Chrystal,

I'm so glad to hear that good things are happening for you as far as medical

care. You know that I completely understand how frustrating this can be and how

much of a load is lifted once someone listens to you and does something to make

it better for you. It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to get

those brochures out.

Good News

Well today I spoke with the head of patient relations at my hospital. I again

explained how I was not receiving the best medical care they had to offer and

that in fact I was promised better medical care than I would receive from a

regular obgyn.

I ran down my list from dirty nasty bathrooms to having to call 3 times to

finally getting an answer as to if a medication was safe to take while pregnant.

I addressed the always being told to go to the ER and then having to pay $75 for

what could have been a regular office visit.

I told her none of this was told to me in the beginning and that they should

have a brochure on what you can expect from Women & Infants hospital as a high

risk pregnancy patient and what to do when _________ happens. I said that being

pregnant is stressful enough but when you don't know how you are going to be

treated or what is going to happen it makes it even more scary and stressful.

Her answer - she and her department are going to immediately work on 2

brochures on what to expect from the High Risk Pregnancy Department and a kind

of flow chart of what to do in this or that situation. She said it would be

done immediately and sent to all their current and new patients.

I am happy that I made a difference.

I also will have a new doctor. I am going to be seeing the head of the high

risk pregnancy department. She promised that if I call and have a problem it

will be taken care of on the phone or in his office and unless its an actual

emergency I will not have to go to the ER.

Yippppppeeee!

So I am happy today. Thanks for letting me share.

Congratulations, Maloy! You must be so excited. Does Tori

understand at all what is going on? Now she is going to have her

own baby doll to play with. This one will be more work than her toy

ones, though. What fun!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! Yes, I am yelling with happiness for you. Too bad

there is no way for docs to have to " experience " this stuff for

themselves. I doubt they would be quite so cavalier if they knew what

patients went through.

So happy for you! Isn't a Mini much better? We had all

sorts of problem that were helped with a Mini.

TechniCare surgical scrub is another thing to keep in

the back of your mind if you have infection problems.

great news Barbara ! good news

Just wanted to post some good news. I do believe the new AMT mini button

that was " installed " last Thursday is the answer to my long-time tube

problems. The pain caused by the old tube and the first Mic-Key button are

gone. Every day my belly feels better and better. I am ecstatic! I can sit

up without tube pain! The pressure sore that had formed under the Mic-Key

button in just 3 weeks of use is quickly healing and the granulation tissue,

new and old, has disappeared. I am so glad I kept searching for answers,

even though it took nearly 3 years to get here. Both surgeons told me that

all tube patients have pain and there's nothing you can do about it. I knew

this was not true from reading the posts in my tubefeeding support group and

that knowledge kept me searching. I learned about the AMT mini button from

members of the tube group and also from here in Mitoldies and then

persuaded my surgeons to let me try it. While it may not be the answer for

everyone, it works for me.

Cheers!

Barbara

Oh yes, worlds better! Thank you, thank you! I can't believe how good the

stoma looked this morning. Yes, I did buy a bottle of the TechniCare

surgical scrub that you recommended. As long as my stoma was irritated and

inflamed, the TechniCare just seemed to aggravate the pain for some reason.

But once I get really healthy skin, I suspect it will be a plus. All your

input much appreciated.
