Gwyneth Learned A Lot From Fat Suit

This is interesting, I dont agree with the premise of the movie. I

wonder if Gwyneth will still look down her thin nose at the M.O. If

people only knew the pain of being obese and being ridiculed and

looked over.....ah hell they don't care. Wouldn't it be great if

people could live and let live?

NEW YORK (AP) - Gwyneth Paltrow learned a lot about beauty by wearing

a fat suit.

The tall, leggy actress plays an obese woman in the upcoming Farrelly

brothers' movie ``Shallow Hal.'' It took three hours to put on the

suit and an hour to take it off.

``The first day I tried it on, I was in the Tribeca Grand, and I

walked through the lobby,'' the 28-year-old told W magazine for its

September issue. ``It was so sad; it was so disturbing. No one would

make eye contact with me because I was obese.

``I was wearing this black shirt with big snowmen on it. For some

reason, the fat clothes they make ...'' Paltrow stops to correct

herself. ``The clothes they make for women that are overweight are

horrible. I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive.''

``Shallow Hal,'' co-starring Jack Black as a man who's hypnotized and

sees Paltrow's character as a thin, beautiful woman, is scheduled to

open Nov. 9.

Wouldn't it be great if MO was a suit you could take off and burn! I guess

surgery is the closest

thing.

BTW, I have to agree with Gwyneth about the clothes. Some of the clothes I see

in large-size

catalogs are awful-looking and they don't have to be. I never have been able to

figure that out

other than the fact that the good-looking large-size clothes are hellishly

expensive! If it weren't for

jeans and sweatshirts, I don't know what I'd do...polyester is against my

religion! :)

But ya know...when I was a teen there was no cool clothing for a teen that

was overweight. I have to say its nice that they can pick things from

somewhere that are in style...even if many of us are to old to wear it. I've

decided to not shop there because of it...but someone has to sell for the

younger crowd. There are many other good places....I can't wait however to

fit into the sizes in the womens depts at the Bon, Penneys, etc. No more

speciality shops!!

Yes, I think 's Secret would be nice but I would just settle for a

pair of panties that don't look like I am waving the flag of Japan when I

hold them up. You know, something petite.

The selection of plus sized clothing is appaling. You either have

to buy the polyster(I'd like to kick whoever invented polyester) or

wear the questionable Lane and clothes. What is wrong with

Lane and do they think that every plus sized person is 17

and unemployed. Most of their clothing couldn't be worn in a

proffesional environment. And the rainbow colors are scary!! Just

my 2 cents.

That, and they think that all fat people are 5'8 " or taller!! Most of their

skirts and dresses are floor-length on me!

Well as someone who was young and bigger I was glad for Lane because all

the catalogs only had polyster clothes that were a little to mature for me. I

will agree on one thing after you are done kicking him I would also like to kick

Mr. Polyster!

I like LB for the simple things: jeans, cotton shirts, underwear

($$$$, though). I can just go in and buy and not have to hassle

with the dressing room. :) Their stuff has gotten better over the

years, at least in the store. The catalog is still scary sometimes.

I heard that they were recently acquired by another " plus size "

clothing chain...I wonder what'll happen now? Hopefully, I won't

have to worry about it in a year...

BTW, I'm sure Mr. Polyester was a Mr....and he's probably the

same evil bastard who is responsible for pantyhose. Kick on!

OMG you just reminded me I love the LB underwear and they have some nice stuff

plus your " everyday basics " I know it was Mr. Polyster because women would never

admit to inventing that hideous unflattering fabric. As for pantyhose it was

invented by the Marquis de Sade

AJ.......I do that now! I just recently bought medium and large tops at the

Bon, and crazy horse clothes at JC Penneys and Mac makeup at Nordstroms! I

bought bib overalls and bib shorts....I can even fit into some size 12

shorts now as long as they have elastic waist!! Its absolutly liberating to

walk -past the fat ladies clothes and not have to look back!!! You will get

there sooner than you think!

Hugs, Judie
