But to not care about parents who don't read the inserts is not right. I didn't even know there were inserts as a young first time mother, or how or where to request them from. ALL they gave me at the time was their BS pamphlets on the safety of them. There is nothing on their pamphlets about arthritis! If I tell a parent about an insert and they still choose not to read it, well not much we can do, but we still need to tell them. Re: religious standings? Peggy, You are great!! You sound like a kindred spirit as I have had to educate and inform school nurses and other 'authorities' about my rights as a parent NOT to vaccinate. It's the SOS and they like to throw their weight around and when I refuse to back down, they don't know what to think. I love being a burr under their saddle and have informed and educated many parents over the past 20 years about their rights and vaccine dangers. The 'I trust my doctor' mantra I continually hear just blows me away. I ask them, 'do you read food labels?' "of course' is the answer. And then I ask, 'do you read the insert labels for the vaccines?' I have yet to hear of one parent who has and the sheep mentality is unbelievable. My friend said that basically if they don't do their homework, then unfortunately, they (their children) suffer the results and she doesn't feel sorry for them. I'm in agreement, although I hate to see unhealthy, sick kids who are damaged by vaccines which are numerous these days. My friends who are teachers are overwhelmed w/the special needs kids they have in their classrooms and one teacher commented that the rise in vaccines is the only factor that she has found to be the cause. I applaud your standing your ground and letting these people have it. I never give my power away and challenge both school officials, legislators, and others who think that vaccines are necessary to being healthy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Carry on! Guest guest
Not sure how far along you are, , but with my first son I switched from a planned hospital birth to a home water/hypnobirth at 32 weeks... my son was born at 37 weeks, so I was only under the midwife's care for five weeks prior to birth. During that 5 weeks I saw my midwife more than I'd seen my OB during my entire pregnancy, and it was better quality care, by a LONG SHOT. It was the BEST, BEST, BEST decision I could have made for my whole family! If you really feel like you want a home birth, I urge you to contact a midwife or two and discuss the option. After having witnessed two hospital births then giving birth at home twice (I have a 7 week old and a 2.5 year old), I can tell you it's an entirely different experience at home... uplifting, empowering and so natural. Also, at home you can let your guard down and relax and focus on bonding with your baby... you don't have to be on your guard 24/7 to keep the hospital away from your precious newborn with needles of this, that and the other toxin, vaccines, vitamin K, etc.! I take pride that my baby has never had a needle poke at all! If you want more info, support, or an ear to bounch things off of regarding home birth, please feel free to email me off-list. Guest guest
Hi - I think your note was intended for - as I was discussing homebirth with her - and she is due soon. I agree - I spent hours and hours with all my midwives, went to their homes, and they came to mine - multiple times before all of my births. We ate together and hung together (as well as did baby preparation)! All of my homebirths went quickly and wonderfully - My children are 20, 18, 15 and 10. Even my miscarriage between my 15 and 10 year olds - although it was late, painful, and went on for days, was an important experience and better for being at home where I could grieve and not be interfered with. Among the many beauties of homebirth is that NO ONE hassles you about vaccines. Babies born in the hospital are expected to lose up to 10% of their birth weight. Babies born at home usually don't lose ANY of their birthweight. I am also happy to discuss this offlist; although, I believe some mention of homebirthing and other topics (breastfeeding, home education, eating local diets) is very appropriate to the vaccine discussion - I hope others feel similarly. Guest guest
I sent this a few days ago but found it today in my outbox - I think it never got sent, so I'm sending it again. Theresa Hi - - a couple of responses! On Jun 10, 2008, at 2:06 PM, godardam wrote: > Theresa, > > That was so refreshing and encouraging, so thank you very much! Her birth went beautifully at home. So - just do know that you still have options. I had 3 wonderful homebirths and 1 late term miscarriage (not wonderful) all at home after a devastating c-section for my first birth. Even though the allopaths would call v-bac " high risk, " I felt so much safer at home - - No matter what your decision, I hope you have a very safe and joyful birth! A quick note on tandem nursing. I did for a long while and just a piece of wisdom - I always thought I should nurse my newborn first. I'm not sure how I would do it today, but because my older child nursed so heavily, I often had way too much milk for my second (newborn). The letdowns were too much for him; I'm not sure he got enough hind milk - maybe too much fore milk - but he never got attached too nursing the way my first did. If I had it to do over, I would probably talk to a lactation consultant about how to make it more comfortable for my newborn. However, this could have been more due to his nature and his constitution than to the way tandem nursing plays out. > . It's a plan that you only consume food that has been grown and produced within 100 miles of where you live. It is the ultimate LOCALIZATION. Here in Ithaca, I have a number of friends who are on 100 mile. As for my family, we are about 80% local. We get all our meat and most of our veggies locally (veggies from about April through November). We still consume some grains (rice and wheat in small quantities) and oils that are produced elsewhere. This is a great way to punch the system and support family farms and healthier food! > > > I don't want to digress, just thank you again. > Digression is my middle name, I guess - at any rate, very very healthy pregnancy - wonderful birth to you - and please stay in touch!
