Well, I'm still a bit behind in emails, but I hope thing went better today

(Tuesday) than Monday.

When do the kids go back to school in NH? Ours don't start until after Labor

day in September, and Henry can't wait. He's already gone and done half a

semester's worth of physics homework and is thinking of hitting the school

book store this week for the calculus book to start working on that! If a 19

yo is bored, I can imagine how bad your girls are.

AMEN to that!

Alot of fighting going on in my

fighting. Abby

hummmm are you living here?!?! LOL I totally understand! Although

hubby was still in a rotten mood today when he got home from work,

but he seems to be over it now. I was so irritated myself yesterday

that I read your post and meant to get back to it, but then with the

bank and all I never did remember until I just read Sue's post to you.

>Thankfully my lil bro came sat and gave

> me some peace.

That was great of him! All of my brothers and sisters are married

with kids of their own and live a distance away. I used to do that

for my brothers and sisters and now understand how much they must of

appreciated it.

BIL had no idea what he was going to do

LOL... don't ya just love inlaws? Actually mine are pretty good with

the exception of a couple of them. Considering there are 6 of them I

think I made out pretty good.

After awhile they

> left. BAM it is 7:10 pm. We did not eat until 8pm. I was still

I HATE eating late. Last night's dinner wasn't until later then

that. Oh well.. I guess that's what I get for taking late Dr's

appointments. We probablly should have ate before we left, but that

would have meant a 4:30 dinner to get finished in time and that is

really kind of early soooo....

Then of course what really got me going was

> they talked about reproducing. If there is a god this will not

happen.

Oh yes... I know a couple like this! My adopted daughters biological

father and mother. He had my oldest taken away and her mother had

both her and at least one other that I know about taken away, and

last I knew they both wanted more (they are seperated and with

different people now). You would think that if they had their

children taken away they would know better, but nope.. they think the

next one will be different. It's really kind of sad.

.. Tummy does not

> feel to well. I think it is cause we ate so late. So todays goals.

Hope your feeling better and that today went better for you!

> Well, the weekend is over. ALMOST. No school today do to holiday.

It looks like a regular day here. The laundromat was a little more crowded,

but the same amount of people were lined up to take the bus to their jobs in

NYC and the private school kids were all headed out with backpacks. Henry

and Ed both left around 6 am, so I was able to get an early start today.

>We planned a trip to burger king which i never get to have. Hubby

> hates it.

It's the opposite here - Ed loves BK but Henry & I always outvote him and we

go to McD's.

>Also got my

> favorite granola. Can only get it there. YUM again.

It's almost time to take the ride down to the mall that has the

Sonoma store so I can get my pumpkin butter. I *could* mail order it, but

the postage is more than the gas, so we'll make the trip and roam the mall.

We did stop for lunch and

> got a side salad, NO dressing, took two bites of a burger gave the rest to

> hubby, water, and some fries. Hubby was a little surprised.

So am I. That's great self control!

If you ever go to

> wendys there side salads are great for .99.

Hmm, I was about to say we only have a 's on the seedy side of town,

then remembered a new one just opened during the summer near the Stop n Shop

mall. Maybe I'll stop in some day this week if I have a few $$ leftover.

> Now I did get on that nasty thing called a scale. And I was up 2. So I

> now at an all time HIGH of 246.

I'll take it! Last night I was 264 but this morning woke up at 266. And this

is by *behaving* myself and eating only McDougall foods, too. But I do blame

Auntie Flo for this. She doesn't know if she wants to come or not, just

keeps peeking in every day or so but doesn't *stay* and do the job. Oh, I

feel so bloat!!

> I have to stop coming up with excuses not to exercise.

But that's the best part of my day! Not the exercise, the excuse-making. LOL

No, I kid. Yesterday I got in a tape, and today I'll try plunge into

's again. Last week I had been doing a few minutes on the treadmill

each day, but it just made my hip so sore. :(

I look forward to hearing/seeing how the day went.

The kids here have school today and all state employees will be

working. Not like a holiday at all.... except no mail and the banks

are closed.

