Guest guest
I take Valerian Root with lemon balm(idk dosage) and time released melatonin (10mg) every night, helps amazingly! I also have a c-pap machine, haven't noticed its help yet but should start helping my sleep pattern soon. Elaina From: C-H <kuriouserx2@...> Subject: [ ] insomnia Date: Monday, May 25, 2009, 1:32 AM How about the insomnia? Any thoughts on what I can do other than take Benedryl as a sleeping pill (which knocks me out for 9-10 hours till I awaken tired as can be till the next night's insomnia)? Guest guest
Some people take Melatonin to help with the Insomnia which can be bought anywhere where supplements are sold and any Pharmacy, Walmart, Etc. In fact, insomnia is the only problem I have had. I take a benadryl at bedtime and that helps. Also, when it got to the point I just had to sleep I went to every other night with ldn. It helped me and now the insomnia is not such a big deal. I also adjusted the dosage by 5 mg and that helped too. You can play with it some and see what works for you. And just for info, they say that if you have insomnia it means the ldn is working so it's a good thing. Sweet dreams!
Guest guest
This is what I use to sleep....I hope it continues to work once I start treatment. I take (2) 25 mg benadryl (generic) and have recently added (2) 3 mg melatonin. This combo knocks me out every night and very inexpensive. Dr has not said that this is bad for my liver, and I have not read anything so far that said it is. Wanted to share, maybe it might work for someone else. From: gadamscan@...Date: Fri, 23 Jul 2010 19:22:04 -0700Subject: [ ] Insomnia BethMy insomnia is so bad that I couldn't care less if there is a little bit of harm!! I'm of the school that says, if you take medication as prescribed, you shouldn't worry about it. Both my Dr. and my Pharmacist look out for me. When it comes to getting my scripts, I like the fact that I still go to a Pharmacy that is only in the business of medications and over the counter stuff. I can't buy a computer there or anything else. The staff all know me and I know that if I'm given a new script for something, of the several pharmacists there, someone has checked the rest of my current meds. However, if anyone took my sleeping pills away, then they might as well put me in the psych ward. Yup, I'm very dependant on them; but, I really don't care, as long as I get sleep.Gloria how dangroues are the sleep aids to the liver? I know if I dont get my rest I am really a dead head but I dont take anything and some nights are pretty bad and I still go to work.-- The New Busy is not the too busy. Guest guest
Hi to everyone, Thanks for all the good suggestions and help. Information and education is the key here. I can't remember off hand (Brainfog, what can I say)), but somebody wrote about insomnia and that is one of my worst problems besides crushing fatigue, and just feeling really sick all the time. I have had insomnia forever and maybe it was my first real symptom. Without sleep aids I will lie awake all night, because I have tried it several times. Therefore may-be it will be the last symptom to go away as well? I am going for the kill on these critters. Whatever it takes, except IV antibiotics, which has not proven to be totally effective. I read an article about long term treatment with Benzathine Penicillin IM and that looks promising. People with chronic Lyme were cured. Does anybody have any experience with this? Guest guest
I used IM Bicillin injections for more than a year...on and off. They helped a lot at first and then stopped working. Painful and causes lumps but you don't get any GI problems with injections. I've been ill for 10 or so years, diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago and seen many MD's. I have been with a LLMD in NY now for 2 1/2 years. my worst symptoms are in my neck, jaw, mouth, face, eyes...and then of course the usual stuff....arthritis, insomnia, fatigue, migraines. ________________________________ From: Maud Steinberg <maudsteinberg@...> Sent: Thu, August 19, 2010 10:45:12 PM Subject: [ ] insomnia Hi to everyone, Thanks for all the good suggestions and help. Guest guest
Several years ago I went did the saliva tests and found I was low on progesterone (among other things). I've used progesterone cream for a few years now (predating my lyme diagnosis) and it has helped my sleep cycles, and my adrenals. ( I also tried Ambien for 2 days before progesterone and it was a disaster.) Good luck finding the right solution for you. Guest guest
I have had all my hormones adjusted, but that didn't do anything for my sleep. Nothing seems to help except tranquilizers and may-be I have to settle for that for now. I need sleep to heal. Without it, I am worth nothing. Guest guest
L theanine is my life saver. Enzymatic therapy makes a great proprietary blend for cortisol management called sleep tonight. It has ashwaganda, L theanine, magnolia, empimedium and phosphatidylserine. The ashwaganda may be a challenge for some lymies. Monty Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T Re: [ ] insomnia melatonin...... Guest guest
Our holistic doctor started us on melatonin long before I heard of LDN. She said that most people over 40 are lacking in it and it is typically why elderly people have insomnia. The body produces serotonin during the day and melatonin at night to set the circadian rhythm. I told her that the 3mg tablets did NOTHING for me. She said to start with 3 mg and up it 3 mg per night until you wake up groggy the next morning and then back off to the last amount. For both my husband and myself, we woke up groggy at 12 mg. Since they make melatonin in 10 mg capsules, we simply settled on those. Melatonin is not like a sleeping drug. It will not knock you out or make you sleep deeply all night necessarily, but it will increase your natural sleep and help keep the body balanced with natural hormones. I do love the chamomile tea and valerian as well, so those can be added without ending up on sleeping pills that can be a real trap for addiction. Hope this helps, Francie > My biggest issue: terrible insomnia, I toss and turn in bed > for hours, esp. 2am - 5am, third night in a row now. > > Ideas I have about this: > > - try chamomile tea + valerian root half hour before taking LDN > - 10mg over-the-counter melatonin > - go transdermal: pour capsule into spoon with coconut oil in it, > mix it up, and apply paste to inner part of thigh. Guest guest
You can take 5HTP - and GABA is good. Magnesium helps. Or, I like " True Calm " by Now which has GABA, Glycine, Inositol, Taurine, Valerian + some niacin, B6 and magnesium. I also like Dr. Whitaker's " Restful Night Essentials " valerian, lemon balm, L-theanine, hops and melatonin. I used to take all the above - now I need less as I've slept well for awhile. That is an unusually high dose. Are you following the dosing directions to keep it an hour before and two hours after food and many hours away from any mineral supplements?
