Guest guest
Now, I am living in Minneapolis, Minnesota state, US. My endo is Dr.Salama Samir, from Allina Medical Clinic, Coon Rapids. I dont know much about him. Actually I am new to US (just 6 months since I came here). I had to go thru a lot of learning curve in many other things (like the place, job, driving, living, etc, etc). So I am still new here and do not have much info or courage to explore and try new doctors easily. However my depression drived me to find this endo. He is mainly a diabetician I think. Actually I came to know him thru a general physician near my house, who is also new to me. > > Hi, Thanks for your more detailed reply. Guest guest
I was watching Discovery Health channel a few weeks ago and there was a woman on who went through a sex change. She had been on Testosterone for several years and to be honest, she looked like more of a man that I do. She mentioned that after several years her jaw had actually become more square shaped...like a man. I do think that even if you have past puberty, you can still make changes to your body by getting the correct dose of hormones. Sing MR <m_singaram@...> wrote:Hypo thyroidism - has something to do with hypogonadism? I can understand hypogonadism. But hypothyroidism, and about the thyroid realtions to the hormones and manliness, I am coming to know of late only. Does it mean that hypothyroidism is my real problem? Anyway, I am again asking a lay question - is it possible to change the voice/change the hip bone size? Ridiculous as it may sound, I am just feeling too bad. Guest guest
Hi Just a quick note: You really need a consultant from a US Teaching Hospital. A teaching hospital merely relates to a hospital being attached to a medical school which udertakes teaching of medics and research. Use a Search Engine with your US State and medical school + endocrinology as an example. If you visit http://www.pituitary.org you will also get some help Get back in touch with us to then go further forward. Hope this helps Re: hypo all the way >> >> >> Hi All >> thanks for all the help. >> >> , as you had asked, full information about me is here (sorry >> this is a long post again, since I have to tell all the info so that >> it will be useful for anyone helping me out): >> >> I said I was seeing an endocrinologist for 2 years and now I am >> seeing another one. Guest guest
Hi I changed my endo. The new doc told me to stop the Testo shots used I take biweekly for 6 weeks. He wants to see what my (own) levels are when I am totally devoid of the TRT for 6 weeks. In an intermediate test (after 2 weeks), my Free T level has dropped from 800 to 268. Estradiol has also dropped well from 63 to 16. I have to wait for 4 more weeks for the 6 weeks to get over. I feel quite miserable without the shots. But I am just putting on with all my will. The doc said, after 6 weeks, most probably he will have to put me back on the TRT. But then, he said, shots are not the best way. Gel is the best. And he is going to give that. I also read about gels and looks good, like they dont peak or go down too much, rather help to maintain a balanced level always. But I also read that they are not as powerful as the shots. i.e., they will never give the feeling you get imm. after a shot. This worries me a little. Because, having been on shots for 3 years, even the immediate peak after a shot never gave me a good satisfaction. So what can I expect from the gel? Also some helpful souls pointed me to look for help from teaching/research schools in the endo/genetology discipline from my state (minnesota). I was not able to find a good match, since most research things from UMN in endo area are in diabetes. Any help in this aspect will be helpful to me too. Guest guest
I feel for you every time I was sent to an Endo they did this to me and all they found out was how sick they made me. You never felt great on shots because you did them every other week. Doing this puts you on a roller coaster ride up after the shot and down by the time you get the next one. As for Gels they are not any better then the shots every week as a matter of fact a lot of men are going back on shots every week from the gels I am one of them. Doing the gels is a pain you need to put it on everyday and let it dry then keep from getting it on your wife and kids. It drove my DHT up to high and my E2. I could never get my levels up high enough to feel good the more I took the more my DHT and E2 went up. Seeing an Endo is a waste of money and time they just are not good on TRT. I have seen 7 in the last 21 yrs. and each one took me off my meds to only find out how sick they made me. Go to this link and read Dr. 's TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG Update it is at the bottom of his site for free. I went on this and now feel the best I ever felt in the 21 yrs. I have been on TRT. http://www.allthingsmale.com/ Phil Singaram Murugappan <m_singaram@...> wrote:Hi I changed my endo. Guest guest
