My problem is I have 10mg Antaxone(naltrexone)capsules and I don't know

the proper

distilled water ratio to

mix an accurate solution.

Could somebody please point me in the right direction?

It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

***I am still in search of a doctor who is open to use NDT to treat my Hashimoto'sand goiter.I am sick and tired, literally speaking, and I am carrying my soul on my feetright now and it is difficult to keep on walking.

Hello Ana,

I have been off-line for a few days, hence I'm a bit late with my suggestions. I read your previous mails and I gather you are looking for an endo who is sympathetic to prescribing NDT.... those are very few and far in between, but there are a few around. I don't know who they are, because I go about it in a different way. I buy the NDT myself, but have asked my doctor to monitor me.... I find that this is a lot easier to go round the problem, provided you can afford it. It is disgraceful that we are forced to buy our own meds to get the treatment we deserve, but like you, I was tired of fighting windmills.

What I did was this .... I took Levothyroxine for a year, but did not feel great on it. I even saw a (useless) endo who scribbled drawings on a piece of paper to 'show me how the thyroid works' and then categorically declared that the way to monitor my wellbeing was to be by TSH only.... nothing else mattered. I went back to my GP and said that I have no intention of seeing this endo ever again. I said that I understood his (GP's) predicament about 'not being able to prescribe NDT' (the hell I did !!) as it was not licensed in the UK, but Levo wasn't doing it for me, and if I bought NDT myself, would he please monitor me? - he agreed. I gave him literature on NDT so he knew what's in it and it's all above board that I take it.... only I have to buy it myself. Well, Thyroid S or Thiroyd from Greater Pharma costs me a mere £ 91 for 1 1/2 years worth of medication (I'm on 2 grains), and that does not break my bank. - I gather from your posts that you have already bought generic Armour, although it hasn't arrived yet. Still, it will most likely arrive sooner than you would be able to get NDT prescribed on NHS by anyone. From what I have read on here, it can take weeks, even months, to get a prescription for NDT approved by, and through all the right channels, and then even the pharmacies might have order it in.....so it could be a long wait.

You may find that doctors are a lot more sympathetic to NDT when they are 'off the hook' from having to supply it. If they can put in your file that it is "the patients wish" to take NDT, then he won't be seen not to follow the dictates of the RCP guidelines. On the contrary - if a patient insists on NDT treatment, then he will be seen as a conscientious doctor, who is "limiting damage" by monitoring you to see that you "come to no harm" <g>......

Not every GP might be sympathetic to your wishes though, but those who are not, are no great loss.... - just find another one.

Very best wishes,

This happened to me also, medical school must be so artistically inspiring!

Shame they do not learn to understand thyroid function better.

I am glad that at least your GP has been understanding and respectful towards

you and your health.

My GP is even refusing to do blood tests for me or to help me in other way. I

was so upset on Wednesday, I almost lost my voice during the consultation. He is

not a nice doctor, very disrespectful.

Yes, I bought generic Armour from Value pharmaceuticals but I just received an

email saying that is in backorder and it was expected to be shipped next week. I

called them but I couldn't get through.

I bought a bottle of 500, 1 grain, for £81 (minos UK VAT), I do not know how

long it will last me for. I hope I can do well on it and I do not have any

intolerance problems.

Do you know the T4 and T3 ratios for Thyroid S and Thiroyd? from which pharmacy

do you buy them?.

I think in my case, I will have to find another GP as I have met the " Dr. Jekyll

and Mr. Hyde " of General Practice. My god, what an awful and unpredictable

man!.

He told me even the PCT agrees to prescribe NDT, he will not do it as he feels

he is not the right person because he does not have enough knowledge. He insists

on me going to see an endo (even though I had provided him with a complete pack

of information on NDT, including letters from MHRA and other stating that is

legal to prescribe it).

I hope he has enough knowledge to treat colds and minor cuts!.

As I said above, he even refuses to do blood work as he does not agree I am not

taking my T4, to pressurise me for a referral to an endo and to get rid of me as

I am sure, I am a " difficult case " for him.

This is the nicest part of my consultation before I left the consultation room

furious and very upset.

, thank you so much for all your help and for taking the time to be

there. I do not feel so lonely in this quest for my health.

My best wishes,

Ana

Hello Ana,

***I am glad that at least your GP has been understanding and respectful towardsyou and your health.

Well, right now he is not in my good books. I think somebody has put a flea in his ear about NDT and he was quite obnoxious on the phone, blaming a slight liver enzyme increase on it and trying to put me back into the Levo-box. I hope he won't be too pushy, as I won't be having it and he should know me well enough for that after 14 years of being my GP. Plenty more (GP)-fish swimming in the tank.....***My GP is even refusing to do blood tests for me or to help me in other way. Iwas so upset on Wednesday, I almost lost my voice during the consultation. He isnot a nice doctor, very disrespectful.

Don't be afraid to change. Some doctors seem to forget that they have a duty to care ... and if they do not care about their patients and have no bedside manners, why have they chosen their profession in the first place ?***Yes, I bought generic Armour from Value pharmaceuticals but I just received anemail saying that is in backorder and it was expected to be shipped next week. Icalled them but I couldn't get through.

I hope it arrives soon. A bottle of 500 for £ 81 sounds expensive for generic Armour. I bought mine (Thiroyd) from this place -

http://www.1drugstore-online.com/showprice.asp?name=thyroid & bysearch=ok & Go.x=0 & G\o.y=0and I was very impressed with their services. It arrived promptly after 21 days, no VAT to pay, and I only paid £91 for 1000 tablets. The price is the same for Thiroyd or Thyroid S. I can really recommend that website.

Please find all the T4/T3 ratios of the various NDT on here:

His insistence of you seeing an endo can actually work in your favour..... provided you select your endo carefully. You just need to find the right guy....

Best wishes,
