Mine never took more than one of each enzyme with any meal- and that was at 102

lbs. You may want to cut back and see if he improves.

Reactions starting

Hi all: I think the honeymoon period is over for . Started out

slowing with enzymes. (i think slowly, about 2 1/2 weeks in) did not

see any negative reactions really. Up to 2 pep & pz breakfast and

dinner. 1 pep and pz lunch and 1/2 NF breakfast only as this seems

to keep him up at night if given with dinner. Up to 2 candex am and

pm. Yesterday the aggression started, (somewhat provoked) as I have

said his OCD is really bad and he has a thing about the blinds being

opened and closed at certain times of the day 5:30 am (even on

weekends, and everyones not just his) and 3:00 afternoons. I have

tried reasoning with him and have just let it go, but yesterday was

such a beautiful day that I wanted to make sure the blinds stayed

open so the standoff began. He got quite aggressive and ended up in

a Tantrum that resulted in a headache and bed for him. He just cant

get himself out of the tantrum once it starts. So today I didnt

push it with him and he came home from school laughing and in

minutes was loud and growling and demanding. So as I said I think

the honeymoon is over and the reactions have started. I am still

waiting for the Culturelle which should be here any day. I am

looking into the broad spectrum vitamin and minerals but have been

told he would need approximately 7 tsp each meal which comes out to

about 3 shipments a month of Spectrum II for his size. Not ruling

that out but that seems like so much. Ill keep you informed. Eileen

If you are giving 1/2 No-Fenol once a day, and have added 2 capsules

Candex twice a day, I would consider cutting back on something here.

I would also consider working out the enzyme dose before adding

another supplement.

For the tantrums, the book " The Explosive Child " by Ross Greene,

Ph.D. might be helpful when biomedicalapproaches are not. The book

is geared toward parents of inflexible children. It is a different

approach than most of us are used to, but as some children get older,

typical methods of discipline (such as Time-Out) are not always the

best way. I have found it to be a helpful resource. You can read

reviews at www.amazon.com. Dr. Greene's site is

I think this is the way Im going to go. I will be cutting back on the Candex

for sure as the reaction seems to have started with this increase. The No

Fenol also seems to be a bit of a problem so I think I may stop this until

he's been on the PEP and PZ longer. He is not on any diet restrictions so I

believe the 2 PEP and 2 PZ is what I was supposed to be shooting for. I

appreciate all the input, I can use all the help I can get. Thank you

Eileen

Also I was just reading up on the bacteria in a book (title escapes me right

now) and it was talking about Culturelle being used to treat an overgrowth

of bacteria. Should I even be using the Candex if I want to use the

Culturelle. I thought I recd a posting awhile back about using both. I am

getting a little confused.

The first time I read your post, I missed that you are just 2 1/2

weeks into using the enzymes. Your son may be going through some

peptide withdrawal syndrome, especially since he is not GFCF. If it

is withdrawal, you may have some more difficult days until things get

better. You can cut back on the Peptizyde and go back up gradually.

I think I'd try to get him used to a smaller amount of the enzymes

with all meals before moving to the larger dose you are at (Pep and

ZP). If you still have problems, post again because some further

tweaking of the dose or type of enzymes might be needed.

I don't know what Culturelle says about giving their product with

enzymes, but some companies believe it is fine to give enzymes and

probiotics together. If you are wondering if both are needed -

you'll just have to try them seperately and together for comparison.

It took a long time to find the best way for my son to take

probiotics - he can take a 1/2 capsule of his probiotic once every

few days.
