Will tell Helena. The program is on R.T.E. television to-morrow at 9.30

P.M. Prime Time. Sounds like it is going to be good. Helena and myself

were protesting last Tuesday and Wednesday with a few other groups.

You'll do fine Amy!! Congrats on starting your new lifestyle! Keep us posted!

TOMORROW

Tomorrow is the first day of changing my lifestyle!!! I am so excited. I went grocery shipping...found myself alot of fat free things. I notice some of you girls are counting calories too...which has me worried...since i don't count anything but fat grams. But we will see how i do. I am going to write down how much fat i consume and how much water a drink. Wish me luck girls...i PLAN to tell you all this time next week that i lost SOMETHING. LOL. Better be pounds and NOT confidence...lol. Love, Amy xoxo Just for Today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle mywhole life problem at once. I can do something for twelve hours that wouldappall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime. ~~ Ruth -Bourdon 100-Plus Files page 100-plus/files100-Plus Links page 100-plus/links

Personally I couldn't count fat grams because I could eat very low fat and

still consume too many calories. Some fat free products have the same

calories as regular products and more sugar. Just see how it goes and see

if it works for you. We are all different and we have to find our own path

to fitness.

Hi ,

There is absolutely no point in seeing an endo if you are not going to be totally honest with him. You may be lucky like me & end up getting your hc from your GP on NHS prescription - this happened after seeing the endo & him writing to the GP.

If he tells you to get a bracelet, where is the problem in this? I wear mine everyday now & it is just part of getting dressed for me, so get one you like without a big dangly bit.

Val

I need to be brave and tell him I take HC and the reasons why and I have stopped thyroid meds for the time being.I had to say what meds I took at the hospital last night and actually take them in with me, the doctor that I spoke to said that might cause the endo some problems! He seemed to think once you start HC its a life long thing and mentioned the steriod bracelets.

I do intend being honest with him, I have no intention of not being, I feel I need the backing of the NHS and will probably feel better with their support anyway, whatever peoples opinions are of the NHS I cant rule them out of all this, we all need them in one way or another and I realised that on Monday night, the HC alone though Val isnt making me well

I have actually wondered about wearing a bracelet to say that I take Armour (natural thyroid extract) so that if I am every admitted to hospital and not able to let them know, they will continue to get Armour for me. I would just become so ill again if they put me back on L-thyroxine.

However, be realistic too in that you might not be able to get the NHS to see things from your point of view, and they might well discourage you from doing what you are. This is the reason so many people within the NHS remain ill and they need to seek thyroid specialists outside of the NHS. However much we might think that we need them, for many of us, we have learned that we don't. The HC alone will not make you well when you are hypothyroid, but you need to get those adrenals fixed first before starting your T4 again.

However, having said all of that, I sincerely hope you come back after your appointment with some excellent news and recommendations from your NHS endocrinologist. Who knows, we might actually need to add him to our list of good doctors.

Luv - Sheila

That's one of the reasons I am joining the British Thyroid

Foundation, you can actually obtain some kind of ID tag for this

purpose but I can't remember where I read this. (Brain fog)

Hi ,

It is just one part of the jigsaw of things. I have found a tremendous increase in my energy & wellbeing the last few weeks ( & have not had an off day for 2.5 weeks) since starting the fatigued to fantasic powder & his vit b capsules (which are part of the pack). Before then I was very up & down, but never had the energy of now ever, and had lots of days when I would do absolutely nothing because I did not have the energy to do anything. My brain fog has also got almost better, and I only get it very occasionally now.

http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1 & pid=2176

I was already on loads on supplements & did not expect any difference from this as it doubles up on lots, but have been amazed. The only other thing I changed at the same time was swallowing my armour rather than taking it sublingually.

Val

the HC alone though Val isnt making me well

There are 4 lines of text on mine, so plenty of room. I have got: Cortisol Deficient, Hydrocortisone Dependant, Hypothyroid - 3gr Armour, 50mcg Levothyroxine.

You don't need to join the BTF to get a tag or bracelet, you choose what you want from various sites on the web. Have a look here, for instance@ http://uk.dir./Business_and_Economy/Shopping_and_Services/Health/Medical_Alert_Jewellery/

Good luck enjoy the journey... It is not always the end that we need to focus on. The journey is when we see the blessings. The non scale victories. I am a year and 5 months out and i am just now begining to tell people what i did. I told only a few close friends. I didn't even tell my mother before surgery. Because she is deathly afraid of MX. I didn't want her to worry her... The journey is to be enjoyed even when the bumps in the road occurs. you are in great hands...
