Guest guest
WONDERFUL!! PRAISE GOD, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU AND DAVID AND YOUR FAMILY!!!! WONDERFUL! BIG HUGS~CONNIE 's surgery Just a quick note to let you know that 's surgery went really well. The doctor is pretty confident that the growth was cancer free but we won't be 100 percent sure until we get the results from the biopsy. Thank you all for the prayers. I think the entire family got all of about 2 hours sleep last night. Right now his brother (our Airman who came home for the surgery) is on one side of him and his dad on the other watching him sleep and rubbing his head. We are so grateful for such a positive outcome! Thank you all so much for your prayers and good wishes. with love, Jenni Proud Air Force Mom! May God guide and protect our troops! Guest guest
Thanks, Barbara. You're right, I was a test case, but I allowed it because they dangled mobility in front of me at the 11th hour. Guest guest
Marissa, Trust me, you are NOT ranting. The disease is not frustrating enough, now you are forced to deal with not knowing anything too. You really have your hands full. It is so nice that you take the time to update s " A " family. We are all very concerned about him, so we appreciate that you keep us in the loop (far more than YOU are kept in the loop) Stay strong, and give our love. Guest guest
Glad for you! -a <melbert60@...> wrote:Hi All, I just wanted to thank everyone for all the get well wishes regarding my surgery, I appreciate the positive thoughts sent my way My surgery was just about 12 days ago, and I'm feeling pretty good, better than I would have anticipated actually. I'm slowly getting my strength back (after being on liquids nearly the entire time I was in the hospital, ugh) and the pain is manageable with Tylenol, so all in all, I'm happy The whole anesthesia experience went much better for me this time than ever before. I got the chance to have a long conversation with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery, and he was very intrigued by what had happened to me in my past anesthesia experiences...namely waking up with temporary paralysis. He said it was a phenomenon that sometimes ran in families...he didn't know what (if any) connection it had to my SMA, but said it was definitely caused by the muscle relaxants used in anesthesia, and that he would try to use only gas on me, and no muscle relaxants at all...which is what they did...used only gas (Thanks Alana!) And I'm happy to say that I woke up just fine this time, no temporary paralysis, no freak-outs WooHoo! The biggest problem I had this time, was the morphine pump for pain. It ended up making me extremely nauseas, so nauseas that I couldn't eat any solids for 4 days, which we all know isn't good for us SMA'ers...and nothing they tried to combat the nausea helped...so I just had to deal. By the time they got rid of the morphine, I was weak as a kitten, but that has been getting much better since I've been home and back to eating my husband's wonderful cooking All of the nursing staff at the hospital were very kind and helpful, one of the best experiences I've had so far with people generally unfamiliar in how to take care of a person with SMA. They gave me heparin injections the whole time I was there, plus kept my legs in these funny pump up boot things that constantly inflated and deflated to help prevent blood clots (especially good since I've had one in the past). All in all it seemed like they were very on top of things. So far, so good I'm very happy the surgery is over, and am very happy to be home Thanks again to everyone for the good wishes and kind words Take care, ____________________________________________________ Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. When you mentioned the " funny pump up boot things that constantly inflated and deflated " I was surprised because we sell those in Avon!! And I bought some! They are pretty weird lol, but hearing what you went through before with blood clots and circulation problems it made me want to be more careful too! <melbert60@...> wrote: Hi All, I just wanted to thank everyone for all the get well wishes regarding my surgery, I appreciate the positive thoughts sent my way My surgery was just about 12 days ago, and I'm feeling pretty good, better than I would have anticipated actually. Guest guest
Hi has been doing great since we got her home she is actually starting to walk almost normal for herself and not look like bambi any longer. Plus she started sleeping back through the night once we were out of the hospital. She wakes up sometimes cause she wants to come sleep in our bed but she was doing that before the surgery she's not complaining of pain when she wakes so that's a really good thing and she's only on pain meds not about twice a day so I'm happy with that. > CAthy, > I was so happy to hear that the surgery went well.
