Guest guest
More on mercury. Make sure that you don't dispose of your energy saving fluorescent light globes by putting them in your weekly rubbish collection. If you accidentally smash an energy saving light globe, call your local EPA office or council for advice or have a look at the site that Sheila suggested or the one that I previously posted (the US EPA). The energy saving light globes contain mercury and I can see that mercury contamination of landfill is going to be a major issue in the future. Mark my words! Everyone thinks they are being 'green' by using them and saving power, however they are a looming environmental problem just waiting to happen. Guest guest
> > Have you considered that all your problems just might be caused by mercury poisoning http://www.mercurymadness.org/ > Very interested in your history Dawn and the site Sheila. My Mother was a dental surgeon and her first baby was deformed and died. Both my sister and I who came along later have had back operations, I have had two. One case history talks about back surgery and mercury poisoning. My Mother had no protection from mercury - I remember her mixing the amalgams and mercury spilling onto the floor in the surgery. Also when the first Keri was conceived she had no protection from x rays either .... I had my fillings replaced in 2005. luv Keri
Guest guest
Dear Anne, I'm so glad that you were finally diagnosed correctly and I'm so pleased that it was tv that helped with that diagnosis. For the folks who have been writing to the various news/medical drama/talk shows to get segments on stills produced, (I'm sorry - I just have too much on my plate these days), you may want to mention Anne in your letters and the relief she indicated in finally getting a proper diagnosis. I've been fortunate enough to have had 2 really terrific rhuemy's (several bad ones that I had queasy feelings about and dropped pretty quickly - I've learned to trust that gut feeling sometimes). The first one was when I lived in Orlando and I continued to see her even after I moved 4 hours away as I heard the awful doctor stories on this loop. She was very professional, but rather difficult to get to open up. Al and I get really goofy at the doctors and little by little she started to open up and make jokes occasionally and by the end of our relationship, I was crying to have to leave her. On a regular basis, I would ask about symptoms that she had never heard of but would be rather common on stilligan's island. She was always honest and would say she just didn't know. One time I complained about something or another, don't even remember anymore. She looked at me in dead seriousness, and acting like she really knew the answer to my latest symptom, said, " well Carole, I just read a study on that and they indicated that the best treatment would be a lobotomy! " . It took a second to register and we all laughed like crazy, and she was so proud to have made us laugh as we always were making her laugh. Guess it was all in my head! Guest guest
Hi Robin, You do not mention what you do for exercise. My suggestion would be to get with a personal trainer. I started seeing a person trainer in January and 3 months later I have lost 38lbs and 38 inches. It has been worth every penny. Even if you do not work out with one weekly just to go every few weeks and have them get on track will be worth while. Diet wise I would check how many carbs you are eating and what kind and of course to make sure you are getting enough protein. The website www.thedailyplate.com is a wonderful tool to track your food intake as well as your exercise. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Hi Robin, Have you used any online tracking program? In addition to the band, I use thedailyplate.com. I paid the (small) fee to get the whole works and I LOVE it. You enter your weight, your goal weight and how fast you want to lose the weight. Then, you enter every bite you take. It takes discipline and honesty with yourself. You can enter exercise, as well. I don't enter it, but I try to walk most days. If you stay around 60 grams of protein per day, stay away from white carbs, try to take in 64 oz per water, and stay within the guidelines, it will work for you. It's kind of fun, visual, and very informative. My daughter is using it w/out a band, and she is finding it very helpful as well. Hope this was helpful. Guest guest
HI My husband is on Provigil he has sleep apnea and he falls asleep like a person with Narcolepsy. It is used for narcolepsy patients. I was told it was a upper to make you stay awake all day then go to sleep at night. He does not have fibro. I do. the provigil website will explain about it more. One pill is about $22.00 a piece most insurances will NOT cover it. I do know be very careful with that. When they started my husband out with it they did samples and when he ran out while waiting for insurance approval he was literally out (sleeping) all the time. which is very serious. I am shocked on how much control this drug had on him. He is 6'5 330lbs andd on 200mg. Be careful Lots of Love from a Fibro Friend (unknown) Has anyone out there heard of Provigil? My dr gave me a prescription for it but I don't know anything about it. Thanks all you wonderful ladies out there if "fibroland" ha ha! Guest guest
