TX is treatment

Its Is interferon and ribavirin Its called combo treatment

I just finished my last shot today

Do you know what geno type you are?

I am a 2 its easier to treat it. treatment for 2s are 24 weeks treat for ones

are usually 48 weeks

1 and 2s are the most commons

Are you considering treatment?

Its takes a long time to die from hep c. Years

Decades

I became anemic

Its from the meds

its a common thing with treatment

It usually goes away after treatment

The people are wonderful here Great support Annita

Yes treatment does have side effects

yes they can make you not feel well

I had a rough time. Many others have none at all I cant handle pain well

It depends on the person

Have u tried tylenol pm to help you sleep

Some do and works

Treatment is an option noone can make you do it its your choice

I treated right away I figured if ive had it for 25 years I had better do

something about it

I did not find out till nov last year I had an 75-80% chance of the treatment

working

So i did it

I had 25 % scaring on my liver

Are you saying your dr failed to inform you that you had hep c six months ago?

Thats not good

Keep us updated ok

seweasy@... wrote:

Thank you so much for your note! I have been unable to sleep all week. Doc

told me Monday, matter of factly. (He had blood test 6 months ago and did not

bother to tell me!) I will print your note as it is first to make any sense to

me. I do not know type yet. Had blood test Monday, results not back yet. Will

call Monday and beg doc for a callback to explain questions I have. He is jsut

a md or do though. They are referring me to a clinic in Fort Worth at county

hospital. I know the docs are very good there. Hope it does not take long to

get in. Is treatment a very optional thing? Because it makes you very sick? I am

scared to take even sudafed for allergies!!! Doc said to call him if I was

gonna take any over counter meds, yeah right, like he will return a call, he

only at my clinic 3 day week.

Tam,

Hi I am Janet, one of the Owners of this group.

Okay let me see if I can answer your questions with the best of my knowledge.

How fast do you die from Hep C- Well each person is a individual-it has to do

with lifestyle, stage of disease and so forth. I know a lady that is 84 years

old. She has Hep C.

She doesn't drink, she doesn't smoke, She eats a very good diet. She is still

going strong.

But she has minimal liver damage from the Hep C.

Like I said it is a individual disease and lifestyle has a lot to do with how

well you do with the disease. Stop drinking any type of alcohol at once.

Treatment is with the combo treatment of interferon, and ribroviran. The drug

companies have their own names for these drugs, but the are basically the same.

One stays in the system a bit longer than the other treatments. Pegasy, stays in

the system 6 to 7 days after the shot.

You ask question need, There is no stupid questions. Only the question that is

unasked.

Tam you will find that this group is eager to help in anyway that we can. Some

through experience and we do research from various sites.

Donna-

Yes. There are no pediatric rheumatologist in AZ. However, we're fortunate to have an adult rheumatologist who focuses a large portion of his practice on children. He is also involved in research specific to children's issues. We're extremely happy with him.

I will also say that I'd be willing to bet there are those who think they're seeing someone who's board certified in pediatric rheumatology, but are wrong. There's definitely a need for more pediatric rheumatologists!

I, too , am working hard on an advocacy level here in KY and we need ped rheumies so, so bad.....everyone here needs to go to www.arthritis.org right now and go to the advocacy section and join us in this fight...I like to think the noisemakers may get heard, so lets make noise gang!!!!

If you live in Arizona, THE ENTIRE STATE, then you do not see a Pediatric Rheumy. There isn't even ONE in the entire state. Some Rheumy see Ped's patients, but they're not pediatric rhuematologists. It's a huge problem, and not just for Arizona, many other states have the same problem.

It's actually part of the new Arthritis Foundation Advocacy plan, to find, and train new Ped's rhuemy's. Last I heard there are 8 new graduates each year in the entire US that go Ped's Rhuemy... but of that 8, 6 return to their original home country, NOT the US.

-----Original Message-----From: ajaoky@... [mailto:ajaoky@...] Sent: Monday, August 22, 2005 10:26 AM Subject: just wondering

I am sitting here getting together a list of all rheumatologist for the state of KY and have come to realize that many of the missing children we cant seem to find for our AJAO-KY mailings are being seen by adult rheumatologist. Curiousity has the best of me...is there anyone on the list whose child does not go to a pediatric rheumatologists or any young adults who did not see a pediatric rheumatologists?

Thanks gang!

Hi Misty I am Deborah F. I think everyone on this site has had their

lap-band done by Dr. Aceves and I have not heard one complaint yet. I

thought the experience was wonderful. I am very glad I did it. I was

banded on August 6, 2005, that is 2 weeks 3 days ago, and I am down 17

lbs. I feel like I am starting my life over. I started out at 250. I

have never been able to loose that much weight that fast, but with the

band I know I will not be able to gain it back, I know this time I will

succeed. I don't know if you have tried dieting, but I have tried

almost everything. My problem was when I eat most of the time I never

get full, unless I go to a buffet. But with the band I have been

getting that feeling, and so far I am not as hungry as I was. I know

it cost me a lot of money but, I also look at the health benefits and I

want to have energy again, I want to be able to play with my kids

instead of just watching them. If you don't mind me asking how much do

you weigh.

Did you apply for financing I don't have good credit and they

approved me for $5,200.

I am 25. When I went for my surgery they seemed so surprised to see

a young person getting it done. I too started to gain weight when I

was 13. My mother had knee surgery and adult onset diabetes, so she

helped me out with the money because she said she does not want me to

have the same problems.

I live in Louisiana. How about you?

What I thought about doing before I had the money available to me was

trying to apply for 2 loans but for more months. Just keep praying.

You still have a while until your wedding. Have you tried asking

family or friends if maybe they could loan you the money or maybe

someone could cosign for you a larger loan. When I get too worried

about something not being able to happen when I want it to I just

figure that God is waiting for the right moment. Try to put some

money aside each week. You might have to give certain things up to

get what you want, like going to the movies or eating out. Good

luck. I think it is worth the sacrifice. My dream is to fit regular

sized clothing, something I have not done since junior high.

There a few other cosmetic financing places on the net. Just do a

search. Try places around you like citifinancial or the bank you do

business at. For a personal unsecured loan they don't usually loan

that large of an amount but they might loan you a few thousand.

Someone else might have a suggestion.

Hi Misty my name is Tameka and I live in Florida I understand where your coming from as far as the money and finacing. When Deborah says save or go without thats what Im doing till next year 1. Im not buying clothes because Im going to lose weight 2. no eating out because its a waste of money and I should train myself now to eat correctly. 3. No extra Christmas gifts for noone this year 4. I will take every dime from my income tax return and put it towards my surgery where theres a will there is away and putting to practice being cheap and have already discovered I can save quite a bit if I really want to, but I know the feeling its diffcult to save when your bills sometimes outweight your income. I feel you and you can do it Misty Hoyle <mistylynne4u@...> wrote:

Donna,

You have me wondering too. Az don't have a Ped Rhuemy. There's many states which don't have a Ped Rhuemy. Georgia has 3 that I know of Vogler, Gibbas, and Jerath. With these 3 they do all of Ga and also see other kid's who are out of state. These Dr's travel around to see kid's in the State. I assume if your a child in many States you see a Adult Rhuemy or none at all. This may be the reason so many kid's are miss diagnosed. There could be more kid's with JRA related illnesses than we really know about. Look in the phone book under Physicans. The list is long. Look under Ped rhuemy. You might find 1 if that. Look under Rhuematologist and you see several. Under this you might see a Doctor with advertisement stating also treat children. Just is mind boggling. The Medical board should see a need for more Ped Rhuemys and give a incentive for those who want to go into this area of Medicine.
