure that if they still can't read the virus 6 mos after treatment, that studies have shown we have a pretty huge hope that it will not come back. However, it is called remission not a cure.Gloria I feel like I am going thru deja vu. I made the comment months ago that even though a person reaches SVR, the virus is still present in ones body, however slight. Many never become active again, [thank God], but some do, and have to repeat TX down the road. I always thought of a 'cure' as a total eradication, meaning 'no traces what-so-ever even on a cellular level'. Guest guest
Molly, Viral infections don't respond to anti-biotics so I think your doctor was right.? How old is Ben?? When my son was little he got some really terrible stomach bugs.? One of my pediatricians gave me his mother's remedy for diarreha and it was the only thing that worked.? Cook up some rice with extra water.? After 20 minutes pour the extra water into a cup and cool it.? I had to sweeten it to get Liam to drink it, but taking an once or two every hour did the trick.? Liam was getting so dehydrated he almost had to be hospitalized, but this rice water worked.? Kathy, Liam's mom (11) (unknown) , sorry to hear about your situation. My son Ben has stayed home all week, and missed more school this year, than days that he's been at school. He was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and stomach virus. He has had fever every night for the past two weeks. The Dr.'s won's give him any antibiotics. (How does an infection go away without it?) We went to a new pediatrician's office today and saw a fill-in Dr., who said that this is his 1st and only time to be there. Why not give him the simple colds and cough, rash cases, not the complex cases. I thought that the front office pre-screens patients cause for coming in. (What is there job anyway?) The fill-in Doc said that he wanted us to come back in a week to see the regular Dr. Meanwhile, I could almost bet that he'll have fever for another week, until Tuesay, and a few days after that for the medicine that I pray the regular new Dr. will give us and for it to work. Can anyone please share their experiences with irritated small intestines? Ben is on the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast). Other than that right now, he likes eggs and popsicles. It's hard for me to get him to eat alot of variety and quantity. Usually, he eats everything and anything! Thanks, as always, for your imput. Guest guest
Molly, I found " Culturelle " a pro-biotic at Walgreens drug store. It is 10mil cells of lactobacillus and will help with the stomach issues. We gave it to Sam when he contracted Rotavirus last March. If you break the capsules open and pour the cultures into yogurt or applesauce it is tasteless - just do not put it into anything hot (like oatmeal). Hopea ll is better soon! Barb R. Guest guest
Hi, Ana (17) has also been out of school since it began on Sept 2; she only went twice so far, due to diarrhea problems. It is not that she has to go to the bathroom every hour, but I prefer to keep her at home when she has this problems. I cannot keep Ana strickly on the BRAT diet, but try to, also I'm trying the rice water,  I don't like to use " Immodium " , only in extreme cases.  I am also giving her thick soup made of carrots and potatoes, with toasts for I read that the very liquid bouillon are not recommended (as it was before). I usually give Ana " Enterol " ( saccharomyces boulardii liophilise) which is against diarrhea, but don't know if you find this in the USA. I also went to the doctor (family doctor) and she did not want to give me the order to get a lab test for parasites, she is sure is not this. It seems like there is a virus going around at this moment; several children are sick. And to get antibiotics is another story; the Belgian health care system limits doctors to prescribe them, and if they do, they give you the generic type. Hope everyone gets better! Bonnie --- El dom 13-sep-09, Barbara Rizk <rizk22@...> escribió: De:: Barbara Rizk <rizk22@...> Asunto: Re: (unknown) A: Mom2lfm@... Guest guest
I was told applesauce is very effective because it contains pectin which absorbs water. When Liam was going through his constipation phase we had to avoid it. Guest guest
Thanks Kathy for the tip! I made applesauce or (applemousse) today for Ana. I only had the " Jonagold " kind, but it worked very good and the taste was okay for Ana. What kind of apples do you usually use to make it? Guest guest
Well written, and you've stated your concerns, what needs to be done, and why. It's completely reasonable, and they should have no trouble fixing this problem :-) If they do................ well, you've already requested the meeting. What I read is that you want him to use the bathroom in a private setting so that he can get the assistance he needs, without putting himself in danger of abuse and without the possibility of being humiliated. That is certainly quite reasonable, and it's really sad that you have to get this written into the IEP... common sense. If the nurse's bathroom is too far, how about a teacher bathroom.... are there any of those closer? Good luck... I hate those frustrating nights when you are so mad about the treatment of your child that you could just scream, and I'm glad that it's morning and you can deliver your letter! , mom to (13) (11 DS), and Sammy (10) Kiersten wrote: > > > I am copying a letter that I have just finished and plan to hand carry > to my son's school in the morning, make that THIS morning.
