Pam,

I live in Solsberry, a little town near Bloomington. Our trip to St Louis is

about 4 to 41/2 hours but that is with several stops because Mollie gets

frustrated in her carseat and cries to get out and be fed.

Are you in Bloomington? Dr. Moseman is a wonderful doctor, but I am sure he

doesn't get many clubfoot kids. I think he usually gets athletic injuries if it

is the same guy. I grew up in Bedford and know him and Dr. Fox. I went to

Moseman when I was younger for one of my knees. Just wondered if it was the

same guy. You are very lucky in the Dr. you were sent to. Good luck with

everything!

Re: Re: new member

Actually, Dr. Moseman had told me he wanted to send Mollie to the Shriners

because " she needs surgery " so that is what I was expecting (glad he was wrong).

Where it gets even worse is that he told me that he trained at the Shriners

hospitals (so I thought he knew what he was talking about) AND he said he

recommeds Lexington over St Louis because ( I quote word for word here) " The

main DR at St Louis is arrogant and condecending and talks down to everyone.

He's not that superior of a surgoen to have that attitude " It just turns out

that my local Shriner chapter sent my application to St louis because

unfortunaly I just assumed he knew what he was talking about.

am also pleasantly surprised that your original ortho admitted he

I think we live about the same distance away from St. Louis--just in

a little different direction! We started seeing Dr. Dobbs when

was 2 weeks old. He turned 4 on Friday and he got to stop wearing

his DBB. I can't believe this much time has passed. In the very

beginning it seems so overwhelming, but when you look back you think,

hey, that wasn't so bad! We live in Hanson, KY. I have a friend who

lives in Bloomington who was originally from here (her name is

Chera). Good luck!

Pam,

Thank you and congrats on getting out of the brace. Will you

continue to go to Dr Dobbs for checkups? How often? Do youi still

have to do the streching exercises?

Yes, our next appointment is 6 months after he gets out of the brace

and we just call earlier if we notice any change at all. We are

doing the stretches some to help us to notice if there is any change

in dorsiflexion. We actually haven't been to St. Louis in three

months so we actually have 9 months in betweeen appointment times.

That is the longest we have ever gone without making a trip there.

It has been worth EVERY mile though!

Nice. Perhaps he just doesn't get on with this doc? I kind of assume it's

Dr. Dobbs he's referring to but maybe it's another doc there? Or perhaps

if he feels Mollie needs surgery at this point he hasn't really *got* the

Ponseti Method and whoever is talking down to him there is really trying to

prove a point about the Method? Who knows... but by all accounts from

parents... Dr. Dobbs is one of the best of the best and really cares for

these babies. If this is referring to Dr. Dobbs, it really doesn't matter

how he deals with other surgeons... what matters is his ability to treat

your child's feet.