I don't understand why doctors still push two weeks between injects... this is a clear case of why, his test levels took a 540 point swing in two week's time... I also don't fully understand your new doc's reasons for wanting to stop all injections... After 3 years of TRT without HCG, i would be surprised if you were able to produce any test at all naturally. Any doctor (endo's especially) should know that your HPT axis is very much supressed from the TRT and long term with out HCG use can and may shut down HPT axis permanently. What your doc will most probably find is that your natural test levels is extremely low and will start you back up on TRT ASAP. All he will have done is put you through misery for 6 weeks. I guess all you can do is shrug it off and do what you can... > > > >> > > > >> Hi, Thanks for your more detailed reply. Guest guest
I second Phil's post on going from gels to shots. Just had my third shot yesterday. Overall, I am not sure I feel better (seem a bit achy and tired lately), but the erection and libido issues have certainly changed. As long as you can do home injections, shots are so much more convenient than gels. I didn't have to plan my life around gel application usually, it was just a part of the normal daily routine, get up, shower, apply gel, wait a few minutes and get dressed. No big deal on weekdays, but weekends, it was inconvenient. I'd have to wait unitl later in the morning on Saturdays to apply (who rises early and showers on Saturday...LOL) and on Sundays I work out, so shower, apply, workout, shower again, or what? Dr 's said in the past as long as the gel was on at least an hour it wasn't too big an issue to shower or sweat, and I believe the manufacuturer says something similar if it's not routine. Shots, the big drawback for me is I feel like I am being less proactive...18 months of daily gel application down to one shot per week? 6 days per week I feel like I am not doing anything about the low T. I'll adjust though. First shot, I think I went to low on the lateral thigh (definitely in the right muscle, but just too close to the low end of it, and it was a full 1cc), so it hurt like heck and I bruised a little...second shot, I went higher up the leg, and it hurt a bit for a few days, but not nearly so much. Shot I gave myself yesterday seems like a really good location in the lateral thigh...no residual pain unless I rub hard at the injection site. > Re: Re: hypo all the way > > >I feel for you every time I was sent to an Endo they did this >to me and all they found out was how sick they made me. Guest guest
Dave thank you for your post. I have graduated from gel to cream. The cream delivers the 20 gram dose i need now. Dec 1 I will have labs. I am hopeful but I don't feel any different. I'm taking my frustration out in exercise and eating right. Hopefully I will have a talk with the birds and the bees again but no messages from them yet. Guest guest
It is amazing the differences you hear, some folks prefer gels, some shots. I am a fan of shots. It is ironic you say you level off more with gel. I find just the opposite true with IM. Ron Singaram Murugappan <m_singaram@...> wrote: Hi I changed my endo. Guest guest
I feel if you can get your Dr. to work with Dr. you will get the best in the world and if he can't get you better no one will. Phil Singaram Murugappan <m_singaram@...> wrote: Guys thanks for all the info. Nice to see there is atleast someone who listens to your voice. The doctors never do it, atleast not to the least of my satisfaction. Now people, I understand shot to gel is not going to get me any big change, if at all. But I dont know what to do. Without the endo's guidance or prescription, what the hell I am going to do. As you say Phil, more help from the endos only brings more misery. But not sure where to turn to too. I read thru Dr.'s site and even exchanged mails with him. I am checking my insurance things and if it is fine, will have to get help from him. Now, as I said, after a long spell of treatment for hypo, I still feel where I started. So I am feeling paranoid, whether any thing better will happen at all, no matter who I see. Something works for some, if not something else. But my case seems to be peculiar....no improvement at all. Anyone come across this kind of thing, no big change for a long time? Also, one last question, if anyone has any info on it. Voice - my voice, though is high. And that gives me all the social anxiety that I can ask for. With 3 years of TRT, it has not changed, and I have not found any thing related to this at all in the internet or anywhere. Guess most people do not have this problem. But if anyone knows, pl throw some light. > >> > >> > >> > >> Hi, Thanks for your more detailed reply. Guest guest
