overweight

I asked in a previous mail how many of us are overweight? I am hoping to

" prove " that candidiasis is responsible. I weigh about 263 pounds.

Lee

I'm 5'6, work at trying to keep up to 120 lbs, and have suffered majorly

from candida for most of my life. Not overweight, instead I'm underweight.

But I think that where candida tends to concentrate has something to do with

weight gain and weight loss, because it can make the pancreas over-reactive,

forcing more glucose into the cells than they need, where the excess is

turned into fat, and stimulating appetite. The sugar cravings that accompany

candida can also make you gain weight. And candida can suppress thyroid

function, making you more prone to hypothyroidism, and hence gain weight. In

my case, the candida concentrated with my adrenal glands, making me have a

lot of adrenaline, which made me burn more caleries than normal, making me

on the thin side. This is only my theory.

Hi

I think you are right! It makes perfect sense.

My docs VERY RELUCTANTLY tested me for thyroid. My docs have been making

me feel ashamed of myself my my increasing overweight. I have sobbed

and sobbed and punished myself and hated myself for my inability to lose

weight (more self-esteem issues there!) for 22 years.

When faced with a list of foods I had eaten, which proved I had stuck to

a 1,500 calories diet for three months with no weight loss, my doc

actually looked me straight in the eye and told me that I was " lying to

myself " by binging on stuff and not writing it down. He patronised me

and said " you are only cheating yourself " . Then he told me to leave and

start again.

I read hundreds of diet books, many of which said diet alone is not

enough - exercise!!!

I began walking, swimming and playing table tennis. No weight loss. So I

decided to take up something more strenuous: I played badminton

(against men) two hours a day six days a week. I weighed 260 pounds and

had support bandages on both knees. I worked myself until I was

exhausted. I felt " the pain. " It was a punishment regime. No weight

loss. I reduced the calories to 1,000. I used to have dizzy spells and

chest pains. I worked harder and ate less and less and went longer and

longer between meals.

Back to the doctor. It was clear he did not beleive me. He obviously

thought I was exaggerating the exercise and failing to record my true

eating.

Misery, depression, defeat, hopelessness. He prescribed psychiatric

drugs for the depression.

Bastard.

Oh sorry Lin I forgot to say I have candida in my pancreas, which fits

with your theory.

Are there any underweights out there who have been diagnosed as

adrenal-candidas?

When I was last at the doctor, I weighed 268--my highest weight ever. I

was skinny up until my late 20s. When I got pregnant with my son, I

gained 50 pounds. Through the birth process, I lost 25 pounds but never

lost the other 25. Instead I gained another 25...and another 25...and

another 25...and another 25. If I had a nickel for what I've spent over

the years on diet programs, books, videos, products, etc., I'd be rich

enough to hire a trainer and a cook (like Oprah)!! None of my efforts

have been successful. I crave sweets way too much. When I went to

Weight Watchers, we were allowed to have, if I remember correctly, 5

pieces of candy corn. Yeah, right! Like I could limit myself to 5!

Right now I am following a modified candida fighting diet. I just

bought a loaf of white rice bread at the health food store...it was

quite expensive and I don't want to see it go to waste. So I'm eating a

slice of that with each meal. It does have yeast, but it's wheat and

gluten free. It's very hearty and doesn't seem to trigger any cravings

for sweets.

I am going to a picnic today...I already have planned what I'm going to

eat. I am planning to be 'busy' (either in the pool or playing

volleyball or something) to keep me away from the food, esp. the

desserts.

D.

****I am 5'6 " , and weigh about 145 or so. I really can't blame candida on the

few extra pounds. I've had candida since I was in my 20's (when I STRUGGLED

to weigh more than 100 lbs). I attribute my 145ishness to middle-aging, and

my past diet of SERIOUS sweet addiction and total lack of exercise. In fact,

as little as I move around and as much JUNK as I ate (until about amonth

ago), I'm lucky I don't weigh DOUBLE that!! So I really can't blame

candida..... of course, it DOES make you wonder what I'd weigh if I DIDN'T

have candida, huh????

I weigh about between 230 and 250.

Candida causes overeating. It messes up the hormones that

make you feel satisfied after eating. Carbs are addicting

for this reason. The more you eat, the more you crave, the

worse it gets.

I don't know why, I think it is the hyperthyroidism I have but I currently

stand at about 122 pounds. Because my stomach is constantly hurting, I have

to force myself to eat and then I have to go lay down because my stomach is

in agony. I force myself to eat 2 times a day, take a pepto bismol most

times and will go have a nap to try to sleep off the nausea. I also have

polycystic ovaries, so that brings it's own tree of pain also. Maybe my lack

of weight (I am normally around 135 and healthy) can also be pinpointed to

not eating the right foods and targetting my possible candida? I have yet to

get to my Homeopath and get tested, but I'm almost positive that I have a

candida problem. In Dr. Crook's book, I completed the first quiz, and my

score was 13, telling me that according to that number, " your health problems

are almost certainly yeast connected. " Of course my GP won't tell me that,

he keeps putting me on more meds, or telling me " be patient, this med takes

awhile to work. "

So that's me at 263 pounds, Gloria between 230 and 250 and Debbie does

not give a weight but says 120 pounds overweight.

Whoops have I forgotten anyone?