My little brother (my angel), came and

BK is the food of choice around here, cheap and good, but very

calroie rich so we try not to have it very often. Which reminds me I

need to get some meat out for dinner.

Yesterday we

I just love places like that! I love the colors as well ;) We have

a jam that we were driving over an hour for once a year and would get

2 jars. I could hardly afford the price ($4.50+/half-pint) I found a

recipe on line (only one) for it and have made it up... I have yet to

open one of the jars, but know I can make it year round for less then

the cost of the 2 jars we would buy. I wonder if you could find a

similiar recipe for it, if you want to make it. I saw one on food

network (really I do watch other stations ;) that looked very VERY

yummy, but all the sweetened condensed milk they put in there was

enough to make me want to get my insulin refilled " just in case " .

*side note... they gave me some regular insulin after I had my 3 yr

old in case my blood sugar went out of whack because they took me off

the glucophage. I never opened the bottle and it expired.

We did stop for lunch and

I had a salad dressing from some resturant (I have no idea where)

that was a full packet of italian and only 25 calories for the whole

thing. I used it the other day and expected it to taste nasty, but

it was VERY Good. I guess I'll have to figure out where it came

from. We save all of our ketchup/mustard/honey mustard/soy/duck

sauce/horsey sauce/arbys sauce/taco sauce packets in a small shoe

tote in the kitchen, so I have no idea when it arrived.

>

> Now I did get on that nasty thing called a scale. And I was up 2.

Not that I'm one to talk these days, but you can do it! You can

fight this battle and win, though we may get bucked off the horse, or

even hop off and take a wonder we can get back on and lose this

weight. I really need to get my compass out and figure out where my

horse is and hop back on.

I get into these depressed states and I

Yep! We can do this! I was depressed/emotional there for a few

days, but I'm back out of it now. Let us know how the day goes for

you.

Don't you love when " emergency " meds expire without ever being used? It's

such a nice feeling!

I don't normally offer advice, but I thought of something that helped me. I always feel that the first 2 weeks of a diet are the hardest. That is when I am going through withdrawals both physically and psychologically. So, when I began I told my self that I was only committing to two weeks. At the end, I could re-evaluate and go off if I wanted to. It was easier for me to see it that way. At the end of my two weeks, I felt so much better and was having less cravings that it was easier to commit to the long haul. I have now been 4 months without a single cheat. Perhaps a short term commitment might help you re-light your pilot light? Just a suggestion. Best wishes!

Sheila,

CONGRATS on hitting your 50 pound goal - that's such an awesome feeling!!! :)

Fall seven times, stand up eight.- Japanese proverb

Re: monday

Hi all,

I officially reached my 50 lb. lost goal!!!!! I started this June 1 at 296 and weighed in at 246 this morning. I have already been to the Y for my morning swim and am drinking water like a fish. My exchanges have been really good except that when I get home from work at 11 pm I am always SO hungry it is hard not to get into stuff then.

Now my Y glasses story. I have been swimming almost daily since June 1 and always lay my glasses (almost blind without them) on a bench by the side of the pool. On Friday I got out of the pool and went to get my glasses and they were gone. I'm telling you I am in a MAJOR panic and the lifeguard helped me look for them. Well I went out to the front desk and asked them to page overhead about the glasses--no luck but they did search the pool area again and find a pair of glasses. Well guess what they aren't mine but look a lot like mine and almost have the same prescription. I have been wearing someone elses glasses all weekend and I suspect someone else has mine and probably doesn't even know they have the wrong ones. Isn't that bizarre? I went to the lost and found and asked about them and this guy pulls out this big tupperware bin full of glasses. Can you believe people just leave their glasses. Unbelievable. Anyway I thought you would enjoy this story.

LOL - this is a tradition I picked up from my own childhood - Christmas-y jammies and a robe, I almost forgot 2 years ago, the daughter said something about her Christmas jammies - panic - had to run out Christmas eve day to get some.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get to this one. Last week was terrible. I fell and tore my patella tendon and had money stolen. It left me kind of bummed and in hiding, so I just now am getting around to me e-mail.

