Guest guest
Sounds like you are relocating the mercury to the lymphatic system in your intestinal tract instead of removing it. Are you taking sufficient amounts of sulphur? (MSM). This is one of the places mercury is found in high amounts in the body, the other place is of course the kidneys. Mercury also causes severe food allergies, are you making sure you aren't eating allergens? One other thing, with a steady build up of mercury in the gut, you throw the normal balance off in the intestinal tract and start growing more and more Yeast ( you can also be allergic to the yeast or intestinal bacteria). What about taking Nystatin, this kills yeast just in the IT. One way you would know it was the overgrowth of the yeast is when you take Nystatin you should feel worse initially because of the Herczymer reaction(not sure of spelling here). Consult an experienced chelation doctor though. Glen. DMSA Backfire I have been taking DMSA 2 days a week for several weeks. On the days between treatment my gut is very swollen. Over the weeks it seems to be getting worse. Does anyone know if this problem will improve or should I stop taking DMSA? Elspeth

Guest guest
Elspeth, MSM is a good source of sulphur which is " required " for your body to excrete mercury etc. If you don't have enough, chelation will just move the mercury around without eliminating it from the body. Even DMPS treatment wont work without sufficient sulphur. You can get MSM from any GNC or Vitamin Shoppee. Glen. DMSA Backfire > > > I have been taking DMSA 2 days a week for several weeks. Guest guest
Valentina, MSM (Methyl-sulfonyl-methane) contains the essential mineral sulphur. MSM comprises approximately 34% sulphur. Sulphur is the third most abundant mineral in the body after calcium and phosphorus, accounting for approximately 1% of body weight. The body cannot make sulphur from any other substance and so it must be obtained from food. Sulphur is found in every living cell in the body. It is part of the molecules that form the amino acids (protein building blocks)methionine and cysteine and is thus found in food, including red meat, dairy products, wheat germ, seeds. Other sulphur-containing compounds are contained in high amounts in garlic, and are also present in foods including egg yolks, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, watercress, leek and onions. While it is commonly believed that most people consume enough sulphur from consuming these foods, studies show a multitude of health benefits through supplementing with an additional source of sulphur - MSM. It is well known for example that sulphur baths and injections can be powerful treatments for arthritis. The liver is the main organ of detoxification in the body. Detoxification in the liver consists of various different pathways, one of which is called the sulphation pathway. As the name suggests, this pathway is dependent upon an adequate supply of sulphur. MSM supplementation can thus aid in effective liver detoxification. Sulphur itself also has the capacity to 'latch' on to toxins to facilitate their removal from the body, especially mercury. Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, aluminium and cadmium can have extremely toxic and damaging effects upon many areas of the body. They are also very difficult to remove. Heavy metal removal requires the binding of some compound to the heavy metal before it can be eliminated, a process called chelation. Sulphur is a very effective heavy metal chelator, thus MSM supplementation can be useful during such a detoxification programme. MSM has been shown to help reduce the incidence of allergies to substances including pollen, dust and foods. It is suggested that this may be due to improvements in the liver's sulphation pathway of detoxification. Sulphur may also bind to the mucosal surfaces of the nose, throat and digestive tract, preventing the attachment of potential allergens. The dosage of MSM used in most studies has been in the range of 1000mg - 2000mg per day. Regards, Glen. Guest guest
Glen, I don't need you to give me lectures about what MSM is and about how much sulfur we have in our body. I did do my homework. What I do need you to do though is to stop advising people to do the wrong thing. Because soon you will hear them saying what you told Andy just a couple of days ago. You are way out of it, in my opinion. And the way you say those things... like just the simple fact that you went to an incompetent doctor makes you an expert in chelation. Just stop it! You'll be hurting somebody! If you would only realize how wrong you are! Guest guest