Hi Alb I am 35. Married, and have a son. Did not have to take any treatment for having a son. But I had gynecomastia long back, removed thru surgery. Did not come back. After sometime, I got sceptic about my test levels, cos not much facial hair, high voice, low libido, whatever. Started active TRT (shots) 3 years back and I was on it continuosly. Cypionate - 200mg every other week. Changed 3 endos meanwhile. Never felt great, except very very occasionally, when immediately after a shot. That too was seldom, not always every shot. And even that high was not great anytime. My voice, as I said, has always been high. Never changed. My earlier endos said there is no hope on that at all. But I read messages that say voice does deepend with TRT. So I was wondering whether the T or any other hormone levels got anything to do with it at all. After long spell of TRT, my T levels rocketed to 1300+ (from below normal), free T to 800+, E to 60+. Now I am on fasting! My endo has asked me to give a break for 6 weeks to see what happens, and on an intermediate test, the T had dropped to 260+ and E to 16. However, even when on the highest levels, I never felt better. So was wondering whether my problem could be quite peculiar. I am not getting any positive info from my doctors. Only this site helps me. Please shed some light. I am also planning to get into Dr.'s treatment. > > >Also, one last question, if anyone has any info on it. Voice - my > >voice, though is high. Guest guest
Hi my source of T was shots, 200mg, every other week. I did know a little about arimidix and assocaited things, so I told my doctor why not try an E suppressant. He said he cannot. Then I said I read about arimidix, etc and why not give that to me. He said 'to my knowledge, there is nothing like an E suppressant'. F********** I felt I just wanted to kill him. Bcos more than annoying me with that answer, he wanted me to leave imm, cos his appointment time was over. Thats why I changed the endo. Now I started seeing the new endo 2 months back. After two weeks and a test, he has asked me to stop all treatment (the 200mg T every other week) totally for 6 weeks. Then he will test what my levels are and then decide how to go about it. 'cos he wants to know my actual levels. Though I had told him a lot of stories of however I have been the past 35 years. A big misery for the 6 weeks, but since it is a new doctor, and since he talked nice to me atleast, I decided to go along with it. But then, I think I will be swithcing to Dr.. I am reading the docs what phil here has given. Another thing, this new endo said he is going to put me on gel rather than the shots here after. > > >After long spell of TRT, my T levels rocketed to 1300+ (from below > >normal), free T to 800+, E to 60+. This is BS Endo's that do this don't know what they are doing. Tell him you have you old tests and your not going to put your self through this. He will learn nothing and will make you dam sick. I hate that it happens but I think its necessary often. Given 95% of endos and almost all GPs seem incapable of getting all the necessary tests before starting TRT, it's often needed to make up for the oversight. Too many prescribe TRT on deficient information - usually missing E2 levels or determining secondary or primary status. I believe a significant number of men could be treated with Arimidex and DIMM and never need TRT. Others who are secondary could benefit from HCG for example. But not if they're primary. Sometimes too the HPTA can be " reset " or jump started. It sucks to have to go through it but there are plenty of good reasons for a Dr. to order it, particularly where the previous one went off half cocked. - - - - Just another albino black sheep
Guest guest