Hello , I have been working out about 4 times a week and I try to walk on the days off excersize. I have been away from Oregon for 6 months now and been eating out with friends. I don't eat much because my fill keeps me limited. I am a diabetic and inject insulin 4 times a day. I have only lost 30 lbs and I had surgery in Jan of 07. The first 30 came off very easy and I have been stopped at this point for over a year. I will go to what you suggested and start keeping track of what I eat. I can't eat much so, I must be eating the wrong thing. Have you lost everything you needed to lose? I still need to lose another 50 lbs and I will do it this year. I know it will come off. I do have a belly flap that just doesn't seem to go away. Is there something I can do about that? Thanks . Guest guest
It's been one of those days! Yes, Shirley is a medication used in narcolepsy. I know several FMS and CFS friends who have been on it and it has helped them to have a little more energy during the day, and more restful sleep at night. A lot of the time insurance will not pay for it, unless you have a diagnosis of narcolepsy. Sandie -- (unknown) Has anyone out there heard of Provigil? Guest guest
Congrats on getting properly diagnosed; though this is one of the worst type of diseases to have to deal with. You probably have " chronic Lyme " since you have gone so long without proper treatment. I'm glad to hear that you are starting to feel better. I was finally diagnosed with not only Lyme, but also one of the co-infections called Babesia. Did you have any of the co-infection tests done as well? It may be a good idea to bring up to your LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) because Babesia has to be treated or treatment for such much begin before start before the actual Lyme to be effective. As my LLMD explained to me, if we didn't start treatment for the Babesia first, it would be like knownly fighting a losing battle because both Lyme and Babesia contribute to immune deficiencies and if we started the Lyme treatment before the Babesia treatment, I would end up even sicker. I was on oral Docylcycline 1200mg per day as well as 600mg Azithromycin and Malarone for the first 6 months. I started to feel better and then I became very ill with an opportunistic infection of unknown origin, which made my Babesia and Lyme relapse. I'm now having to receive IV Rocephin every day at the outpatient IV therapy unit of the hospital. I live in FL, my LLMD is in LA, and I got bit in 2006 in TN. My LLMD told me that sometimes, even after a patient reaches " remission " , any traumatic or opportunistic infection can send us back to square one because such trauma whether it be physical or emotional, can lower one's natural defenses and that gives the Lyme bacteria the opportunity to " over-take " the body again. I'mglad that you had knowledgable and caring relatives to direct you to getting properly tested by IGenex and diagnosed. Here are some websites to check out for further information. www.lymediseaseassociation.org www.turnthecorner.org www.ilads.org www.jemsekclinic.com www.lymenet.com I hope these sites help you. Self education is one of the best weapons you can use when fighting Lyme. Good luck to you and feel free to email me directly if you like at speedybak@... Guest guest
Beth,My heart goes out to you. I went through the same thing with my mom a year ago and although his pain and suffering is over, there will be a lot that you will go through now. Give yourself time to take it all in and know that I as well as everyone here are standing behind you cheering you on with support. If you need to talk I'm here. I am so sorry for your families loss. I know there are no words to comfort you and the grief will come in waves, you will get through it, some days you wont know how, but you will. People never truly leave our lives their love and memories follow us throughout reminding us that they will forever stay in our hearts. My thoughts and love are with you and your family. With love, (JAS, 23) Beth Yohnk <yohnkmom@...> wrote: My dad passed away peacefully last night at 11:15 surrounded by all of us. Guest guest
Beth, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my dad to cancer a year ago.....I think summed it all up for me as well. I am glad everyone was able to be around him when he passed. Just think that he isn't in pain anymore. HUGS, Helen Re: (unknown) Beth,My heart goes out to you. Guest guest
Beth- Hugs... It's always so sad to loose loved ones in death. It's not natural and that's why we grieve so.