I think you said that MSM was bul***t?. So I thought I would show you were wrong once again. Incidentally the reason I had problems with my eye was because I followed Andy's protocol to the letter. That was before I found the " incompetent " doctor you speak of. I will continue to advise people based on my experience with mercury poisoning, so I would advise you not to read my posts in the future. And, please, please get a mercury test, you definitely need one. Well I'll be sure to tell the doctor in question that you called him incompetent, maybe you can discuss chelation with him and his lawyers? Guest guest
Elspeth, I have the exact same problem. Mine has gotten soooo bad, that I am bedridden with severe back pain right now. I had to go to the ER this past weekend because I couldn't stand up straight. They gave me Vicodin and Naproxyn, and even that doesn't help the pain....just puts me to sleep. It started while I was chelating with DMSA, and added high-potency probiotics. I have no good bacteria in my bowels, and high levels of bad bacteria. My naturopath warned me to wait until my bowels were functioning better before starting chelation. Well, my head is feeling better, and my skin is looking great, but I'm a wreck now from the neck down! Or should I say, waist down. I get MSM in a GNC product called " FibroMalic " . I think that those of us who have severe GI problems due to mercury are going to have to deal with the GI problems first, unfortunately. I had my appendix removed in August, because it had dental fillings in it. It's obvious to me now that whatever infection it caused in my GI tract has extended beyond my appendix. Please let me know if you find anything that helps. Guest guest
I had the same problem. Every time I detoxed with ALA or DMSA my intestinal flora would be destroyed and I got swollen intestines and back pain. I solved this problem very effectively with Modifilan. It is an algae which absorbs heavy metals inside the intestinal tract. I decided to try it and was very pleasantly surprised. Just try 2 good doses daily(8-10 capsules morning on an empty stomach) for 2 weeks and then decide. Andy and his friends here have not tried it and do not even mention it but a number of doctors use it and really believe in it. I have posted about it before and recently I discovered that the same algae is being marketed under 2 other names (see my previous post about intestinal mercury absorbers). In any case, it is not a 'bloodstream chelator' and cannot harm you. I personally did not have the slightest side effects and it was a real turning point in my detox experience. > > Sounds like you are relocating the mercury to the lymphatic system > in > > your intestinal tract instead of removing it. Guest guest
Thanks ....I will try it! I do notice more improvement in my " back " pain when I take Chorella and Phyto-Greens than I do with the Vicodin/Naproxen. I am just surprised that taking the high-potency probiotics (HMF Replete) seems to set off the pain/bloating....I literally walk around at a 45-degree angle! (It's not age....I'm only 36 years old!) I have very high Klebsiella pneumonia in my GI tract. Supposedly, that's common in mercury-poisoned people, and very difficult to eradicate. Guest guest
HI Dana, I think you might have Klebsiella in your GI tract but unless it's in your lungs and destoying things it probably isn't pneumonia since the word generally means in your lungs. I just don't want the listers to get confused about fungi vs. things they might cause like say pneumonia from Klebsiella, or say skin/vaginal/immune problems from Candida Albicans. Just some food for thought, Rana _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus

Guest guest
Dana, I do recall, as I mentioned earlier, that some people are allergic to their own flora. You might look into this. Klebsiella pneumonia is very bad, I've had this a couple of times and have had to resort to antibiotics to get rid of it. There are antibiotic herbs that seem to have an affect on these kinds of bacteria, one is Uva Ursi (has anyone else taken this?) and the other is a Chinese herb concoction called Huang Lian Su. This last one is for bacterial dysentery and I use it because I go down to Mexico quite often (I have a house there). Glen. Guest guest
I went back and looked at my poop test, it is pneumonia. Glen. Re: Re: DMSA Backfire HI Dana, I think you might have Klebsiella in your GI tract but unless it's in your lungs and destoying things it probably isn't pneumonia since the word generally means in your lungs.
Guest guest
Yes, you do need a prescription, and as I said, it doesn't leave the intestinal tract, doesn't go into your blood system etc. DMSA Backfire > > > I have been taking DMSA 2 days a week for several weeks. Guest guest
Right....the bacteria is called " Klebsiella pneumonia " , but that does not mean I have pneumonia. We all have Klebsiella pneumonia in our GI tracts, and we all have Candida Albicans in our GI tracts.
