Guest guest
Here is what I know about my depression. 1st I was a alcohol/drug user for 26 yrs after a not so good childhood. Long term the drugs robb the body of the ability to produce seritonan and dopimene (didnt spell either correctly). This produces natural hormones that allows us joy and peace. This is what anti depressents put into your system when the body no longer can produce them. This said, even on good days it is no joy to remind ourselves that we carry a life threatning disease and that in itsself is depressing. Hep makes me tired also and when Im tired I am never in my best mood. The treatment available's main side effect is depression. Man that cheered me right up. Actually my life as a whole never has been better thanks to Christ. Take care L ________________________________ From: deborah brown <heaven_scent_in_55@...> Hepatitis C Cc: deborah kay mand <heaven_scent_in_55@...> Sent: Wednesday, September 9, 2009 11:46:16 AM Subject: Re: (unknown) patti, is just knowing we have hepC causing the depression or is the hepC causing alot of it and why is that? im sure its a tad of both but what is the hepC actually doing to " your brain " that makes you feel depressed? Guest guest
Dear Karin, I am sorry that you are having such a hard time. There is help for you. If you are near NYC, there are really good GI doctors who are experienced with achalasia. I went to see two of them who both recommended surgery which I had in August. The first one is Dr. Lawrence Cohen from Mt. Sinai Hosptial. His number is 212-996-6633. The second GI I used was Dr. Arnon Lambroza from Cornell-Weill Hospital. His number is 212-517-7570. Both are very experienced with achalasia. My surgeon was Dr. Barry Salky from Mt. Sinai. His number is 212-241-6156. He's terrific. I wish you the best of luck. > > > >  > > > > Can someone please help me i was diagnosed with achalasia a couple weeks ago after about 2 years suffering i went through the botox which made me worse now im not eating its getting harder for me to drink fluids im getting weaker and now the latest dr i went to said he doesnt know if its achalasia im getting more depressed im sick of doctors i need help and it seems like no one can i have all the symptoms of achalasia i have been diagnosed but yet another dr shut the door in my face any one have any ideas because i sure dont have any anymore > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Karin, I too went through 3 doctors before they finally diagnosed me with Achalasia. I got everything from GERD, to diffuse esophageal spasms, and took a long list of meds, none of which helped. Finally, I went to one of the top GI's in the area, he was head of the GI unit at Mt. Sinai in Miami Beach (it took me more than a month to get an appointment, BTW) and he's affiliated with the University of Miami. when he saw the results of a barium swallow and manometry I had done a year ago he immediately identified it as achalasia. He had me do a second barium swallow and an endoscopy to confirm everything. He's recommended surgery and I have an appointment to see one of the heads surgery at the University of Miami, who has done surgeries for achalasia since 1995. My point is I agree with everyone here...go see the best, and take all your records and film! Best of luck, I do feel for you, as I was there until recently! PS IF you don't mind trying alternative medicine, I've been going to acupuncture, and while it hasn't cured the Achalasia, it has improved the symptoms tremendously! I was to the point I thought I was going to lose it, I'd lost 50 lbs, and get anything to go down (sometimes not even water!). Now I'm much better! Still have it, so I'm seeing the surgeon, but I'm not the mess I was a month and a half ago! > > > > > >  > > > > > > Can someone please help me i was diagnosed with achalasia a couple weeks ago after about 2 years suffering i went through the botox which made me worse now im not eating its getting harder for me to drink fluids im getting weaker and now the latest dr i went to said he doesnt know if its achalasia im getting more depressed im sick of doctors i need help and it seems like no one can i have all the symptoms of achalasia i have been diagnosed but yet another dr shut the door in my face any one have any ideas because i sure dont have any anymore > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Deborah,  Knowing we have it surely doesn't make us feel like a jovial comic for sure. LOL Lloyd is right and I mispell the two also but Seritan and.dolpimin is deminshed in our brain as the disease progresses. Thus far I have refused all anti-depressants but that may change when I see the psychiatrist on Oct 2. I know we are going to butt heads but I don't believe in western meds and just want to talk and try to comprehend how my ex could break 3 ribs, tear both rotator cuffs, and herniate 9 verterbre, how anyone could inflict such hurt on another. I left 4 years ago but have yet to let a man touch me since and