Guest guest
, , ...take a deep breath, let it out slowly...NO you are not going to die!! Out of 100 people exposed to hep C less then 4 will die FROM it, the rest of us die WITH it. Hep C takes a long time to cause damage, 20 or 30 years. I was infected in 1969 after a motorcycle accident. I was diagnosed in 2001 with very little damage. People infected through blood transfusions tend to have more damage sooner. I was about a grade 2 for inflamation and a stage 3 for scarring. If you are sure you infected just a few years ago you will be fine if you take care of you liver. Often times the person who knows about his or her infection will live a healthier life than a person who is unaware that anything is wrong. The old line about drinking eight 8 oz glasses of water has never been more important. A diet low in red meat, sugar and animal fats will help you liver. NO alcohol!! I don't know if you drink but if you do...STOP, if you can't stop try to reduce the amount, if you can't reduce...get help. Never take Tylenol with alcohol in your system. And my standard advice: go to www.hcvadvocate.org for downloadable/printable information. Guest guest
And I will add that I got hep around 1970. Through the years, I drank too much off and on. Despite that, I didn't develop any problems until 2004...34 years later!! Fortunately, I did finish treatment and have remained free of the virus (undetectable) now for 15 months after ending treatment. My point is that Glenn is right...your chance of dying of HCV right away is very small. You will most likely die with it, not from it as he points out. That's not to say that you shouldn't take action early. I am sorry that I didn't treat it many, many, many years ago. It could have saved me from the problems I have now. Just take the time to learn everything you can and chose your doctor wisely. You will learn a lot from the people here who have many years of experience living with and treating the disease. Good luck Dorothy _____ From: Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com [mailto:Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com] On Behalf Of hdhepper1 Sent: Saturday, May 30, 2009 10:21 PM Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com Subject: Re: I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO , , ...take a deep breath, let it out slowly...NO you are not going to die!! And my standard advice: go to www.hcvadvocate. org for downloadable/ printable information. Guest guest
when you get to 59 then the 60 mark might move to 75. or 90. psych meds are all a load on the liver, some moreso than others. there's alternative herbs for mood management, but sometimes they're also a liver load. gotta check'em out, probably best to use only as really needed. best anti-depressant i know of is aerobic conditioning combined with elimination of the additives in processed foods, but many aren't able to keep that up. an aversion to sweat can be lethal. there's many sites that give the list of complications of progressive hep-C. > RE: Re: I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO > > hi dorothy, >  > what exact health problems do come after having hepc for many > yrs? ive chosen not to do treatment. found out i have hepc 3 > months ago and ive had it 14 yrs...just interested in knowing > what i may be dealing with later in life. im 53 and i figure > if i live to be 60 im fine with that. so far i have no health > issues, just depression but ive had that most my adult life,i > dont take antidepressants, ive actually learned how to " trick " > my depression when it hits

Guest guest
yeah, i always hate it when i wake up again on this planet. but dealing with getting through the day always leads to things i'd like to get done or do. then when things are going well and the future doesn't look sucky it gets more tempting to dare to want to live awhile longer. the more the HCV virus is reduced in it's influence on one's life/mind the better life becomes. the virus is sneaky about undermining quality of life without full-blown obvious symptoms that can be attributed to it obviously. i'm at least curious to see what i can do and how long i can last messing with my little aliens. you know most of the DNA inside our bodies isn't even human? no BS... fact. we are colonies of interdependant lifeforms within an ecosystem. lord only knows who or what's really in control, but ego vanity says it should be me... which might be an unhealthy position really, since we're mostly puppets in a show existing for the amusement of higher powers. well, so much for the Sunday effect. > RE: Re: I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO > Hepatitis C > Date: Sunday, May 31, 2009, 1:15 PM > > > > > > > > > when you get to 59 then the 60 mark might move to 75. or 90. > > psych meds are all a load on the liver, some moreso than others. > there's alternative herbs for mood management, but sometimes > they're also a > liver load. gotta check'em out, probably best to use only as > really needed. > > best anti-depressant i know of is aerobic conditioning combined with > elimination of the additives in processed foods, but many > aren't able to > keep that up. an aversion to sweat can be lethal. > > there's many sites that give the list of complications of > progressive hep-C