Sheila,

I am so very proud of you! Fifty pounds is the incredible sum total of months worth of small achievements all rolled together. This is the time you celebrate every piece of chocolate refused, and every walk taken. You are doing GREAT! We can all learn from you and your 5.5 months to a 50lb lighter healthier body! Congratulations! A N D ... Thanks for inspiring me to go put in an exercise video!

I told the surgeon that he could forget it. I said that I was having a

hernia repair, hysterectomy, plus abdominal reconstruct done with in the

next 2 months. If he wanted to join the party and do it at the same time,

fine if not he could go operate on himself! He just laughed. We are

waiting a couple of weeks in an immobilizer to let the swelling go down.

Then, they want to MRI it and decide. I just don't think I could deal with

anymore slice happy doc's at the moment.

Great job. Drop those carbs a bit and hopefully you won't feel as hungry.

Hi ,

Best wishes for Craig. If they're going to keep him conscious, borrow someone's MP3 player that is loaded up with very loud, very hard rock! I've heard the sawing and hammering can be loud -- I was knocked out for my own surgeries. Past all of that, insist on physical therapy and push to get the best available. Its the fastest way to complete recovery.

Best of luck,

So we will see. I will let everyone know as soon as I can get back to a computer. I will say near the hospital so I do not have to deal with the traffic in the city with our full size long box

I'm sure my husband looked funny when we pulled over and he jumped out with a measuring tape and measured our truck outside the parking. The antenna was hitting on all the pipes in the parking. It was a tight fit. Well I guess I should get going I will write as soon as I can after his date. Talk later.

I'm so excited for you! That's really an obscene wait. The only thing

that I can say is that, " All things do pass, " and your husband's time

has finally come. I waited 18 months for hip surgery in Ontario and

had great difficulty during the last four or five months. But that's

all behind me now.

And tomorrow is your big day!! I hope that they don't send him home on

the same day for everyone's sake. I can't imagine that happening

because usually they need to give IV antibiotics, heparin shots, and

give the patient a little time to recover in order to navigate on

crutches or a walker, or figure out how to get those pants on without

bending!

Please keep us posted and I'll have you both in my thoughts tonight.

I'm glad you are on a bp med. I was worried about you. When bp is

borderline you can take the time to try lifestyle changes but with your

numbers you needed good drugs. :) Keep losing weight and exercising and

you can get off the meds.

Great job walking 3+ miles. What other exercise can you find that you don't

hate doing? Can you play soccer with the kids? Anything to get you moving

so it feels fun and not like exercise.

Don't get frustrated if your bp isn't perfect on Sat. It took several

adjustments to get mine just right. It has been perfectly controlled for a

long time now. Hopefully I can reduce meds as I reduce in size.

>So she told

A lot of sinus meds raise blood pressure sky high, which is why I can't take

most of them. Lots of cough meds, too, affect me similarly. This is why I

was switched to only a steroid nasal spray for allergy season to go along

with my usual asthma meds. Even my " emergency " asthma med (MaxAir) is a

milder one than Henry's (Proventil) because that one raises my BP too high.

Hopefully she found the culprit and between staying off the other meds and

on the new BP meds you'll be closer to normal levels when you go Saturday.

Just make sure you also continue your mild exercise. I hope you easily hit

your goal yesterday - walking 5 miles a day would be *great*!

Sorry to hear that your pressure was up so high. I hope it goes down soon. Oh I think it is great that you walked over 3 miles. You are doing great. 340/292.2/275 I went to the drs on sat. She stopped the physical and got me connected to an ekg. Heart was fine. My pressure was 180/100. Way to high. So she told me to stop all BC, sinus meds, and just take the non decongestion sinus stuff and a high blood pressure med. So I go back sat to see if it went down at all. We will see how it goes. So far today walked over 3 miles. Goal for today 5 miles. NH... Mom to Abby Liz 10/94 Anne 7/99
