That's true. From what I've always read, there is no cure for anxiety or

depression.

I have been on Lexapro for 24 days. I wish it would help my anxiety

more. I also get really tense at work. I feel as though my back and

neck are in a knot. I am giving it more time.. like everyone has

suggested. I have Xanax for when I REALLY need it. I took a half of

a .5 last night for relaxation and it knocked me out.

Well, that's good that you're going to give it a little more time, because

it does take a little while to really get in to your system.

I hope it works for you.

I hate Xanax. Its a bad drug, in many people it causes anxiety well after you

take it. Id stay away from it.

I got seriously addicted to Xanax, because it stopped working after awhile

and I kept taking it more often. I ended up in rehab to detox myself from

it. If I were you, I'd stay away from it.

I love Xanax (Alprazolam). Still on the same dosage I was on 3 years ago. I have

agoraphobia/anxiety and this med has give n me half my life back. I am able to

do so many things alone without having my husband (and support person) with me

everytime I go out the door, it has also helped my OCD and my constant worrying,

I am so much more relaxed. believe me, this is the 1st prescription med I have

ever taken in my life and am ever so grateful for it. Four years on it and i am

not addicted. I have never heard of anyone getting addicted to this med, Im sure

it can happen, but it hasnt happened with me. Dont be so quick to bash a

medication, everyone is different.

I don't like it, because it's addictive.

I wouldn't say that he was bashing the medication, I believe he was just

stating his opinion. What's wrong with that?

Different people experience different things when it com to medication.

Benzodiazepines (xanax, klonopin, valium, ativan, etc.) can be

addictive, but for many people these drugs are very helpful in coping

with everyday life. You say you're not addicted, but if you've been

taking it regularly for as long as you say, and you tried to quit cold

turkey, I'm willing to bet you'd have some problems. I work as a

pharmacy tech, and I've seen many people who say they are not addicted

to their clonazepam and alprazolam, but then freak out when I tell

them it's too soon for them to get a refill.

Any controlled substance has the potential for addiction and abuse,

that's why they're classified " controlled " . Benzos are C-IV, with low

abuse potential (as opposed to oxycontin and percocet, C-II, high

abuse potential).

Pharmacy lesson over now.

Hi, I'm Edith and I'm not sure if I've said hi to everyone yet. I

take XanaxXR, 1mg daily since 88. I've had drs try to take me off

cold turkey with bad results. I've been up to 3 mg reg xanax daily

and have managed on 1/2 mg daily at times. It seems that I am one

that needs that little bit. Sometimes I have to have my husband take

all my meds away from me because I have used extra to sleep at times.

What does low abuse potential mean? That it is not a drug of choice

for abuse? Thanks for the info. Edith

Iy is good to know there is another out there that Xanax works for.

I was beginning to think I was the only one who ever had positive

results. Edith

Many do. Im a med transcriptionist and I do a lot more pro reports on benzos

than cons. Dont listen to people who love to put down benzos, as I said, I got

half my life back, now its time to try the Lexapro to hopefully get back the

rest of it.

Thanks!

I take 2.5 mg per day. I may or may not be " addicted " and frankly I

don't care. They do their job and that's all I care about. As long as

they work and I can get them, I will continue to take them!

I *do* think you're joking a little there, eh? :-\

I don't know. It wouldn't be fare for me to guess on something like that. As

I said, everyone is different. While some might be addicted to a certain

medication, others might not experience that.

Joking?

Hardly.

I am serious. I don't want to rely on something forever.

Yes my dosage may be small..but they nearly knock me out.
