Just make sure they don't have caffeine, which is a diuretic... :)

Now I've heard that things with caffeine are not that much of a diuretic to make

much of a difference... <sigh> someday the medical community will hopefully

all agree on things....

Dr Welker told us to stay away from diet drinks with neutrasweet and

caffeine in them. I thought I would never be able to function without my

colas but since I have cut them out and havent had any diet foods at all

since last Nov I find that I crave water ( I was NOT a water drinker before

surgery) and do not care generally for beverages that are not water! As for

the caffeine, Dr W thinks the caffeine makes you want to eat more...same

with the diet drinks and the stuff in it.

I used to laugh every time we went out for fast foods how the obese

(inlcuding myself) would order a whopper with bacon and cheese, fries, apple

pie and a diet coke! LOL As if that " diet coke " could cancel out the other

foods I ate!!

I am must be weird because I have always hated diet soda and could never drink

it. And that was a double whopper with bacon and cheese large fries apple pie

and super gonzo gulp coke please to go and make it snappy pappy!

Now its more like a nugget and half -of a fry my nephew has chewed on and a sip

a water and I am good to go!

Funny cuz I dont miss fast food. But I will admit that lately I have had the

strongest cravings for caviar on some toast points with some creme fraiche. Its

almost like now that my stomach is small I have turned into a food snob! Yikes!

I love regular lemonade even now...but I hate to

drink all that sugar...there just has to be a better product>>>>

try splenda in lemonade instead of sugar.....absolutly no bitter after

taste!

And the crystal light lemonade is soooo gross! Had that before my sugery

and couldnt stand the taste!

but give splenda a try with the real thing.......

Judie and AJ,

I realize I'm really begining to look like the naughty child here,

but not only do I drink regular pop on a limited basis, but its

caffinated. Dr Hess didnt say to avoid caffeine, either that or I

wasnt paying attention. I'm perfectly well hydrated, and this week

was a 5lb loss. BTW, I also dring a litre of Aquafina water daily

too. To each his own, I guess, I just choose to live a little.

AJ, it depends on the position of your body during consumption. All

foods eaten while standing are calorie free.... LOL, Meli

Meli,

if it works for you dont worry about it! Id rather drink the sugar stuff

than that nasty stuff any day. But I didnt develop a taste after surgery

for anything but water so I keep that to a minimum.

Knowing you eat pretty much like I do ala Kris.......that can of sugar pop

isnt going to hurt you as evidenced by your losses!

I do remember wanting to eat alot more, more often when ingesting caffeine

products so I avoid them. You obviously drink plenty of water too and that

is good!

Remember, my husband eats donuts to break his plateaus LOL

Hugs, Judie =)

The packaging ought not to determine response to content. The very

best con artists make certain not to raise your hackles with their

presentation. Valid information can come in strange packaging. Best

to ignore that and look for scientific evidence to support/refute the

claims.

The inhibition of ADH with caffeine ought not to cause a major

problem and increase dehydration. Personally I like caffeine. In

fact I want an implanted caffiene pump.

of course caffeine wakes you up! lol it also makes me crave eating alot

more than I would if I didnt drink it.....my oldest daughter was so addicted

to caffeine in the pop that she was drinking 6- 8 per day and eating alot

too! Now that she hasnt had any for 6 weeks she is no longer eating like

she used to.

Maybe it doesnt affect you that way but it does for a vast majority.
