Welcome. It's time to start doing some homework. Look up the AACE

guidelines in the files section. Check out a copy of Shippen's book,

Testosterone Syndrome, and visit allthings male.com and read around.

You're going to find most all docs are fairly ignorant on this

condition and you will have to fend for yourself and carefully educate

your doctor to get truly well and to get the treatment you need.

Has you doctor ordered a prolactin test, ferritn test,E2 test and FSH

and LH tests? All of these should have been done BEFORE you started

taking Androgel.

HI and welcome if you need to know anything just ask. You will need to be

tested in 2 weeks to be sure the gel works for you. And to see if you need to

do more of it.

You shouldn't be starting TRT until these basic tests are done. He has

not tried to determine the cause of your low T. It could be high iron

(ferritin test) in which case you need to address that and TRT would

likely be unnecessary - if caught soon enough. You could have high

prolactin, from a small pituitary tumor. This is always a first check.

Similarly high E2 could be lowered to increase your T if it is very

high.

FSH and LH are tested to see how the pituitary is acting in the T

formation cycle.

If you don't do these tests to begin with you're 1. missing possible

causes that TRT will not address, 2. will likely end up in front of an

endo later who will tell you you need to stop TRT for 2 or 3 months so

they can get " normal " baseline pre-TRT numbers for some of these

measures.

Look in the file section of this group and read the AACE guidelines

and get them to your doctor.

Welcome aboard. You'll learn an awful lot on this board. Also, check

out the www.allthingsmale.com website for some great info from a leader

I feel this is way to long things can go wrong you blood count for one you

levels not going high enough. You body on Androgel will stop making T and

doing the gel you can end up lower then you were before you started on the gel.

Read the insert that comes with the androgel and then call your Dr. and tell him

you need to be tested sooner.

I agree. i was tested two weeks after initial dosage. When the tests came back

the T Skyrocketed off the normal range. then i had to be off the T for a time

and I was ut on half the dose. Labs came back fine.

Beth I missed your post introducing yourself and I am sorry. I am just a

regular member but yes there are day's when getting out of bed is just to

much. I have spent many days in bed but am doing better now because the doctors

have finally gotten me on a dose of meds that work for me.

This disease is so contrary that what works for one person doesn't always

work for another. You will find we all have different stages of this disease and

different ways of dealing with it.

When I was first diagnosed I had many questions so please feel free to ask

anything.

Hi Lilly,

Well I did not start out to get rid of Candida, or leaky gut, which is

probably good because I see so many people fail when they do this. I was

determined to stop getting sick every month and I was really tired of living

on ANtibiotics. I had late state lyme and just was horribly sick all the

time. I started researching everything I could on building the immune system

I tried everything I could afford and lots of it. I did start to help some

of my symptoms like my allergies and asthma, but some other symptoms were

still there and some were getting worse. I never got discouraged because I

was not willing to go back to the doctors and so I just kept on working at

it. I was also getting pretty educated during this time about better diet

and all. I have never eaten fruit and never been a sweet eater so it was not

necessary to eliminate those things. I was however a carb freak and I did

not eliminate those things until after I got better. At this current time I

eat all organics, meat, vegies, some sprouted grains, coconut oil, olive oil

are the two oils I use. I take around $250.00 per month worth of supplements

including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fish oil, pro-biotics, enzymes,

glyconutrients, phytonutrients, hormonal support. This is a permanent

lifestyle for me and I feel great.

Hi Lilly,

I have not done her diet, I have heard a few that got worse, on her diet. I

just use common sense eating practices and try to keep it simple.

Dear Curtis,

Some people have the ability to rise above their disabilities. Unfortunatly,

I am not one of them. If, I am unable to become pain free and have a life that

I feel is worth living, then I will wait until my two sons finish college to

just " disappear " .

Thanks for your reply

Hello, I’m new to the group and just wanted to introduce myself.

My family was forever changed a couple years ago when we lost my

Aunt Connie to breast cancer. At the time, I believed that

the doctors were on top of everything and put my faith in the

medical system.

After much reading and late nights on the computer,

I am convinced that if I had taken more responsibility

of her health, we might have had a different outcome. It saddens

me how much information is kept hidden to the public about

this horrible disease. I have learned how diet, stress and

your environment play a major role in the risk

associated with cancer. As a result, my family and I try to

eat organic foods and use fewer chemicals. We are more aware

of our environment and health but still have a long way to go.

There is just so much to learn but we are making progress. I am

glad to have found a group of individuals that are open

to alternative medicines and treatments as well as sharing ideas.

I wish I knew about this groups a couple years ago. Anyway,

there are a few books that I have really enjoyed and thought

that I would share them with you. They are by S. Epstein

and you can find them on his website www.preventcancer.com.

If you have any suggestions regarding books or websites that

are interesting, please let me know. Thanks again,

Betheney

Welcome to the group. I'm sorry that you are going through such a bad time,