So, what about this for a theory: *everyone* who is obese is suffering

from candida. Why not? We have said here that candida causes the

pancreas to malfuntion, causing overweight, and adrenal failure, causing

underweight. We have heard evidence that candida interferes with the

feeling satisfied mechanism, and also that it craves sugar and so makes

us feel hungry a lot more than we should.

Anyone got anything to add?

Before my separation I weighed about 20lbs overweight(it was hard to keep

the weight off; I kept gaining slowly). Then I stopped eating during my

depression and lost 40 lbs. Now I'm slightly underweight and hardly gain

weight, so my personal experience might support your theory. Even when I'm

eating a lot, I do not gain very much.

Go to your homeopath. Meds will only keep you on a

merry-go-round of symptoms and pain.

Meds cause candida.

I think I mentioned in my intro that I gained about 100 pounds in the last

5-6 years. I am that much overweight. I would like to lose at least 75 of

that. I am POSITIVE that candida is responsible for my weight gain. Not

only because of the sugar/carb addiction, but because of the possible

hypothyroid problems as well as other health conditions. I don't think my

metabolism is working properly at all. Perhaps candida has infected the

organs that control this.

Also...a question I wanted to ask was: Does anyone else have a

disproportionately large abdomen? I used to be a 36-25-36. Now that I've

gained so much weight, my waist is almost as large as my hips and chest.

People often ask me when I am due - like they think I am pregnant. That is

really embarrassing. And no matter what I do, it doesn't seem to go away. I

even exercise regularly and do extra sit-ups, etc.

This may sound weird, but every once in a while I have what I call a

" psychic " dream. It tells me things that are going on in my life, gives me

insight, or tells the future, etc. One night, I dreamt that an elf was

showing me how the yeast in my body was rising, like bread. I felt like the

Pillsbury Dough Boy, but it felt like another one of those dreams that was

giving me insight to my health condition. Since then, I wondered if the

candida was the cause of my disproportion. So, I was wondering if anyone

else had this problem?

It is not the vitamins. It is the candida. Try

Pau D'Arco Tea. I find that it helps with the

candida and calms the starved feeling.

I am going to have a cup right now.

Yes, i go through the feeling of compulsive eating.

I cannot stop eating, even when too full. That is

when the candida is rampant. I know that I have

systemic candidiasis. I am a carb addict. Sometimes

I can eat right and it all gets better; and then I make a

mistake and it all comes back.

It took a long time for me to know what is

the real problem. For me, I finally realized

that it is candida. I had to find it for myself.

I am so glad to have this group.

Peace and Joy,

Again, I have not been diagnosed with Candida, however THE

ABOVE written

piece is ME!!! I'm 5 feet tall and weigh OVER

150....horrible for me.

I crave crabs and sweets ALL THE TIME. And yes I never feel

satisfied after

eating. Well I may feel full for on hour but then I can

snack or eat another

meal all over again with no problem. I sometimes feel that

the vitamins also

make me more hungry and gain a few pounds. Any suggestions

out there or

comments?

Dear

I would just like to assure you that the big tum is candida. Definitely.

I used mine to my own advantage three months ago. I'd missed my train

and was stranded at a country station where the train going to my home

passed through fast, but did not stop. I went to the attendant and asked

him to have the express stopped just for me. He flatly refused, it was

impossible. The told him I was 8 months pregnant, and stood back from

the booth, puffing my stomach out for all I was worth. He got straight

on that phone and the express was halted on a red light.

That is the only time in 22 years that I found my fat belly an

advantage.

You know how men who drink a lot of beer get a big tum but skinny

everywhere else? Ever asked yourself what is actually INSIDE that big

tum? It can't be the beer because that leaves the body via urine. OK so

it is fat caused by too many calories, is it? So how come all those

calories collect in just one place in the beer drinker?

I think alcoholism is caused by candida. Sufferers crave the sugar and

yeast in the beer. They can;t just have a glass of it can they? They

have five, six, seven pints one after the other. No-one drinks that much

tea, or water, or milk now do they?

Anyone care to disagree? Would like to hear arguments against this

theory.

Lee

Oh by the way I guess this is a good time to tell y'all that I was a

conductor on the railway from 1977 to 1998, 21 years. I was the first

woman in Britain ever to qualify. So here is yet another photo of me,

It must feel really horrible for you to gain so much in such a small

space of time. I bet you feel pretty tired dragging it around. I know I

do sometimes.

Still, you can be certain that when you cure the candiasis and flush it

out, you WILL go back to your normal self. You have that to look forward

to.

Learning about candidiasis is a godsend. All those worrying little

illnesses, ailments, both mental and physical. All of them caused by

candida. Instead of having to find a cure for each and every one, we

just have to cure the one and in many cases we will be restored to good

health.

I am SO SO SO grateful I was at last diagnosed after (it now looks like)

17 years of misdiagnosed/undetected candida.

Well where did you read that? I just sort of realised this all by myself

Interestingly, my father was an alcoholic from before I was born and my mother

eczema, anxiety and depression. Perhaps both had candida>

Hi Lee,

Thanks. You don't look that heavy in your picture. Since I started my diet,

thyroid

medication and supplements, I started losing. I'm hoping it will continue.

Other diets

wouldn't work at all. I'm just starting to feel better from the die-off

symptoms.

Let's hope that we can support each other to become healthy in body, mind and
