Dear Theresa & All:

The cream I mentioned is for balancing the excess estrogen in the body. Those

women who have bad cramps during their periods are helped and those women

going through the change of life are helped. I use the cream formulated with

the help of Dr. Lee and it is called EssPro 7 from a company called

" Young Living " . Their customer fax is (800)883-9576 - customer service

(801)236-6200- E-Mail custserv@.... Hope this helps.

Some people are following Dr. Lee's protocol - he has several books

on peri-menopausal and menopause. He believes some thyroid problems

are due to the lack or progesterone.

There's a group that is dedicated to discussing this and there

are people with thyroid problems in the group. It's called:

naturalalternativestoHRT .

I've just started using progesterone but haven't really noticed any

difference, but it apparently takes awhile to kick in. It's not an

improved substance here in Canada, so I have to buy it " under the

table " or go down to the states and sneak it up (which many women are

doing!). Buying a quality product is important - there's lots of junk

out there and the group has recommendations about what to buy.

if you are having " bad results " with the cream, it may not have to do with

progesterone---you might need a different thyroid medicine or other

hormones. OR you are using too little or too much, or cream is not absorbed

well. If you tell us what brand it is (does it contain glycerin or mineral

oil?), how much you use, how old are you, what are your symptoms on it, we

may be able to help. Also when first using progesterone you will experience

a lot of estrogen dominant symptoms, which go away. A doc who knows about

hormones is very hard to find.

I have been using a cream that follows the recommendations of Dr. Lee.

Read his book cover to cover. It contains no mineral oil or other substances

that inhibit absorption) I am using 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon on days 12-26.

I have been using it for three months and have not experienced any real relief.

My periods were late by 10 days and now my hair is thinning. If this keeps up I

presume I will be noticeable bald by Christmas. So I have stopped taking it.

I believe hormones work for many women but it is such an individualized thing

its so hard to find what really works for an individual. You are right on the

money about Doctors not knowing too much about hormones. They attribute

EVERYTHING to stress. Last time I tried this form of Hormone Therapy my breasts

swelled to a D cup , just using 1/4 teaspoon. So I discontinued because of

that. Now I rotate the areas where I place the cream and now my breasts did not

swell this time. I take it for extreme PMS but I am finding they possible this

is not the avenue for me.

No I haven't had any testing for it & won't be having any, not from doctors

anyway. Never had the right kind of testing for hypothyroidism either but

have been self-dosing with natural additive-free thyroid.

I was on a natural remedies for hypothyroidism egroup for a while & they

recommended the progesterone cream & to stop taking Rx estrogen which I did

& it helped. But it might be causing some of the rapid

heartbeat/palpitations I get sometimes since I rub it on my chest or face &

throat.

So should I not any hormones at all or other herbal remedies like Dong Quai,

licorice root, etc? What about hot flashes which I have daily? I also am

still taking natural thyroid I order & self-dose myself. But have cut down a

grain since being on the diet as it was too much. The progesterone cream

might be too much too.

But I think the diet will regulate my hormones eventually. At least I trust

it to do so specially after I get onto organic meats & poultry since the

others have hormones in them & other bad stuff. I will stop the progesterone

cream at once then & read Dr. Mercola on that. I search his site often.

Thanx for the warning about that.

Oh...I forgot about the vitamin E & didn't know licorice herb has sugar in

it. I'll put E on my list & get some gel caps today. The hot flashes are

minimal anyway.

I have the Dong Quai, licorice & some others but haven't taken any for over

a 6 months & didn't plan to start again. They never did much for me anyway

to help & cause indigestion too. I will do the vitamin E separately.

Thanx much,

The thing that took care of my hot flashes was cutting out caffeine.....even

decaf and taking coconut oil. If I am low on my coconut oil I will have a hot

flash. I take between 2-3 TBP a day. 3.5 is optimal but some days I just don't

get that in.

I never drink coffee or other caffeinated drinks. Haven't in years. Just

herb teas. So that's not the problem. I'm taking up to 3-4 tablespons of

coconut oil daily but still having mild hot flashes a little, tho not as

much.

Come to think of it, I ran out of coconut oil for a couple of days & had

more & worse hot flashes. Thanx for letting me know of the connection. I

will buy coconut oil by the case after this so I won't be running out of it.

Maybe I need more than 4 Tbsps a day? I wonder.....

Caroline,

Check out www.menoqueen.com. I might have given you this link before.

This woman, Vickie Queen, has Hashimoto's and has overcome systemic

candida as well as numerous other serious health problems. She is a

friend of mine, extremely knowledgeable (I call her a walking

encyclopedia), very helpful and a real sweetie. Be sure to share your

concerns with her based on Dr. Mercola's article.

So is Progeta Care a progrestrone cream or an estrogen cream? Sorry just a

Wings, congrats on your experience with progesterone cream. I noticed

that when I used it the only symptom I had with peri-menopause was

weight gain. I began using it for the weight gain. This article might

explain why I and others gained on the helpful cream.

Did the doctor prescribe it for the cramping or the

depression/moodiness? How old are you? I've been

wondering if I should consider a cream...

The cream I am using is Progesta-Care and it is only progesterone not estrogen.

It has aloe Vera and some evening primrose but no estrogen. According to my

doctor we get plenty of estrogen. I haven't a clue but this is working for me.

I was having excessive bleeding to the point of hemoraging. This is a sign of

low progesterone due to lack of ovulation. Appearently wen a women becomes pre

menopausal, I am 47 and my youngest is 5, her ovulation becomes irregular and

then it signals not to produce progesterone which in turns does not seal the

veins in the uterous when the sluffing off of the lining occurs.

I also had severe cramping and hormone induced depression. I didn't even

realize I had the later. Only when coming out of it did I realize how

overwhelmed I had been feeling. Having five children at home I was a bit to

busy to notice. LOL

I tried the Now Yam type and hated it!! It stank, yam is not my favorite

perfume scent. <w> I only used 3-4 applications and tossed it and purchased the

Life-flo brand. I only use the pump too, the pump is so easy to use and more

accurate. A no brainer way to apply it. www.womenlivingnaturally.com This is

where my doctor went to check out my first phyto progesterone, he was very clear

on only using a natural type. He approved of the ingredients for the Progensa

but the Life Pro is very comparable and cheaper so I switched. The website is

very helpful though and filled with information for women. The different

products and why, when and how applications.

my friend who is 45 was using the progesterone cream for 8 months, she was

gaining more weight,

feeling aweful and was waiting on the cream to work. she went to her doctor and

he told her to

stop the prog cream and gave her estrogen cream and she is a much different

person now. she lost

25 pounds in two months and feels like she is 25 again. so i guess everyone is

different. i could

not get passed 3 days on the prog creams as my head was going to explode!!