frankly, I'm tired of it. Tired of being afraid to touch a man, among other things, and tired of fighting this constant fear on my own. A friend walked into my kitchen a few  weeks ago, I didn't hear him, and when I turned around, I screamed he was shocked. I felt cornered. Now he's scared to death of me. LOL " For gosh sake, get over it, " is my mantra every day. It hasn't worked. I want to know if Hep C makes u incapable of forgiveness or if this is normal due to Hep C. I forgive others of small aggrevations, never held a grudge in my life, don't like the feeling, but this problem builds instead of deminishing. I go to church and forget it for awhile by being around other christians, singing, feeling positive people, positive input around me but then I come home and it starts all over. I still wake up crying dreaming the same nightmare over and over. 4 years darn it. Is my ex destined to ruin the rest of my life or am I allowing him to ruin it?  Do I need to take the anti-depressants or just find a nice guy and learn to trust again? Do anti-depressants work or do they make u a zombie?  Patti    From: Lynae <lynae.monique> Subject: (unknown) Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 6:44 PM Does anyone know if taking 2 baby asprins every nite would be bad for someone with hep c? Guest guest
karin- my son had a 50 lb weight loss before being diagnosised with achalasia. he could not eat anything or drink anything. he had a tube in his nose for feeding. doc tried botox, we were hopeful, it failed to do anthing. he went to cleveland clinic and dr thomas rice did a manomery and a barium swallow. these test confirmed achalasia. he had a heller myotomy with a dor nissen by dr rice feb 11 2009. he is back up to a good weight for him and can now eat and drink. I would encourage you to find a specialist in achalasia and go where ever they are. it was hard. the traveling, the expense, the missed school for him and work for my husband and I. it was also soooo worth it. best wishes to you...angela (unknown) Can someone please help me i was diagnosed with achalasia a couple weeks ago after about 2 years suffering i went through the botox which made me worse now im not eating its getting harder for me to drink fluids im getting weaker and now the latest dr i went to said he doesnt know if its achalasia im getting more depressed im sick of doctors i need help and it seems like no one can i have all the symptoms of achalasia i have been diagnosed but yet another dr shut the door in my face any one have any ideas because i sure dont have any anymore

Guest guest
patti i will write you back in your personal mail about your personal pains ok...  yeah i guess what im trying to figure out is if the hep c is going threw our brain then it  is causing disturbances which is causing the depp. so it sounds like yes is thee answer. its weird to because over a yr ago before i found out i had this i went to the doc for something, forgot what, lol, anyhow i was telling her how i can be doing something or wake up in the middle of a nap or just watching tv and all of a sudden i feel a whooooosh of depp just move right in,like a dam breaking, its nuts. and it goes away just as fast.so...i guess its the hep and the most important thing is to stay busy and keep moving and pray!!! and its important that even healthy people keep others in your life, loneliness doesnt help this disease.  if we dwell, which i know women have a tedency to do,we are just breeding more fuel for the depp so lets not do that i will write you tomorrow morn in your private mail. i lived a simular life as you did but im not gonna let the devil win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
Where do you live? > > karin- my son had a 50 lb weight loss before being diagnosised with achalasia. he could not eat anything or drink anything. he had a tube in his nose for feeding. doc tried botox, we were hopeful, it failed to do anthing. he went to cleveland clinic and dr thomas rice did a manomery and a barium swallow. these test confirmed achalasia. he had a heller myotomy with a dor nissen by dr rice feb 11 2009. he is back up to a good weight for him and can now eat and drink. I would encourage you to find a specialist in achalasia and go where ever they are. it was hard. the traveling, the expense, the missed school for him and work for my husband and I. it was also soooo worth it. best wishes to you...angela > > (unknown) > > > Can someone please help me i was diagnosed with achalasia a couple weeks ago after about 2 years suffering i went through the botox which made me worse now im not eating its getting harder for me to drink fluids im getting weaker and now the latest dr i went to said he doesnt know if its achalasia im getting more depressed im sick of doctors i need help and it seems like no one can i have all the symptoms of achalasia i have been diagnosed but yet another dr shut the door in my face any one have any ideas because i sure dont have any anymore > >
