Guest guest
Dear Friends: Yesterday, I was interviewed along with a panel of 4 other of Dr. B's patients. Lenny Sigal had been interviewed earlier that day and has said that he had never met a chronic lyme patient. I want to report to you what I said to Dateline in case it gets edited out: 1. I told them the reason Sigal said that is because he's an " insurance whore. " That's a legal term for doctors who testify against patients for money from insurance companies. And, he goes around delivering lectures to people that say that Lyme disease is overdiagnosed and overtreated. Well it is underdiagnosed and undertreated. 2. To the question of what would you do if Dr. B loses his license? I said: If you take away our doctors, you take away our hope. If you take away our hope WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE! To which the interviewer said: That sounds like a threat. I said: It is - we will take it to the courts, we will take it to the streets, we will take it to Congress, and if I fall, there are a 1000 other people to take my place. 3. The interviewer asked if it made us " feel better " to have a diagnosis [obviously parroting Sigal] of Lyme so that at least we could call it " something. " I said - ABSOLUTELY NOT!! - I'd rather have CANCER - at least there are doctors for cancer! 4. I also told him that we DON'T have radically different manifestations of this disease - we ALL have brain-fogging and neuro problems which should be easy to diagnose. Other systems are affected, but the neuro problems should give it away to any decent physician. 5. The interviewer asked whether Dr. B ever suggested the " normal " treatment of 10-21 days of doxycycline or if he ever told us that a controversy exists in this field. I told him that he didn't need to tell us because his patients have been through 20 or 30 doctors already who had given up on them. He only gets the " garbage can " cases who already know who the good guys and bad guys are. 6. The interviewer said Sigal told him that we are like Ayatollah fanatics about this disease. A more thoughtful member of our group said " I'm offended that he would use that terminology for sick people. " I, of course, threw the bomb and said: That's the first time I agree with Dr. Sigal because WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE!!! 7. The interviewer said that Dr. B suggested that there is a conspiracy between university based scientists and researchers vs. practicing physicians. I said that the only difference I would have with Dr. B is that these people ARE NOT scientists or researchers. They are paid consultants who are lining their pockets with insurance money at our expense. Further, the GAO is investigating the NIH and CDC. And, I was at an FDA lecture where the guy who is running the NIH experiment stood up and said " I already know how this is going to turn out. " That's not science! 8. As for conspiracies, I likened ours to the Tuskegee experiment. In Tuskeegee, they infected poor African Americans with syphilis, which is a similar spirochete to borrelia/Lyme, and then failed to treat them for 40 years so they could see the progression of the disease! I said that ours has only been going on for 25 years, so maybe in 15 more years the government will be paying reparations to those of us who are left and apologizing. And the only person standing between us and Tuskegee is Dr. B. Lovette
Guest guest
Dear Lovette, WOW! You were GREAT!!!! I pray to God that somebody has the sense not to edit that. I am so proud to know you. I feel like you're Wallace (Mel) in Braveheart!!!!!!!!!!! I am in your army all the way. I see Dr B on Monday and I can't wait to hug him for allowing me to feel this never before in 8 years feeling of " life. " I'll probably cry. God you are so right to say we'd rather have cancer. This horrible stress of not knowing if our LLMDs are going to be here for us is horrendous. I am living proof of a " chronic " Lyme patient. I just want to smack Siegal and put a hundred ticks on him----no, 1,000,000 and save the other trillion for the " boys up north. " Proud to be your friend, Helen

Guest guest
Dear Lovette, Bravo, Bravo, BRAVO!!! I never could have come up with the concise answers that you did...and that's right, we have NOTHING TO LOSE!!! You skewered the Weasel! Now let's hope that Dateline does your interview justice. Without commenting on each of your answers, I thought that they all were right on! Great job! We are very fortunate to have you fighting for us all...especially when you've had to deal with your latest problems. Guest guest
Dear Lovette, You were great--I'm glad you got on instead of me (I was bumped for a man). Are we going to start the Green Panthers or something? BTW, did you ever hear of disability having to be used to pay alimony in a divorce settlement? Right on!! (I know, corny from the 60's). While searching I found this offensive web site that I just posted about. It saddens me to think this child went to the grandma who also said she thought a hurt the babies Kathy mom to Sara 9..........a was a beautiful little 6 yr. old
Guest guest
This list followed the story as it unraveled. You must have been too busy listening to that funky music you like...lol!! The little girl with DS was darling. Makes you wonder what type of abuse she suffered before her parents arrest. As a former CPS worker, I have alot of questions that were not asked or answered. I'll be interested if the appeal is upheld or not. As an adoption worker, I'm glad to see that the kids were adopted by their foster families. I think if the family were in the home as much as what was stated that they are, they know more than what they have said. Others in the family must have looked the other way, too..that is MHO. Guest guest
I watched the Dateline show tonight. Being in AZ I had watched the story as it happened, horrified. I was no less horrified and again reduced to tears for all those innocent children! After the Dateline show, our local news station did an Update. The kids were all 4 legally adopted today, their 3rd birthday. They changed their names. Three different families adopted them, but have chosen to remain in close contact. The three children looked good, considering. Even tho they obviously have problems they are happy and loved. , now , obviously the most affected looked loved, and happy on his new father's lap. While it is questionable how aware he is of what is happening around him his parents said that he responds and laughs when they play with him. He is now a part of a large family who conisder him a blessing. There was no update on a, the 5th and silent victim in this case.

Guest guest
Minti, I watched the show as it aired Pacific Time. At the end of the segment it mentioned that a is presently living with her grandmother. The same lady that testified that it was a " possibility " that her grandaughter could have caused that amount of damage to those babies. I think it's so unfortunate that a was not given a new home as well. The grandmothr is obviously unable to protect her. Guest guest
I saw this and couldn't believe it. What was more disturbing to me than the attorney was the grandmother going along with it and saying the little girl with DS probably did it, and now the grandmother is raising her. And the mother, well, I won't comment on her, I'd probably get kicked off the list for using that type of language. -- Sharon, Mom to (9, DS) and (5) > Hi! > > Did anyone see Dateline this evening? Guest guest
I watch dateline and they did an excellent job of not making it look like the easy way out but the healthy way out. The stated the dangers and the benefits. I cried because I know how it feels to be the funny fat person. It is not funny. He got in touch with his feelings I loved the part about wanting to lose weight to be there for his young kids. I have lost 40 pounds as of this morning and I can't believe the difference it has made in the way I look and feel. The MGB was the smartest choice I could have made.