Well if this was true I would not say what I am saying. You can't find out anything taking one off T meds. Once on them it is to late and God knows how long one would need to be off T meds and go back to were they were before TRT. E2 will go down with T levels when stopping T. Any Dr. that knows about TRT will tell you this. It does not tell one anything but how sick they made them. Read back on men that did this with an Endo and you will see they found nothing. Not all of these things will carry over to other individuals and many things about your situation are unique. These things are not absolute. Take our recent new participant who signed up with 163 reading for E2 combined with his low T. It's conceivable that controlling his E2 could boost his T 300 points and negate the need for TRT. If he quit TRT his E2 might continue as it did before and give the doctor some valuable information. Speaking for me, I'd rather spend a life trying to control E2 than a life on TRT. Similarly someone who's TRT resulted from steroid abuse has some hope of a jump start. If the first Doc didn't try that the first time around the second Doc might be able to still pull it off. Not all hypo-g is the same, and even in cases where the cause and symptoms are the same or similar responses can be different. We owe it to others to couch our words in terms of our experience and beliefs not absolutes. >retrogrouch@... wrote: > On Mon, 21 Nov 2005 12:13:33 -0800 (PST), you wrote: > >>Run don't walk away from this new Dr. all he is going to do is make you dam sick. Guest guest
In my opinion, it is a combination. You have to have the T and the genes. For instance, some nationalities just aren't hairy like asian or native indians. I grew additional body hair but come from a family of people with body hair. On the plus side, most men who have little body hair ususally keep the hair on their heads. So I have hair everywhere except on top - may just have to focus on the positives. Guest guest
Savario I don't shave it I cut it with clippers to about 3/4 of an inch lg. I had very little hair on my body before TRT 21 yrs. ago. Now it is every where in my bed on he floor and a pain in the ass. So once a month I cut it down to 3/4 of an inch. I just want to say that I think that all this shaving of hair is a sign of body dismorphic disorder. Be happy with what you have and stop worrying about what you don't. Life is much too short! Guest guest
Shaving or clipping is really all about the same thing isn't it? To coin a phrase manscaping. Maybe you haven't noticed but there is a trend these days to be smooth, not have any hair at all on any part of the body, so as to please the female portion of the world I guess, who seem to find hair to be disgusting. I for one am against manscaping I am a man not a psuedo-woman. I LOVE ALL THE BODY HAIR THAT I HAVE !!! If I were to get more oh well I would live with it. as for it falling out that is pretty much what hair does whether it is short or long it still falls out. I find a dust buster works wonders! I think maybe the problem is that you never had hair as a young man and so you never knew what it was like to be a man with hair. __________________________________________________

Aesthetic preference is subjective. If some people don't like the way you look, there are others who will. I think part of men's complaints with their own body hair on this forum stems from needing a hairless portion of skin that will better absorb androgel. (Just one reason why a small dab of compounded 10% strength T-gel is better than a handful of 1% androgel.)
Guest guest
Put me there too...hairy as an ape, everywhere, including a beard, EXCEPT the top of the head, which isn't smooth skin, but it's so sparse I crew cut to keep from looking bald. Body hair is a big turn on for some, especially in the gay community, where hairy guys are called " bears " and the hairier the better. Just a matter of taste...or opposites attract, perhaps. > Re: hypo all the way > > >Your on a roll Dan same here I have it all over my body but on >the top of my head. Guest guest
Hey Phil, I hear you on the hair everywhere and being a pain. My ex used to complain about my pet cats getting hair all over the place in the house. I had to kick the cat out for a while, clean like crazy, and then show him how all the hair all over the place was from me, not the cat. Amazing how much I shed. Like I said in an earlier post, I have hair EVERYWHERE...except the palms and soles and forehead. And one weird place on my legs, in the very front of the shins, as if the socks rub it off there. > Re: hypo all the way > > >Savario I don't shave it I cut it with clippers to about 3/4 >of an inch lg. Guest guest
That was always a problem with me, finding a smooth part. OrEon used to shave his inner thigh to apply the gels. My main complaint with body hair is I get too hot...I'm bulit like a polar bear, and it's just too hot in LA for this kind of build. But I will not shave...it itches too much when it comes back. >I think part of men's complaints with their own body hair on this >forum stems from needing a hairless portion of skin that will better >absorb androgel.
